Discussion: Is Water Wet?

WaterBump :droplet:

Bump ~

Water is wet omllll. I was arguing about this with my classmates a few weeks ago :joy: My argument is: How could water make things wet if it’s not wet? A yellow crayon makes things yellow. Why? Bc it’s yellow. Perfume makes you smell a type of way. Why? Bc it smells a type of way.

BUMP BUMP BUMPPPP

And feel free to disagree with me. This is just my opinion :woman_shrugging:t4:

We never used to think about this. People wanna debate about everything :joy:

Water is not wet, it just feels wet!

That’s not a good argument lmao

So hot coffee isn’t really hot, it just feels hot? Yea okay :joy: No disrespect tho.

Wet is an adjective, so water makes things wet and feels wet when you touch it. Therefore water itself isn’t wet, it makes things wet with physical contact!

Feels and tastes hot due to heat.

An adjective is a describing word. To describe something. The adjective wet is used to describe water, bc it IS wet.

Why does it feel wet? Bc it IS wet. :joy:

A sidewalk feels rough. Why? Bc it IS rough. Ice cream feels smooth. Why? Bc it IS smooth. (Sorry for the random examples lol)

Omg, this is making me question everything :sob::joy:

Good Lord, let me get my good friend Google…

That’s just their opinion. Is it scientifically proven?

What I’m saying may not be scientifically proven, but I have a good argument. That person does not.

I don’t understand how water is only wet when it touches something? Water is always touching something. Whether it’s the ground, the inside of a water bottle, or the ocean floor. So what is water exactly? It’s just a liquid? A liquid that makes things wet, but isn’t wet itself? Yea… That doesn’t sound correct at all. How could it make things wet if it’s not wet itself? That just doesn’t make sense to me. And the only reason everyone has for “Water isn’t wet” is that “It’s only wet when it comes in contact with something.” So if I were to touch something rough, would that make me rough? If I were to touch something smooth, would that make me smooth? :joy:
