I feel bad for people who decide to put themselves in such a bad position
If you’re talking about it’s crash record then yes.
But most of the 747 crashes aren’t THE PLANE’S FAULT.
Blame it on the guy that sits in the pilot booth with crosses legs and a bag of Doritos
All I do know is that I refuse to be the unlucky soul who happens to be on a flight of theirs that’s gonna crash
They can do that mid-flight if they are monitoring the planes’ instruments and what not, most people don’t know that the pilots mainly handle the takeoff & landing. They pretty much use the autopilot for a majority of the flight.
I was referring to the crash record. Like the 1985 Japan accident, the staff tried to keep the plane up despite it being damaged previously in the 70s
You see that’s just poor maintenance and reckless behavior
That’s why I said crossed legs and Doritos
No, keeping the plane up. In the air, trying to survive somehow. That’s pretty brave tbh, as for the damage… that’s on the company who was supposed to fix it.
No I get your point. I mean it was poor maintenance from the company meant to fix it. As for keeping it up that was rather brave. If it were me, I’d have passed out from hyperventilating and ended up killing everyone on board faster
I know about that crash! This wasn’t crew mismanagement you’re right, they did an excellent job handling the plane. The maintenance people on the ground were the people who screwed up, they were repairing the plane’s spice plate when they didn’t secure it properly, the bolts were loose. When the Spice plate breaks, the cabin decompresses and the plane becomes really hard to handle. The plane was basically trying to turn on its side the entire time, I think the ‘explosion’ damaged the hydraulics in the plane which is basically what allows you to turn the plane. Hence why they had difficulty controlling the plane
That sounds confusing. Oof.
Makes perfect sense to me
There’s more but I don’t remember it, I watched the Air Crash Investigation video on this like four times though.
I know I would’ve just lost it right then and there.
The 1985 JAL crash, yes! Especially the captain and the pilot, they did an incredible job. You know a lot about planes, do you wanna become a pilot? I also think the plane was rowing and yawing, but I could be wrong.
She does. I remember her expressing her love for planes a while back
Yeah, the plane was basically yawing to back and forth, which also caused them to lose a lot of altitude, the 747 isn’t made to turn like that so I’m surprised the wings weren’t severely damaged before the plane crashed. And yes I would love to become a pilot! I really want to fly for the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds but since they handle fighter jets I’d have to train in the military and that’s a ‘no thank you’ from me! I’d like to fly helicopters but they’re a bit scary and in my opinion harder to fly than commercial airliners. If I stick with an airline, probably JetBlue since they mainly operate out of JFK. But there’s always a chance robots will fly planes before I do!
I might make a thread where ya ask me aviation-related things, since I’m surprised y’all are curious.
And oof I can barely handle the F-4 phantom in X-plane so I’m not sure I’ll be able to handle F-18s.
Awesome!
That’s crazy… but sad.
Go for it! It’s rare to see female pilots on most commercial airlines, much less a woman of color. Whether it be helicopters or actual planes. Also, humans aren’t made of wires and metal~
I haven’t flown often but I’ve flown in a plane like 5 times? I can’t recall my first time cuz I was 5 but I got to fly a 757 (RIP you’re a retired plane now). Obviously don’t remember what pilots flew the plane, but within those 5 flights, there was only one woman who flew and I think she was a FO who was older than the captain. AND SHE WASN’T EVEN OUR PILOT! I only saw her because her plane was right next to mine.
