“I will stay in Candor too, that‘s where I belong“ I said and smiled slightly.

“And yours?” I asked. So, Candor girl will stay in Candor. Which means I’ll be seeing more of her, probably. Hm.

I shook her hand. It was slightly warm, and soft, whereas mine’s was dry and cold. I crossed my arms again.
“You should probably get going. Your parents must be worried about your whereabouts” I said

“Yeah, probably” I said and sighed. I put my hands in my pockets and walked away from her. I raised an eyebrow. I looked around. I feel bad for those whom are confused though. It must be hard to make such a decision. I’m sure I want to be in Candor…right? Yeah, right. I gulped. At least, I hope so. No, I shouldn’t overthink it. I rubbed my face and walked into my house. I sighed.

“Mae didn’t wait for me like she promised. Where could she be?” Sev muttered to himself. He wasn’t paying attention to what was in front of him to seethe the steps. Making him miss the first one and fall down 3 steps to the floor.

The loud voices of the five faction leaders boomed around the great Hall, they stood behind a table with five bowls placed upon it. One bowl for each faction.
There was a knife on the pedestal in the centre of the round table.
“When your name is called, come up, and cut you hand with the Great knife. Place your hand on the bowl that represents your faction, and when the blood touches, that is your faction forever.”

I gulped and fiddled with my dress nervously. I looked at Mother and Father, who seems relatively calm. I sighed. I don’t understand how they seem calm. Do they think I’m going to choose abnegation? Am I going to even choose abnegation? I bit my lip, a little nervously. We will see. I don’t know…but this could be my chance. Of being free.

I crossed my arms. I know what I’m going to pick. Right? Yeah, yeah. Candor. I guess it’s the simple, easy decision, since I’ve practically grown up there. I looked around. People were talking with their families and other people. My younger sister was sitting beside me, admiring the building that surrounds us. My Dad, his thoughts seeemd somewhere else. I looked straight. Whatever.

I looked around the crowd. They all seem nervous, I for myself aren‘t anymore. I‘m sure that I‘m doing the right choice. I smiled slightly and looked down for a second. I noticed the boy… Matthew was his name? I wonder if he‘ll still want to stay in Candor.
