KDKDKDKFKFK OMG AS YOU SHOULD~ THATS MY DREAM
YAYAYAYAY OKOK GOOD
THAT SOUNDS SO FUN
OOP that is okay I totally understand!!
It’s more complex than that, idk about any other igbo people raised in a traditional house or a house with heavy traditions but there are things like I have a HARD time looking people in the eyes especially people who are older than me because that’s disrespectful in nigeria but seen as dishonest in america :// my brothers never call me by my first name, only a title that gives me respect as the oldest and only sister and my dad (the oldest child and firstborn son) does the same with his own sister. sooo
Oh, yeah…maybe I should just…throws idea away There. I’m kinda disappointed because I had ideas for her, but I really don’t want to be disrespectful.
You’re right about that ~
there’s the nicknames my dad calls me like “ada”, “obi na” < literally mean’s daddy’s heart etc. etc. Whenever I greet someone (a fellow igbo person) I always say Mazi uncle/aunty [name] and kinda like bow?? there’s ofc nigerian pidgin which you learn to speak when your around nigerian people, it’s a form of english that has been simplified for nigerians to communicate. It has a grammatical way of working and if you don’t speak it well you’ll just sound weird and disrespectful. (same with aave) and there’s like the words in igbo that you don’t know the direct translation but ur parents use it like “All this wahala” (trouble) “Chineke” (litterally means God kinda used in situations like oh mY gOD) and then you have the foods and stuff and what your placement is in the house (firstborn child, firstborn son, etc. etc.) !! a lot of stuff !! and i’m wary of non-nigerians writing it bc there’s not a lot of articles on it u kinda have to be in that enviorment yk
Oohh…yeah, I really shouldn’t.
Yeahh, it’s something im not too sure that should be tackled by non-nigerians because there’s a lot
istg one person mentions they’re nigerian and i see like 20 people come out of the woodwork like
it’s a whole connection
Hi Cad!
Well, I am not going to sleep… just resting yes
AHHHH ALRIGHT
I WILL WORK ON IT TMRW THO YES - that’s the plan
Also the fact most people would be like “I’m igbo/half igbo” and I’m like dam ok-
RIGHT i mean we are one of the largest group of nigerians but still
also like with family, someone does something and you suddenly hear about your 7th cousin 10 times removed who moved to Texas
SJKSKDS ohhh yes rest is also good!!
YES TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER
did u just search up nigerian or just in general black girls with box braids
This! Omg if I look at my mom directly at her eyes she would be angry at me, but if I do it o my non-Nigerian American friends they think I’m lying.
I wish my younger siblings practice this
but we do it to my cousins (which of course confuses non-nigerians)
Black girls with plaited hair…I’m guessing its insensitive? Sh!t.
right?!?!? my dad would be like i know u ain’t staring at me like that
and people in school would be like uR lYinG and i’m like what do u want from me tf
it my siblings a while but they do it now. whenever someone was like can you call your sister they’d be like aDaNNe and the people would be like who tf
ada means first daughter.
or chuwku
well i mean i just nigerians look differently depending on their tribe
like my sub tribe tends to be pretty short and very very curly headed
oohh i’ve only heard this used and prayers and names wbu
