Cecelia’s day wasn’t turning out so well.
For one, she didn’t even want to go to the academy. She had enough money to live a life on her own without schooling, but her mother insisted she had to go, even though it felt like she didn’t really belong there. She had planned to wear her fanciest, most expensive shoes, trying to be the icon of the school to get rid of the feeling of being the odd one out, but ended up with mud on her feet when she had stepped in a large puddle which had seemed to appear from thin air. She had to run inside. However, it’s hard to run in heels- and Cecelia nearly broke her ankle. By then, her foot was in agony, so she went to the bathroom to wipe off the mud and put a cold paper towel against her ankle. By then she shoes were ruined. No matter how hard she scrubbed, a certain part of the mud on the front of the shoe- where everyone could see- would just NOT come off. She tried everything, but it was all in vain, as the stain seemed permanent.
She was regretting not going with her first option of putting plastic baggies on her feet lo protect from mud. Why didn’t she go with that idea? Cecelia felt dumb. Now she had to walk around with a big stain on her shoes that screamed *’I am irresponsible,’
Accepting the fact that she her shoes would not revert to its original shiny state, she tried to put her shoes back on, but it wouldn’t fit anymore. Just her luck, she had actually twisted her angle and it was now swelling up. She had to put on her high kneed socks (which had mud on them) and walk to her first class like that.
Cecilia limped across the halls to her first class, shoving her mud-stained shoes into a plastic baggie. This was not a good first day look. She tried her best to look confident, keeping her chin up a little. Maybe this day want so bad. She just needed to get though the day, and it would be all fine.
That’s what she thought, until she felt the whoosh of wind on her face, and before she could react, a locker door slammed onto her face, straight onto the most noticeable part of her face, her nose. She felt her face vibrate from how hard it hit her face, a sharp jost of pain, wind then a warm tricking sensation coming from her nose.
Cecelia angrily wiped her nose and held it shut with her thumb and forefinger. “Watch where you swing dat locker door!” Her voice came out nasally due to her nose which she was sure was broken.
She took the tissues the girl offered her as she frantically apologized. “Id’z fine, id’z fine,” she assured her, holding a tissue to her nose. To her it wasn’t fine, but she was too tired to say so. ‘I’ll just go to the nurse. Danks.”
She tried her best to smile at the girl before limping to the nurse’s office. When she got there and told the nurse what happened, she sat there wallowing in her own misery. Unlike what she was aiming for, she wasn’t the icon of the school; she was some girl who managed to get 2 injuries in less than a day. And now she was going to miss her first period and possibly the second one. She sighed as the nurse bought her an ice pack to put on her ankle. “Danks,”
