Ace rephrased what he had said, and Tristan being a moron completely bought it, laughing along. “Nice one, bro. Ain’t that always how it goes, though. They just act tough and then pretend like they did nothing wrong.” Ace returned the compliment that Tristan had given him, even though Tristan viewed it less as a compliment and more of an observation. Maybe it was just Tristan, but Ace seemed jealous? Tristan let out a low whistle as Ace asked what she was like. “She’s f*cking hot, if that’s what you’re asking. Silver hair, blue eyes, long legs. I mean… she’s a little bit hard to get but we basically have two dates set up and it’s only been a day. Not to brag, or anything. But hey, it’s not like a fine fella like you doesn’t already have plans for tonight.” Tristan lightly punched his shoulder as he did, in fact, fully mean to brag.
You know, as much as Tristan hated his brother, something didn’t sit right with Ace mentioning his mother. As much as I’d love to say that Tristan punched him then and there, he merely clenched a fist, letting very little show on his face. In all honesty, Tristan had no idea what his brother’s s*x life was like. Hell, he wasn’t even sure if he liked girls, but whatever. He laughed along at Ace’s joke and continued with a witty comment, “S’not like we’ll have to try or anything.”

Mare nodded, they could see a brother. Sure, it’s not nearly as juicy, but you gotta have siblings. They did have like… 18 uncles or something. Family was familiar to them. Sora giggled and it brought a smile to Mare’s face. “Brother huh… does he have your wings? Or are you special?” They raised an eyebrow with genuine curiosity in their eyes. “Wait. Hold up. Forget everything. Kid. You can fly? What the hell are you doing here? Why are you fidgeting? I’m sorry, are there people here with wings here that I just coincidentally can’t see? You can actually fly. How large is your wingspan? It would have to be huge, right? I mean an eagle is like 5 feet or something and that’s for a bird, not a human.” Mare started to geek out a bit, raising their hand a few feet above his wings as they asked, “Can I touch them?”
Mare sighed. They had a feeling it wouldn’t have really worked. They had never even had anxiety before. It was no surprise that they had no idea what they were doing. “Well, I tried. Sometimes that’s all you can do.” Mare listened to him as Sora continued, but spoke as soon as they were done. “That’s the thing, kid, you don’t have to worry about things. It’s irrational and useless. Like fear, it’s fleeting. Eventually, it’ll be gone and you’ll be left wondering why you spent so many years of your life not living to the fullest. Standing up for yourself, relaxing, ditching.” Mare nodded at hearing where he was going, “Ah, a smart one I see. I’m headed to the same place.”

Aodghan tilted his head, “Red riding hood? Never heard of them. Are they Irish?” Aodghan grinned in excitement about hearing about the forest, “That’s so cool. I just live near an ocean or something, I dunno, it’s useless. Forest’s are cooler, I was never allowed in them.” He supposed it was because his father had died from a boar attack. Which made sense, but still. He wasn’t his father, just because he acted like him… and looked like him… and was super strong like him… Okay, maybe they shared some similarities. Rory placed his hand on Aodghan’s shoulder, asking if he was okay. “Yep, I’m fine man. Fit as a fiddle. Why?”

Pin’s anger only grew. In comparison to the composed boy in front of them, Pin looked like a flaming ball of emotions. They were conflicted, to say the least. Here there was this boy in front of them, insulting their mother, their name, basically all they stood for. Pin wanted to run. His flight instinct catching up with him, but they also wanted to stay. Even if Hien raised them for most of their childhood, it wasn’t their mother’s fault. “Those are strong words coming from a man who moments ago was speaking of their own mother as though she were a saint when anyone with eyes can tell that she is far from that.” The boy was mad. Maybe as mad as Pin. Did it matter? Maybe.
Pin growled. That’s right, downright growled. They were even surprised to hear their body speak without their permission. And Pin didn’t hate it. Adrenaline coursed through Pin’s veins as they lifted their chin. “Thuy Kieu is my mother, you miserable swine. I used to think that you were the luckier twin, but I was very obviously wrong. I was raised by a general. And you? You were raised by an adulterer and a liar.” Pin growled his response, keeping their voice low. Maybe Pin had revealed too much, yet it didn’t matter. It was obvious that this boy had no intention of being brothers, let alone being friendly, so why even care.
