He told Camilla to calm down. She blinked, looking embarrassed. Was he mad at her? No, he was laughing and it wasn’t the shivering, high-pitched giggle of the adults and older townspeople who thought of her as nothing more than a bother. The casual chuckle and smooth words put her at ease, letting her know he was still the same Alec that thought she was beautiful and interesting. Camilla really liked talking. But she also loved to listen to someone who was good at talking, someone who had loads of interesting things to say. She looked adoringly up at Alec as he talked about his royal life. As if nothing could possibly be more interesting. People who were mega-rich always fascinated Camilla. She was no gold digger, this wasn’t in a greedy, materialistic way. More so, she’d grown up dirt-poor. The glamorous lifestyle of people like Alec was sparkly, intriguing, and new. “What kind of food? Do you ever eat pigeon? Or duck? Or snails?” Camilla fired away, not really calming down. She asked about foods she assumed rich people liked to eat. “Wow…” she stared at his leather jacket. She’d never seen a prince in leather but she was into it.

Alec told her it meant beautiful, though she still didn’t know the language. She wanted to, but Alec seemed more interested in something else. She’d have to use it later. “Me either! … kinda. I don’t know how to feel about that. Like, I’m excited, but it’s something I’ve never ever done before so I’m kinda nervous.” Camilla admitted, sounding just how she said she felt, nervous and excited. His lips traced up her arms, a dangerous look in his eyes. “I’m happy you taught me that too,” Camilla told him, goose bumps rising where his lips met her flesh. “Anything else you’re planning to teach me?” She raised a surprisingly well manicured brow as she waited for his reaction and response.
