Sh-t. Lilliana sat up quickly, furiously rubbing her temples with her fingers. Her head hurt like h-ll and her eyes felt caked with tears and makeup. She could feel her phone vibrating in her pocket-signaling it was five-thirty in the morning. Blindly, she groped at the screen until the alarm turned off. Stumbling out of bed, she headed for the dorm bathroom. She still hadn’t met her roommate yet… Memories flashed through her mind as she walked quietly down the icy hallway. Why had she been out so late? Flicking on the bathroom light, she stared at herself in the mirror. Her cold charcoal eyes were surrounded by ruined eyeshadow and mascara. Her lips were blood-red and smudgy, and she looked pale. Sh-t. Lilliana knelt over the toilet bowl and began to vomit. After a few moments, she laid back against the wall, taking in deep breaths. Her stomach felt hollow and her palms sweaty.
Last night’s events were beginning to return to her in fragments-each one felt like a needle stuck through her skull. A tanned green-eyed girl…she couldn’t remember her name. Shot glass after shot glass…drinking… dancing with a guy… Lilliana’s eyes shot wide open. Holy sh-t. She could remember it all so clearly now-the shaggy-haired blonde boy from the bar. He’d bought her some drinks, they’d danced together…what else had they done? That was the only part she couldn’t quite recall. She fumbled in her pocket, hoping she at least had some stomach medicine or a few crackers… Her heart stopped as she found a note scribbled on the back of a flyer-one for a club.
Congratsssssssss! You’re officially someone’s new side chick! Also, if there’s a bill in your mailbox in a few days, it’s totally not from anything I did.
Lilliana felt her entire face turn hot as a wave of emotions crashed over. The note was obviously from the girl she had gone with. She limply rested her head against the wall and let out a shaky breath she had been holding in. So they did sleep together…that made sense. Now that she had read the note, she could remember them leaving the club. His breathing on her neck… Shakily getting to her feet, she stumbled back into the dorm room, collapsing on the unmade bed. How the h-ll am I going to get through school today?
Her school uniform reeked of last night’s drinks, so Lilliana gave up, dressing in ripped black jeans and a red hoodie. The color of the hoodie was similar to the color of her uniform cloak and dress-maybe the teachers wouldn’t notice she was breaking dress code. Lilliana rolled her eyes as she combed out her tangled black hair. Who am I kidding… Sorry Mom and Dad. Her parents wouldn’t be pleased if they found out she had broken such an easy rule to follow on the first day of school. But she’d rather that then have them find out about her whereabouts the night before. Tying her hair in a high ponytail, Lilliana left her dorm. She stashed her books in her locker-same one as last year. Heading downstairs, she figured she still had time for a quick run around the school before her first class, which would hopefully clear her head.

Ace woke up alone, which was surprising to him. He had been confident that when he arrived back at Once Upon a High, girls would be fighting in order to even catch a glimpse of him. He had only spoken to two girls yesterday, and both of them were pretty b-tchy. What happened to all the sweet girls from last year? But, it had only been one day. There was still hope. Besides, he had secured a date with a cute girl so there was that.
Ace showered and changed into his uniform. Instead of the mandatory white suit jacket, he wore his classic red letterman’s jacket. He had a large breakfast at the Castleteria by himself, scrolling on his phone the entire time. He posted a picture of his food on social media, sure his fans would go crazy over it. Then, finally, he made his way to Mathematics and took a seat in the back row.

Life at Once Upon a High was proving rather easy to adjust to. Lorelai woke up, removing the sleeping mask from her eyes. She wore silk pajamas and slept underneath red silk sheets as well. While going to school on Mount Olympus, she often had the privilege of sleeping in later, but she didn’t mind. After taking a warm bubble bath and dressing an outfit that wasn’t her uniform, Lorelai prepared herself a pomegranate and lemon tea. She hadn’t yet met her roommate-with-benefits to-be, but she hoped she was good looking. After finishing her tea, Lorelai headed downstairs.
Her first class was Literature, although she contemplated not even showing up. Still, she had nothing else to do, she could always ditch when it got boring. Lorelai kept a dazzling smile as she walked through the halls, keeping her head high as if she were above them all. Which she was-she was a full fledged goddess! Thinking about this only made her smile wider. She slid into a seat at the very back of the classroom. A lot of students were already there, but she didn’t approach anyone. She, instead, waited for someone to begin speaking to her.

Knowing Alya was by her side, Eudora slept like a baby. Her dreams felt soft and hazy…she was at peace. When she awoke, she felt fresh and excited to start the day, almost as if all the worry had faded away. She took a warm shower and dressed in the school uniform, pairing it with black flats and hoop earrings. She tied half of her hair up, securing it with an ruby-encrusted pin given to her by her grandparents. She dusted glitter onto her eyelids and added a layer of lipstick before heading to the kitchen. After cooking warm bacon and eggs for both Alya and herself, she packed up her schoolbag and headed downstairs for her first class-Literature.
She was early, so she took a seat in the middle of the second row, with space on either side. She wondered if anyone would sit next to her. If so, she made a promise to talk to them, no matter if they were a boy or girl. She needed more friends, especially friends in the same class as her.

Theo took a seat in the back of the Mathematics Classroom. She spilled the contents of her mustard-yellow corduroy backpack in front of her : a notebook she had used for last year’s mathematics, some pencil-crayons, and a sketchbook for secret doodles. Looking around the classroom, she didn’t see Matt’s shaggy blonde head anywhere. Or was that him? She squinted at the back of a blonde-haired guy’s head. He didn’t really look like Matt. And wouldn’t Matt sit next to her? She slouched even further into her seat. Probably not.
Matt was the friend she had made yesterday and the first deaf person she had ever met. They had really clicked and had a nice conversation…until she randomly kissed him on the cheek and then ran off, leaving him confused and with her notebook full of conversations she had shared with hearing people. None of them were deep or anything, mostly orders from the Castleteria or explanations to things she couldn’t hear. Still, the idea of Matt reading through her scribbled messy notes that revealed everywhere she went and bought from felt humiliating. Great, Theo, you finally click with someone and then you do this… Giving up on the idea Matt would ever communicate with her again, she huffed sadly, blowing a stray blonde lock out of her face.

Dae woke up a bit later than he should’ve, but it didn’t take him long to get ready anyways. Being a demigod, he was blessed with perfect looks-naturally shiny tangerine hair, flawless skin, and plump pink lips. Still, he took a shower before choosing an outfit. He wanted to stand out-which would be easy when most other people would be wearing a uniform. Sitting in a chair in the living room, Dae opened his journal-a copper book that typically stayed hidden under his mattress. He had never told anyone he journaled, not even his sister Eun knew. It was embarrassing that he even wrote in one, but he couldn’t help it. He wrote about the last few days-getting the invitation to Once Upon a High, his conversation with Eun, having to take Macy along with them. Before he knew it, he had used up several pages and it was almost time to get to class.
He kept his head high as he walked through the halls, keeping a still expression on his face. As he entered the classroom, he didn’t recognize anyone yet. He took a seat nearer to the back than the front. His posture was perfect, but you could tell by his expression he was already bored and didn’t want to be there. He knew Eun was in his class, but he didn’t know about Macy-not that he really cared if either of them were. He barely had a relationship with Eun anymore and he was frustrated with Macy. Thinking about them made his eyebrows knit together, although he didn’t really appear mean because of his baby face and innocent features.

Kaden woke up right on time. He hadn’t set an alarm-he always woke up at just the right time-not too early, not too late. He took a shower, then added some product to his hair. This step wasn’t necessary-being the son of Goldilocks, his curls were naturally bright gold and hung in tight, perfect spirals. But it helped him shape his hair a bit, making him look more cleaned-up. If that wasn’t enough, his uniform was perfectly white despite his adventures the day before. Not a wrinkle or stain in sight. Kaden smiled at himself in the mirror at the thought of Maximilian. He had never felt so…strange about a friend before. Maybe because Maximilian was so different from his other friends…and anyone he’d ever met. He slipped into his shiny black shoes before heading to the Castleteria for breakfast.
Breakfast was amazing, especially because it wasn’t porridge. His mother only served porridge-for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, so Kaden was a bit tired of it. Slinging his brown leather book bag over his shoulder, he headed for his first class- Advanced Literature. He was excited to find out what his teacher would be like and what they would be reading during the year. He chose a seat not too close to the front, but not too close to the back, either. Just right - as Goldilocks would call it. He wiggled in the seat before taking out his supplies- his textbook, notebook, agenda, and pens.

Rylan awoke to his younger brother Shelldon gently shaking him awake. Shelldon was already dressed in his uniform and his dark mop of curls sat neatly atop his head. Rylan groaned as he shakily propped himself up in bed. By the time he had sat up, Shelldon had sat on the floor, tossing his belongings out of his suitcase. “Where’s your uniform?” “Don’t bother. I’m not wearing that…” He eyed Shelldon, who was wearing the white mess of frills-suit jacket and all. “…thing.” He already looked stupid enough needing to be pushed around most of the time. “Nuh-uh. We aren’t leaving until you put it on.” Shelldon unearthed Rylan’s uniform from the very bottom of the suitcase, tossing it on his bed. Rylan huffed. If he could have a normal roommate-normal meaning anyone who wasn’t his brother, he wouldn’t have to deal with this. But since he relied on Sheldon for almost everything, he had no choice but to let Sheldon help him into the embarrassing white suit and then into his wheelchair.
They stopped at the Castleteria for breakfast. Rylan had to admit, even the food was amazing. Much more amazing than what he had to eat on the road anyways. Some people were glancing at him. He thought he heard laughter and looked down to his hands, face red and expression dark. Are they laughing at me? Sending the table a glare, Sheldon wheeled Rylan to his first class, Mathematics. Another thing Rylan was upset about. Sheldon was so intelligent-even with only two animals as teachers, he was much smarter, and was in all advanced classes. Meanwhile, Rylan was horrible in school and had no advanced classes whatsoever. Sheldon pushed his brother to a seat in the second row, right in the middle. Rylan glowered, he would’ve preferred a seat in the back, where he could do whatever he wanted without getting caught. After Sheldon left, he awkwardly stared at the ground, not knowing what to do.

Camilla woke up when her alarm clock rang. It was a bright pop song, but she didn’t feel bright and poppy. Usually, she slept in a lot longer, not taking much time to get ready. But, this year, she was trying to be better than that. And that meant leaving her warm, cozy bed, slipping her feet into bunny slippers, and heading to the bathroom to take a much-needed shower. After her shower, Camilla smelled like vanilla cookies. She slipped a burgundy headband into her dark locks and applied makeup-scented lip gloss and mascara-two things Jason had told her never to wear. She dressed in the uniform dress-which was itchy, black sneakers, and white socks. The sneakers added a bit to her height, which she liked. She then slung her yellow chicken-shaped purse over one arm. The purse was called Betty, and last year when she was younger, she often spoke to it or treated it like a friend. Inside the purse contained a few small notebooks, pencils, and hair elastics. She didn’t feel like using a backpack, they got so heavy with all the books. Speaking of books, she carried her literature textbook under one arm-her purse didn’t have enough room.
She ate some cereal for breakfast, leaving the bowl in the sink to clean later. She packed lunch-a sandwich and packet of chips-neither her nor her brother had enough money to buy school lunches every day. She’d probably have to get her first job this year. Speaking of her brother, there was his knock at her door. He looked surprised to see her-he was probably surprised she was even up. She let him gape for a moment before stepping into the hallway, shutting the door behind her. She heard the lock click into place. “C’mon, Jason, we don’t want to be late for class.” It took all of her not to start laughing or to mention how proud of herself she was.
Jason walked her to the literature classroom. Camilla didn’t hate literature, but she was sure the class would be boring-that’s how school was. “I’ll meet you here after class.” Jason told her, but it sounded more like an order. She waved at him as he walked off towards his own class, advanced literature. A bit of Camilla felt sad thinking about this-that her brother was a lot smarter than her in almost every subject. Gosh, I really need to step it up. Putting a bright smile back on her face, she entered the classroom and chose a seat in one of the middle rows-she didn’t want to be watched like a hawk by her teachers, but she was pretty short…she wanted to be able to see.

Petra woke up early. She took some time to unpack, as she hadn’t finished the night before. Her dorm was simple and homey, although she hadn’t had time to paint the walls or purchase any decorations that fit the theme she wanted to go for. She hung her clothes in the wardrobe provided and shoved her school supplies into her worn out backpack before taking a shower. After she finished, she put her strawberry-blonde hair into one long braid and applied some chapstick. She was too nervous to eat anything, but she did have a cup of earl-gray tea, at the same time, working on a small watercolor paint by number she’d purchased while in town.
After her cup was empty, she washed it and put it back in the right cupboard. She grabbed her backpack and headed for the mathematics classroom, trying not to make eye contact with anyone. She didn’t like mathematics, she wasn’t very good at math, and the teachers tended to ask a lot of questions and have high expectations. Petra took a random middle seat, making sure she didn’t sit next to anyone else. She didn’t want to break up friend groups or make anyone uncomfortable. She took out her books and pencil, and began to doodle a jackalope inside her notebook. She didn’t like drawing in front of other people, but no one was very close to her, and she didn’t want to look awkward sitting there and doing nothing.

Jackie woke up early enough to watch the sun rise from their dorm window. They loved the sunrise because of the beautiful colors-giving them enough motivation and creativity to start the day. After a short shower, Jackie dressed in the uniform provided for the female students-mostly because the male uniform lacked any color, while the female one was a dull burgundy. Still not Jackie’s style, but they didn’t want to break the rules. Looking in the mirror, they began slowly raking their fingers through their hair, in deep concentration. Their brown curls slowly began to darken until they became black, and her eyes began to shift to a deep brown as well. Jackie smiled at the finished look-they often changed their hair and eye color to match their “vibe” and had learned to do so when they were quite young.
After a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal, Jackie packed their backpack-a burgundy one to match their uniform before getting to class. Jackie liked literature, and was looking forwards to it. Yesterday’s attempt to make friends wasn’t necessarily a success, and they were hoping today would be better. Taking a seat near the front, Jackie tapped their foot excitedly, wondering what would happen next.

Jakob thought about ditching, but he didn’t really have anything else to do besides go to school. With no one to tie him down and all of his friends from last year busy, he’d look like a total loner if he hung out by himself. So, he dressed in an olive colored jacket and torn-up jeans, then headed to downstairs. He stopped by the Castleteria to grab a protein bar-he didn’t really care if he was late. In between bites, he watched everyone around him, not seeing anyone he remembered meeting before.
Leaving the wrapper and tray on the table for staff to clean up, he went to the Mathematics classroom and grabbed a seat in the very back. He leaned far back in his chair, and then forwards, letting the legs hit the ground. No one was sitting in his row yet… Smirking to himself, he took his sack of pixie dust out of his pocket, and secretly sprinkled some on the chair next to him. Stowing it away in his jean pocket, he took out his pocket knife and began to carve on the table, waiting for someone to fall into his trap.

Shelldon woke up early to get ready. He had dreamed of his parents, but when he woke up, they weren’t sleeping on the floor next to him. Instead, he was bundled up in a queen-sized bed alone. He took a shower-the showers in the dorms were amazing! The shampoos and soaps were also of fine quality-his smelled like tea tree and hemp. He showered for a lot longer then he actually needed, ever since he was a child, he would use a cramped hotel shower or even bathe in the lake. He could get used to this. He dressed in the uniform- he wasn’t a fan of the color, but he liked the old-timey look it gave him. He even wore the suit jacket, he got cold pretty easily. After styling his hair, he woke up his brother Rylan and helped him get ready.
His first class was advanced mathematics. He had never been to a real school before. His parents taught him everything he “needed” to know, but he’d always wondered if he could be even more intelligent with the help of teachers and actual materials. He took a seat near the middle-it seemed like the wise thing to do. He couldn’t wait to begin learning, he hoped the teacher would be challenging and exciting.

Felix smiled softly as the sun brushed his face in attempts to wake him up. He wasn’t really a morning person, but he did love to watch the sunrise, full of soft, beautiful colors. The entire room lit up with gentle light-almost magical. He got out of bed to brush his teeth, it was a school day and he only had so much time to get ready. He ran his fingers through his dark brown curls but decided to keep them that color today. He dressed in his uniform- a plain white suit. He disliked the uniform-it had almost no color besides the gold accents and buttons. However, he wasn’t about to break the rules on the first day of school. He didn’t change his hair or eye color-he wanted to keep yesterday’s look.
For breakfast he made scrambled eggs-bright yellow. He was an alright cook, the eggs tasted fine. He cleaned the plate and fork when he was done, making sure they went back in the exact spot they were supposed to. So far, the dorm still looked very clean, much to his liking. He packed his backpack before heading downstairs. He had already looked at the school map-he knew where his classroom was. When he arrived, he took an available seat and took out his agenda, textbook, and notebook. He began to write in his agenda, using a ruler to make sure everything looked neat.

Bay woke up on the sandy floor of the secret cove she shared with her boyfriend Cameron. Yesterday had been so busy, they’d barely had time to talk. Hopefully today would be different. Seeing that he was still asleep, Bay undressed and slipped into her school uniform, which she had cleaned with a few spells the night before. She had decorated it with embroidery and tiny shells and bits from the ocean, and was proud to wear it. She secured her orange hair in two tiny braids before running back to Cameron and shaking his arm. “Cam! Time to wake up, sleepyhead!” She yelled excitedly. Then, she stepped back, allowing him to compliment her on how cute she looked.

Caspian jolted awake, her big blue eyes full of fear. She looked around-her settings were unfamiliar. She wasn’t at Rani’s house in her small, neat bedroom. Instead, she was in a a large, plain room, inside a bed much bigger than her own. She dressed in her uniform, following every rule-she’d read the rule book several times. She hated getting in trouble and was already quivering at the idea of breaking a rule and getting yelled at. She kept her hair in loose blonde curls, securing it from her face with two black bobby pins. That would be good enough-she didn’t want to stand out much anyways. She ate a piece of toast spread with butter for her breakfast-she didn’t want to bother with the stove and start a fire.
She locked the door behind her and headed for the Mathematics classroom-it wasn’t even close to the starting time, better too early than potentially late, right? She was able to find it quickly-she had studied the map to make sure she didn’t get lost. Lots of seats were open-in the front, middle, and back. She stood there awkwardly, biting her bottom lip. The teacher would pick on her more often if she sat in the front, but all of the bad kids sat in the back… and would she be able to see and hear if she sat in the middle?

Remembering yesterday’s mistake, Callie was sure to set multiple alarms to make sure she work up at exactly six-thirty. She needed at least an hour and a half to “beautify” herself for the first day of classes. Ironically, she had awoken a few minutes before her alarm was about to go off-too anxious to stay asleep. Speaking of classes… What did I have first again? She had checked her schedule last night, but had already forgotten it. Then again, it was easy to forget things you didn’t care about. Callie rolled her icy blue eyes as she remembered-Literature class. She couldn’t stand Literature, it seemed so pointless. She was a Charming Princess. One day, she would rule at the side of a handsome king, not become an old librarian. Her alarm chimed and she tapped it back to sleep before slipping out of bed and heading towards the bathroom.
After taking a shower and drying her hair, Callie changed into her uniform. To most, it was the removal of self expression, a simple, stiff, and ugly cloak and dress. But to her, it was a sign of pride for her school, and actually kinda cute. Still, the fact she found it cute didn’t stop her from making sure the skirt was a few inches too short and the heels a few inches too high. She also stuffed her bra as much as she could, as per usual. She pulled her curled blonde hair into a high ponytail, tying it with a black ribbon. Then, she headed downstairs to her locker, where Duchess had already organized her books and supplies. She grabbed her Literature book as well as an empty notebook and pen. She felt a few guy’s eyes on her, so she gave them a bright smile before turning on her heel and heading for the Literature classroom.

Porcelain groaned and rubbed her turquoise eyes, leaving her hands smudged black with makeup. After arriving at school, she had locked herself in her bedroom and fell right asleep until the next day. She had tried talking to a boy, but it hadn’t gone well due to their history from the year before. Whatever. It was over and she didn’t want to think about it anymore. She slipped into her outfit for the day-a tattered black dress- and ran a brush through her bird’s nest of silver hair. She hadn’t bothered to remove yesterday’s makeup, which had now sunken below her eyes, making her look like a very pale raccoon.
Porcelain did her best to gather her things in her arms before going downstairs. She didn’t have a book bag of any kind, and nearly dropped her things several times. She had planned on ditching, but she hoped to catch even just a glimpse of her ex-girlfriend. Of course, she would never talk with her. There was a bit of guilt about what had happened, but she would rather go back to living with her mother than own up to her mistakes. She took a seat at the very back of the classroom and glared at nothing in particular.

Valentina slept in a little bit longer than she had intended to-she had worked late into the night planning school events and writing about cute couples she had noticed. She got up, took a shower, then changed into the uniform. She styled her hair into two space buns and applied her makeup. Then she crunched on a bowl of cereal before grabbing her leather bookbag and flying out the window so she wouldn’t have to walk through the cramped dorm halls.
Her first class was mathematics-a bit boring but she wasn’t bad at math or anything. She drifted to the ground, remembering the numerous times she had been scolded for flying in the halls. Eun hadn’t slept well, knowing she now shared a dorm with her half-sister Macy. But why ? Her eyes narrowed and she shook her head as she slid out of bed. She doesn’t control me anymore. She has no place in my head. Slipping out of her room, she locked herself in the shared bathroom. She shrugged off her silken pajamas in the secrecy of the bathroom and changed into her uniform-or rather, the boy’s uniform. It fit her very loosely, hiding any curve in her figure, the legs of the pants traveling past her feet and to the floor. She looked like a child wearing their parent’s clothing. Even though she usually tried to stick to the rules, she hated dress codes with a burning passion. Not only were they sexist, they also prevented individuality. She scowled, glancing at herself in the mirror. This was her own little statement. And some might think she looked silly, but she felt powerful wearing the overly frilly white suit. At least students got one day to dress how they liked. She left her hair down, combing through it a few times to make it look extra shiny. Being a demigoddess, she was blessed with her mother’s beauty. She almost never woke up with tatted hair or a pimple on her face.
She had been so excited about going to Once Upon a High. A place where she could finally belong, and no one would know her history…the old her. A place away from her home-if you could even call it that. But having Macy tag along was a stab in the back. A permanent reminder of how much she had suffered. Eun scolded herself for thinking so negatively. Making sure the coast was clear, she left the dorm room to grab some breakfast in the Castleteria, as well as get her supplies from her locker. When she arrived, she noticed Dae was already sitting near the back of the classroom. She didn’t want to sit too close to him, so she sat nearer to the front.

Ivan stripped off his uniform, which was covered in sweat and grass stains. Leaving it in a heap on the floor, he collapsed onto his bed. He couldn’t believe his clothing had looked so terrible all day. He wasn’t used to dressing in all-white, at the agency, he usually wore only black. His room was large-much larger than his room at the agency and he had it all to himself. He hadn’t yet had time to decorate his room and he wasn’t sure if he would decorate it at all. Why decorate if he was going to be leaving soon? He adjusted himself, the soft white cotton brushing against his bare skin. This was one of the most comfortable beds he had ever been in-but for some reason he didn’t feel sleepy. Though his body was exhausted, his mind was full of thoughts-he couldn’t stop replaying the moments he had shared with Aidene. He rolled over and picked up his phone-which was given to him by the agency. It worked like a regular phone, but he had to be careful, his activity was tracked. Let’s see if I actually learned something at that sh-thole…
Sure enough, he was able to find one account-although he wasn’t completely sure it was Aidene’s. The username was @mynameisnotf-ckingaiden, and while the profile photo was Aidene, the account was private and only had twenty followers. Still… the description…well to describe it in one sentence, was very Aidene. Twenty-one followers now… Ivan clicked the follow button, he had already followed a few other people with OUAH in their bios so it wouldn’t look too suspicious that he was following another. After a few minutes of reloading, he still couldn’t see the private posts. Screw it… Ivan typed out a message to the account and sent it. So… I guess you have mononucleosis now, huh? After a long moment, the word seen popped up, and then he saw the account was typing. He propped himself up in bed, his eyes glued to the screen. Shut up. He chuckled, it was definitely Aidene.
you seem oddly excited by that prospect His reply was quick- Well… I didn’t really picture our first date at the doctor’s office. He pressed send and then sent another. But it is what it is. He doubted he really had mononucleosis, though, after all the people he’d kissed, he wouldn’t entirely knock it off the list. yeah, that’s not happening. Ivan sent her a ‘
’ emoji before replying, Guess we’ll just have to wait it out together, then
. that is the most terrifying idea i’ve heard in a long time. Aidene messaged back. But exciting all the same? When she didn’t reply, he sent one more. You kiss like an angel btw. This time she replied with, Huh, you kiss a lot of angels then? He shook his head, even though she couldn’t see. Hadn’t met one until today.
I may be good darling, but I’m no angel. Ivan chuckled to himself. Hmm… we’ll see about that. He typed out another message after that, with simply calling her angel again. angel. He could almost feel Aidene punching him in the shoulder as he read her reply- u are literally so annoying. Ivan smirked. But you love me anyways. Still doesn’t change the fact that you’re annoying. His heart skipped a beat at this, even though he knew it wasn’t what she meant. Still, he couldn’t help teasing so you love me. good to know.
you assume the wildest things, Aidene replied. You know me, Ivan typed. Tall, dark, and wild
Aidene replied to this with a photo-one of a small black bunny sitting in a field. Ivan smiled at this-he found it almost as adorable as him. Actually… it kind of resembled him, except it was black, not white. Aww, he sent. I’m cuter though, right? Her reply was surprisingly-possibly. He’d expected a “no”, but… definitely. He corrected her. possibly He raised an eyebrow-he wouldn’t let her beat him. definitely. He shot back. I could do this all night
Aidene said. Ivan raised his eyebrows. I could do you all night
He teased her. … time for you to sleep. Aidene said, obviously not knowing what to say. So, I take it that’s a no… Ivan mused to himself as he typed With you? A little soon but alright.
keep dreaming. Aidene said. I will. Ivan replied to her. Of you. He slouched a bit-he was getting tired. will you be less annoying in the morning? Aidene asked him. yes, he replied. because I’ll get to see you again. Uhuh…what’s your first class? Ivan strained to remember…what was it? He hadn’t been too concerned with the whole ‘school’ aspect. sh-t, we’d better have the same ones. Surprised you’re not ditching to be honest. He raised his eyebrows at her reply- my dad would not be happy about that. I try to keep my Dad happy. Ivan tilted his head. He knew his dad would probably want him in class as well. He began to type You keep me happy- but deleted it. What am I saying? Instead, he replied with a simple Mine wouldn’t be either. also it’s math. He smiled at her reply-which confirmed they had at least the same first class. I’ll see you in math, then. Unless you happen to ditch? Ivan laughed-he wouldn’t ditch even if she was, he wasn’t supposed to get expelled on this mission. Not if you’re going to be there. See you then, princess
She read the message right as he sent it, but after a few minutes, there was no reply. Giving up, he set his phone back on the nightstand, rolling over. Maybe now he could finally get to sleep.

The next morning, Ivan woke up, still tired. But he had to get ready, he didn’t want to be late for class. His uniform was still dirty, but even if it wasn’t, he still wasn’t in the mood to wear it. He dressed in an outfit that fit his style perfectly-a white t-shirt, black skinny jeans, and a denim jacket with a hood. He didn’t bother gelling and styling his hair, instead hiding it with a black baseball cap that read “f-ck it all”. He paired the outfit with black sneakers and a silver watch. He also put a silver stud in each ear-he had them pierced, but he normally didn’t wear earrings. He checked himself out in the mirror and smirked before tossing his stuff in his bag and heading out the door. He had spent almost half of his money from the agency in one day, so he decided to skip breakfast, no matter how much his stomach begged. He slid into an aisle seat in the very back bleacher of the mathematics classroom, tossing his bag on the seat next to him for Aidene for no reason. Then, he casually leaned back, wondering if anyone familiar would enter the classroom.

Cara yawned. She’d much rather stay in bed and sleep, but good grades were a priority for her. Besides, there was a chance she’d see Kai-the guy she’d been crushing on for a year straight despite knowing he didn’t feel the same way. Unfortunately, she hadn’t seen him yesterday, but maybe today… Cara dressed in the school uniform. She loved fashion and would’ve rather worn one of her own outfits, however, she had helped design the school uniforms, and would feel like a hypocrite for not wearing something she was so proud of making. She accessorized with chain jewelry and black platform boots, and tied her two-toned hair in a high ponytail. For makeup, she drew gothic, bold eyeliner and powdered her cheeks with lots of blush. She took a photo for her social media before slinging her black-and-white checkered backpack over one shoulder.
She had a cup of coffee for breakfast as well as a slice of toast. As she ate, her mind drifted back to Kai, and couldn’t help but smile. She really, really wanted to see him again. She waved to the girls she knew as she left the girl’s dorm hall and began making her way to the literature classroom. Cara didn’t mind literature, but she did find it a bit boring. A few doors down, she noticed a girl she had never seen before. She was probably a new student, a lot of the girls in the hallway were. Still, this girl stood out and Cara didn’t know why. Her fashion was not remarkable in the least. Perhaps it was her shocking green eyes-no it was the fact the girl had black-and-white hair, similar to hers. Should I say something? Cara slowed her steps, trying to decide whether to speak to her. Finally, she gave in-and approached her, mustering her most friendly smile. “Hi! I really like your hair!”

Kellan woke up to his phone alarm-a Beyonce song. He yawned dramatically, stretching his arms above his head before hopping out of bed to get ready. He dressed in the white school uniform, accessorizing with gold dangling earrings and a pair of white heels. He added blush to his cheeks and glitter to his eyes-he’d been experimenting with makeup lately. He used some gel to tidy up his shocking blue hair, then headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. He poured Lucky Charms into two crystal bowls-one for himself, and the other for his pet pig, Hammy. As he ate, he scrolled on his social media, admiring outfits that were much cuter than his uniform and scanning for upcoming trends.
After finishing his cereal, he slipped into his backpack-it was a faded rainbow one he’d used a couple years ago-and headed for his first class, Literature. Kellan didn’t dislike literature, but he was glad he had that first instead of Mathematics like last year. He was mostly looking forwards to Fashion Design class at the end of the day, and maybe Light Magic as well. But, all of the big fashion trade schools wanted well-rounded students, not students who only excelled in one class.
