FREYA LOCH
Freya nodded as Kacie continued speaking, judging that to be appropriate response. Not very helpful to the conversation, but it was always so much easier to let the other person talk. People loved talking. The sounds of their own voices.
She did, however, raise an eyebrow as Kacie began squeaking into the depths of the woods. Was she calling something? It sounded vaguely reminiscent to how Freya would call for fish, the same way Japanese sounded vaguely reminiscent to Spanish. In all, recognisable as a language, but completely incomprehensible without an appropriate education.
“If they’re not coming out, there’s probably a bigger animal nearby, we should probably find a different place to talk. Which is kind of weird because as far as I can tell all the animals seem to get along, it’s almost like a big monster showed up… But that’s not likely, right? I mean we would’ve notice some big monster or something.”
A snort of laughter escaped Freya’s lungs at this. Doubling, over, she took a moment to laugh to herself at the irony of the situation, before straightening up, the glow of glee still bright in her eyes as she did so.
“I’m the big monster.” She said simply, snickers of laughter still escaping her despite her attempts to control them. “Daughter of the Loch Ness Monster. Pleased to meet you.” Freya glanced at Kacie, before scanning the undergrowth, her eyes catching onto nothing, as expected at this point. Typical.

THUC KIEU SINH
Thuc waited patiently for his brother to finish ranting. How unprofessional. And unprofessional meant messy. Messy meant mistakes, and Thuc planned to take advantage of every last one of them.
“And I must ask if Kieu was such a terrible person, why’d they even bother keeping you? You are technically a bast@rd. Did they keep you because they wanted a son that badly, or because there was something they weren’t telling you?”
Thuc shrugged. He knew the reason, and felt no concern over it. “They needed an heir. My mother didn’t wish to birth any children, considering me a blessing. She took me in out of the kindness in her heart, and raised me to appreciate it, rather than the h@rl0t who couldn’t even be bothered to visit and attempt to redeem herself.”
Thuc spoke simply, his face betraying no emotion. His voice, however, dripped with a venom of thinly veiled wounds, and a dark hatred that was not cultivated solely by his adoptive mother’s lies. Darkness broiled… and cooled again as Pin did, allowing cool calculation to seep back into its rightful place.
“You claim she contained nothing but love for you. It seems that this is just the other way around, with the woman never being there, and you making endless excuses for her. Pathetic.” Thuc absentmindedly examined his nails, glancing apathetically over them to judge the boy’s response to his words.
“You’re not the only one who learned things…” Thuc muttered, rolling his eyes. “While you played rough and tumble in the dirt, I learned how to run an entrepreneurial empire. You learned to fight dirty with your fists, while I learned the arts of speech. Perhaps think before trying to judge me on assumptions. You will only make a fool of yourself.”
Despite his hatred, Thuc wondered through his careful words whether he should be making enemies so quickly. Pin could have been an asset, had Thuc played his cards differently. But in retrospect, if the weasle could not show basic respect, then Thuc had no wish to entertain his wild desires at dominance.
