Personality:
Hisao was never confrontational. He often kept his feelings to himself. Ever since he was one, Hisao was taught to protect Momo. Of course, his father cared about him as well, but Momo was so much different than him. Momo was born with white hair and Hisao with black. They wore bright colours; he wore black and white. Momo did arts and crafts while Hisao learned martial arts.
Despite knowing martial arts, Hisao would never hurt anyone. He only practiced for the exercise. As well as his practice, Hisao always made time for his studies. Seeing as Nishi and Akio were his only friends, he had a lot of free time. That wasn’t to say Hisao disliked having so few friends. In fact, he wasn’t exactly social.
Don’t get him wrong, Hisao can carry a conversation. One with a tense aura as Hisao tries his best to be friendly white everything he says comes out sounding hostile. One wouldn’t expect him to have such a deep voice or formal way of speaking based on his relaxed demeanour. Maybe Hisao was a little too invested in Shakespearean literature.
Hisao is strong-willed. He often runs away from drama or conflict in social situations, but if something is in his way, Hisao won’t give up on his goals - whatever they may be. He enjoys reading and writing poems. Hisao’s aware that he’s next in line to be King, and has limited the probability of becoming a famous poet, but that won’t stop him from writing as often as he can - and sharing all of them with Akio.
Biography:
The first born child to Kuzma and his princess. It was a little more than a month before Vulpes was born, and a year until his one and only sibling would be born - how was admittedly smaller than Hisao. Besides becoming close friends with Vulpes, not much happened until he was nine; when Kuzma assigned Hisao and Vulpes to protect Momo. This meant that Vulpes had to move into the room right next to Momo. She wasn’t exactly thrilled with moving away from her parents, but she definitely seemed a little happier after she realized Hisao would be beside her, as well.
Time progressed and all three of them became close friends - Hisao and Vulpes becoming a little more than just friends. Hisao was 15 when Vulpes asked him out, and he reluctantly said yes. He didn’t know why he felt so awkward dating her - he wanted to be with her. At least, he thought he did. Hisao had never had an urge to date a girl. He never wanted to do anything with them, either. He chalked it up to being young, but his confusion didn’t subside for long.
The two continued dating for a year, yet throughout that year Hisao felt… off Like he was doing something wrong. For his 16th birthday, Vulpes wanted to do something special for his birthday - more specifically, she wanted to take their relationship to the next level. Sure, the two had kissed a couple of times, but Hisao never imagined she would want to go further than that.
Then Hisao did something odd, he said no. He wouldn’t; couldn’t. Vulpes ran out crying, and he was left sitting with his head in his hands, wondering why on earth he rejected her. It wasn’t until a month later until he realized why. Hisao was enjoying the quietness of his room when he looked through his window and found himself staring at the gardener. The gardener’s curly black hair falling over his forehead that Hisao realized - he was gay.
Now, Hisao could have told his father. He could have told Vulpes, who had ignored him ever since that night, and Momo, who was seemed to be spending a lot of time with Vulpes, and while they didn’t ignore Hisao, Momo wasn’t exactly dying to talk to him. If Hisao had told Vulpes, maybe she wouldn’t be so hurt. Maybe she would even consider being his friend again… she had been his best friend, after all. But Hisao was still in shock. He wasn’t raised to believe that it was wrong. When Momo came out as genderfluid, Kuzma was more than accepting. It was just Hisao who wasn’t comfortable telling other people, yet.
During his time of realization, Hisao made a friend. Nishi was a white dove who had been perching on his window every day. Hisao started feeding the beautiful bird, and eventually, she started sleeping the night in his room. He bought a cage for her to sleep in, though the cage door was never closed.
One particularly chilly day in April, Nishi flew through his window with a letter attached to her leg. Hisao opened the letter and, surprisingly enough, it was from the gardener. The letter talked about seeing Nishi coming in and out of his room, so he managed to catch her attention and attach the letter. He thought it would be cool if they could start exchanging letters.
It took a while for Hisao to warm up to the idea, but he replied the same day and the two started writing letters every day. The gardener’s name was Akio and he was less than a year older than Hisao. Though the two shared plenty of letters, they also hung out once a week or so. Their relationship isn’t official, but Akio accepts Hisao’s request to keep whatever they have on the down-low.
Less than a year later, Hisao received his OUH invitation. Kuzma insisted on him attending, despite his pleas. Akio assured Hisao that they could still send letters and that he would wait for him to come back, and that he hoped Hisao would do the same. Hisao didn’t know how to respond, he merely nodded and made a silent resolution to himself that he would tell Momo and Vulpes the truth. Even if it would be difficult for him to explain.

Nishi is extremely intelligent. Not just for a bird, she has the intelligence of a really smart dog. Maybe even the equivalent of a ten-year-old child. She’s selfish in the way that she does what’s best for her. She chose being with a caretaker over the rest of her flock. But Nishi has done plenty of things for both. Well, she’s done more for Hisao, technically.
Nishi has no problem with being around people. She is very outgoing and will often land near picnics hoping for some food - despite there being a specific order made by Hisao requesting people to not feed her. Interestingly enough, Vulpes fed her the most in the entire kingdom - Hisao exempt.

There was nothing particularly interesting about him, he was simply sitting in his room studying. Perhaps it was his mellow demeanor that made her want to hang out with him more. Nishi continued spending time with her flock, but not nearly as much as she once did. She usually visited three times a week, until they wanted to move somewhere else. Nishi didn’t want to leave Hisao, who had fed her, taken care of her, gave her blankets to make a nest in. Nishi decided to stay with Hisao. She could always see her flock whenever they came through again.
On a particularly chilly day in April, Nishi was flagged down by the gardener. She had noticed Hisao and him looking at each other quite often, but as a bird she had no real concept of what human relationships were. Akio, the gardener, then attached a letter to her leg. She wasn’t sure what he wanted her to do with it, so she just went back to Hisao, who removed the letter and read the letter.
Not too long later, Hisao wrote and attached a letter to her leg as well. She let out the bird equivalent of a sigh, and flew down looking for Akio - maybe he’d know what to do with the letter. She was right, as he took the letter off her leg and the two boys continued exchanging letters daily, as well as spending time with each other. She eventually figured out what the point of the letters were, and continued being a carrier dove for the two.
When Hisao was accepted into OUH, the two boys figured Nishi could drop the letters off at the post office this time, as travelling to a completely different realm would be too much for her.

Zena grew up different. She was everything people hated. Confident, fiery, plus size, but she could also be quiet.
When she was younger (around 12-14) she started to realize that she didn’t look like the people she surrounded herself with. She was an early bloomer, she had hips and breasts before any of her friends did. Not to mention that she is plus size.
Her early development earned her a lot of bullying. They bullied her for her body and they bullied her for her having two mothers. The bullying caused her to start hating her body, every piece of it. She hated the way her stomach looked, the way her hips made her look, and she hated the way her breasts were stared at by immature middle school boys, but she couldn’t tell anyone that. She wasn’t close enough friends with anyone to share these feelings, and she sure wasn’t going to share these new feelings with her moms.
Every emotion that wasn’t happiness was bottled up inside of her. On the outside, she seemed like a happy girl, but on the inside she wasn’t happy, she was far from it.
After a while, she learned that she should share these feelings with her moms. So, she did. She told them everything…
They still loved her after that, which she couldn’t believe. She figured they would hate her like everyone else did. Later on, her moms told her that they had a surprise for her. They had gotten a letter addressed to her. They knew it was from a great highschool and she was going to it.
