Is not laughing at a joke being a snowflake?

This is something that has been on my mind. Because whenever I hear a joke which I don’t find funny I don’t laugh obviously but then I get people telling me I have no sense of humour and I should stop being such a snowflake.

Now in my mind a “snowflake” is supposed to be somebody who gets offended and sensative over things. I don’t tend to get offended over jokes but if I don’t find them funny I won’t laugh. My sense of humour is pretty dark to be completely honest so it vaguelly amuses me that people think I’m offended.

I don’t even say anything about the joke, I don’t go “that’s not funny” or anything I just simply don’t laugh.

So what do you guys think?

People who can’t take it when you don’t find their joke funny are snowflakes

That’s pretty much my take on things. Does my opinion mean that much to them that they call me a snowflake for not finding them funny?

besides I am literally that person who you can say anything to and I won’t get offended, I might tell you if you have stepped over a line but context is key

Also, just because you don’t find it funny, it doesn’t mean you’re offended!

Like, transphobic jokes? I don’t find them funny in the slightest. I’m not personally offended by them because I’m cis (sort of) and I’m privileged in that I don’t have to be hurt by jokes like that, but I think jokes that punch down are pathetic and boring :woman_shrugging:t4:

Exactly :joy:

Yeah I don’t find them funny I think they’re a cheap shot at a group of people. While they don’t offend me, they don’t amuse me which is the point of a joke.

Oh, you’ve touched on a bit of reactionary rhetoric here. A lot of reactionaries like to think their jokes are very funny. So when they realise that noone outside their echo chamber of edgy idiots finds their jokes funny, they think it can’t possibly be them. It must be the people listening to the joke.

So their initial reaction is to try and discredit the person who didnt find them funny. They can’t accept that maybe their ‘joke’ wasn’t actually that funny.

And this is the crux of how a lot of snowflake comedians are crying about censorship. Because an audience didn’t find their joke funny, said as much, and they self-censored. Simple as that

Also a lot of them like to punch down, which is inherently against the typical way comedy works.

Punching up makes good comedy.

So pretty much they’ll say a joke to their friends who find it funny because friends usually share the same kind of humour but if they say it to somebody outside of that they get surprised because the joke isn’t actually that funny?

Sounds very familiar

I hate that word “snowflake”. Just because you don’t find a joke funny doesn’t make you one.

If someone makes a mean joke about Asians, I’m not gonna laugh cuz it ain’t funny.

People who get offended over people not finding their cringey jokes funny are snowflakes who feel that they’re entitled to people laughing at their cringe humour

Lol if a joke isn’t funny then there’s no point in laughing at it. Take it or leave it. :purple_heart: :butterfly:

I don’t know who needs to hear this (I do actually) but just because you tell a joke it doesn’t mean you’re owed laughter :shell::cloud_with_rain:

You can’t really win with these people. If they make a joke like this, and you criticize it, you get called a snowflake, if you laugh at it, they’ll say “oh, so you know how insert choice of word you are”. You just can’t win.

But there’s usually something very funny, if you counter their joke with a joke about them, oh boy, get ready to see how offended they get. Either all jokes get criticized or no jokes allowed, that’s what I think ¯_(ツ)_/¯

*I realized I called these jokes, but I’m referring to ideology jokes to be clear

The answer is very simple: nope, you aren’t a snowflake for not laughing at an unfunny joke :eyes::sparkles::green_heart:

Bump.

If you don’t find a joke funny, you aren’t being a “snowflake” by not laughing at it.

What’s your opinion on the term snowflake?:white_heart:

The term snowflake, from where I come from, is used to insult that person who is easily offended by things and takes everything to heart.

But I don’t think a person who shows no reaction at all to the joke or anything should be warranted to be called as snowflake :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s annoying when people randomly call you a “snowflake” just because you disagree with something that isn’t really funny or something like that. If you don’t find a joke funny, that’s not being a snowflake. Even I don’t understand most jokes & metaphors myself.
