I tried telling my mom but she says that it’s just an old man and that it’s not his fault and stuff so I just kept it to myself
She also said that it was funny how an older guys was hitting on me and stuff so I just stopped talking to people ,in real life, about it
This topic is really important and I am glad you made it a seperate thread @passionfruit.
Alright now that those have been merged, I’m gonna ask some questions for everyone
Some questions for everyone
- Do you feel scared walking by yourself generally?
- Do you feel scared walking by yourself at night?
- What do you do to make yourself feel more comfortable if you have to walk by yourself?
- What do you do to not have to walk around by yourself?
- Have you ever been catcalled? Is it a frequent thing for you?
yes I do
especially during night, yes
get rid of the victim blaming mentality and teach men not to be creeps who invade ourselves
I will generally avoid walking alone at night or call my mom to pick me up
Yes, and it’s happened about 10 times for me, no matter what I wear-
Yes
But I’m also scared of being kidnapped/robbed since I’ve heard that happens too-
Walk faster, pretend to be on the phone, pull my hood up
My mom always offers to wait for me outside somewhere when I’m coming back home alone
But if I’m with friends (pfft imagine) we always walk home together
I’ve had morons whistle at me and my mom from a car
Luckily, no
I’ve never understood why people think that behavior like that is related to what people are wearing. It blames the victim for their own harassment, it creates some kind of obligation for women to dress a particular way, and it doesn’t actually deal with the issue or actually pose any kind of solution to harassment
Oui I do
It’s an equal amount of fear to in the day
It’s not good but I tend to zone out…I’ve nearly been hit by cars a few times due to this but I can’t help it my brain just wonders but it’s not been as bad mainly because I only leave the house once a week
If someone I know is headed my way I’ll tag along with them usually
Oh boy yeah I have been but it’s not frequent
Tbh my reasons for being scared are different to alot of people and hard to explain
Half/half. Depends on the environment and the location I’m in. If it’s a more safe area then no.
A b s o l u t e l y
I make sure to have myself look less presentable, less pretty, more covered up, my hood up
Call someone to drive me home. I have a friend I rely on to do that
Yes, it’s disgusting. It’s not too frequent but I’ve had it happen a good amount of times
Wait how is this in watching for me lmao-
Youve probably had the confessions thread on watching so since she moved it this was part of the confessions thread so this is one watching too? Cuz I have it on watching too
might have been something that happened when it was merged?
Ohh i guess
I would love to talk about the topic once i’ve seen my notifs tho
Nah, not really. I used to do it all the time
Ehh again not really, but I live in a generally safe neighborhood and there are usually people and other cars around.
I have a car so I drive and I usually try to drive my friends if they have to walk home alone
Once or twice I think and no, it’s not that frequent
exactly, it isn’t our obligation to dress more “modest” because of inappropriate behavior like that
and it just adds to the victim blaming mentality
it’s happened about 10 times for me
Yeah that’s definitely something that I really try to do whenever I can. Walking by myself always makes me super nervous, so I’ll hang around somewhere that I think is safe for a while until I can get a ride. If I can’t get one, I’ll try and be on the phone with someone because at least then they would know if something happened, and it calms me down a bit
Yeah (I’m a really paranoid person)
Definitely (being in the dark makes my usual paranoia skyrocket)
I put my earbuds in and listen to music
I try to always go somewhere with a friend or family member, but if that isn’t possible and I have go more than a few blocks, I take an Uber.
Thankfully I haven’t.
what a rad friend
I’m sorryyy it feels horrible and so uncomfortable when it does happen
