Because when I applied to university, I applied and was accepted to the Bachelor of Arts program.
Some majors are direct entry, but for the most part, first year is a general year where you can take whatever courses you want and then at the end of the year you decide if you want to do a major and declare what it will be

The US might be different, but thatās how most Canadian universities do it
It just lets you take a wider range of classes in first year
(For example, Iām taking film, linguistics, drama, French and Japanese)

I wanted to go to the academy of arts and you canāt go if you donāt pick what you want to study and get your degree in so I picked interior design and now thatās all I do
