Okay guys

we have an 82 yo man nowand his daughter broguht him in because he’s been acting weeeeird. like super paranoid, talks out loud like he’s in convo, during a recent argument, he accused his daughter of being an “imposter” and stealking his personal items

his gygiene is bad

he doesn’t enjoy hobbies anymore

he has increased forgetfullness

what’s up?

he has ALZHEIMERS

he has a 2 year history of forgetfullness and functional impairment with psychotic symptoms so alzheimers is the best explanation

as it gets worse, we’ll see other symptoms like apathy, deperssion, delusions, etc

Okay now we have a 65 yo with and acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (Heart attack). They put a stent in his left circumflex artery and gave him beta blockers (reduces heart rate) and antiplatelt agents

on DAY 3 he starts having chest pain that’s sharp and goes to neck and sholders; temp is 99.5, bp is 130.80, pulse is 90; what’s up?

ACUTE PERICARDITIS

radiation to the neck kinda tells us this. it often happens after an MI.

it usually doesn’t last long and we just need to give him some supportive treatment
