Welcome to the October Poetry Competition! Let’s get some amazing entries and show some fantastic writing.

The theme for this contest (based on our weekly theme) is ominous. Hopefully you’ll come up with some amazing pieces! :two_hearts:

Since I totally messed up posting this on time, you will have until October 17th to submit your pieces and then there will be a public vote for the winner! The winner will have their winning piece put up on Instagram!

Because no contest is complete without rules, here’s what you need to know:

  • Maximum of 20 lines.
  • You can submit up to three pieces for the contest.
  • You cannot submit work that you do not own.
  • Your work must fit the theme in some way, although you are allowed to openly interpret the theme.

Help me
It’s dark. Cramped. Am I in a box?
Knock. Knock. Heavy breathing. What happened?
I try to scream, but no one can hear you when you’re
Six feet under. Bleeding fingers, nails ripped and painful.
Voice raw from screaming. No one will help. I can’t breathe.
This is how I die, people thinking I’m already gone. How…how
Could this happen? Lightheaded now. My lungs are screaming, gasping for air that’s not there. In. Out. In. Out. Breath coming out in desperate gasping, rattles. Someone. Anyone. Help. Me…I…can’t…breathe.

From what I can see it’s a person probably have been tortured and is dying in a confined place where no matter how much scream none can hear them?
