The carriage rocked and juddered, its protectors armed to the teeth and baring the Dukeโ€™s flag, but it was the cold curious eyes that peeked out from between bars that most onlookers found the most disturbing of it all. Sharp, mercyless, trained eyes. The kind that had seen more then most eyes should. The kind that was looking for moreโ€ฆ
The guardsmen came to a halt with the carriage, and they all readied their weapons and pikes, pointing them towards the doors where the prison cart was locked firmly. The carriage man went to unlock the back. He hesitated with the handle, and wiped his brow as he checked for the guard captainโ€™s permission. One nod of the head, and the doors swung open.

โ€œYou know, Iโ€™ve been getting a lot of hostile vibes from you guys this entire wayโ€ฆ at this rate Iโ€™m starting to think that you lot donโ€™t like me. Not scared, are you?โ€
The figure in the carriage sat on the cold metal bench, clothes still fresh despite being covered in straw and her body coated with a mix of dust and scars. The cocky smile she gave only made the guards more nervous. She leaned forward, and they all shifted to ready, but she only moved to lean on her legs. She had a very boyish posture. Her wrists jangled with the manacles and chains. โ€œSoโ€ฆ you gonna let me out?โ€
โ€œI will remind you once more that you are here on the good graces of his lordship and the Baron. It is their reputation that is now on the line, but as agreed they place their utmost trust in-โ€
โ€œDAAAANG that carriage driver is hot!โ€
The Guard captain had to stutter, unsure what to do by such an outlandish interruption. โ€œMiss Umbria, as I was sayingโ€ฆโ€
Umbria sneered and waved him off, looking around her with immense curiosity. โ€œYeah, yeah. Donโ€™t do anything stupid, I got you. I heard you back when you said it the first time right before I even told you my name. Gods knows how many time you have said it since then. So, can you hurry it up? Iโ€™m busting for a p*ss right now. Been holdinโ€™ it in since yesterday.โ€
Sighing, the Guardsman just gave up, taking the keys and releasing her from the mandatory manicals that Cynaria had enforced they place on her while traveling through the kingdom. Well, it hadnโ€™t just been Cynaria. Almost every kingdom they had travelled through had demanded the exact same thing. Do not stop. Do not let her out. Keep her chained and locked up at all costs. And every time they had sent an armed escort to ensure that their demands were met. On the other hand, safest ride ever.
โ€œJust, try not to do anything that could ruin usโ€ฆโ€ at his last words, Umbria smirked.
โ€œWhat, scared Iโ€™ll slip up and kill someone?โ€
The guard, an old acquaintance who she knew worked more for the barron then the Duke whoโ€™s crest he was wearing, gave her a long and serious look. she winked. โ€œCanโ€™t make any promises.โ€

With the manicals off, Umbria finally felt the weight of the journey ease off her shoulders. It had been a terrible ride. Uncomfortable, cramped, not to mention noisy what with all the clanky tin men following them around. She gave a stretch, and cracked her neck, laughing as the feeling of freedom made her feel so much better about this deal. โ€œSo, how long 'till you lot come back for me, then? Are we saying one month? Maybe two? Thereโ€™s no rush, obviously, but you knowโ€ฆ my crime lords arenโ€™t gonna kill themselves.โ€
โ€œWould you keep your voice down?!โ€ the captain slammed a hand over her mouth, and she scowled at him from under his glove. He removed his hand only after checking that nobody had possibly heard her. โ€œUnder no circumstance are you to let the people here know that you are a former killer. Understand?โ€
โ€œYou glove tastes like ass. Did you know that?โ€
He went to say something, but was cut off abruptly as a footman appeared by the side of the carriage, nervously looking at the thing as if it was about to jump out and eat him. the Captain frowned. โ€œCan we help you, sir?โ€
He shakingly stepped up to the two of them. Clearly he was unnerved by the many guards currently surrounding them. โ€œUmโ€ฆ y-your bagsโ€ฆ s-s-sir?โ€
โ€œOh, right.โ€ The captain whistled, and in an instant two of his guards went off to fetch a horse carrying a small collection of bags and boxes. Umbria rose a brow.
โ€œYa couldnโ€™t have gotten a donkey to take that? Not even a cart or something to pull?โ€
โ€œWe made do with what we had. Youโ€™re lucky we brought you anything at all.โ€

They watched in silence as the footman lead the horse away, no doubt to unload and carry her bags to whatever place she would likely be staying. Umbria couldnโ€™t help but notice that most of the other lords and ladies had arrived. Not a surprise. It was roughly midday now, and they were expected to arrive late, what with all the security stops and whatnot.
โ€œAgain. Donโ€™t tell anyone, and make sure to keep your head down. We will return for you once the Baron believes you have learned enough about how to be a lady. The Duke has also assured that he will pay for any extra lessons you need to catch up on your education.โ€
Umbria scowled, annoyed that they had to keep bringing up the fact that she had never gone to school before 16, and was beyond way behind when it came to such matters. โ€œHow thoughtful of him. Now come on, get out of my sight, I donโ€™t want people to think you know me.โ€
That was the first time that the captain scoffed, and it was a laugh that only made her more angry. As he turned to his men, he glanced back at her. โ€œSomehow, I doubt youโ€™ll be able to avoid that, miss wanted criminal assassin.โ€
She growled as she watched them slowly go, leaving her to deal with her own missions as her and the Baron had previously agreed. As she stepped towards the gates, a smile slowly crept back onto her face.
this was it. No guards, no watchmen, no snitches. It was the closest she would feel to freedom until she actually earned it. For the entire journey she had hoped that it would be a grand and exhilarating experience. She planned to not let it dissapoint.
โ€œWell, lets see what this baby has to offer me.โ€ Whistling a jaunty tune, Umbria made her way into the grand old Academy.

He laughed, shaking her head, โ€œI wonโ€™t get mad. I hope you keep track of it, but I wonโ€™t be angry. Actually, perhaps soon after weโ€™re used to the school we can head down to that town like area, find somewhere/something safe to keep it in? How does that sound?โ€ he suggested in a chipper, excited almost, tone.
Slowly he lead her over to a white metal bench with flower designs that was located near some hedges. He sat down and layed an arm across the top of the bench.
โ€œOkay, I hate wasps too. Well that jewelry making may just have us forget about having to go to town, maybe a necklaceโ€ฆor bracelet orโ€ฆโ€ he forze mid speech at her last point, โ€œAdopted? You guys can be adopted into nobility in Stormholt?โ€

Her arms dropped by her side, her mouth hanging slightly open. Her eyes were wide and her head tilted to the side. โ€œYouโ€ฆyouโ€™re not going to yell back? Like you did in the hallway?โ€ she asked, โ€œI wouldnโ€™t expect punishment butโ€ฆwellโ€ฆI didnโ€™t think youโ€™d find the meed to apologize.โ€ She admitted, completely baffled. Probably looking like a fish in the sense she couldnโ€™t find the muscles to regain control of her body.
That was until the reaction she expected came. The eye contact being avoided, the cold tone in his voice. She was no longer surprised. Not relieved by any means, but not surprised. And not blaming him for giving the cold shoulder either.

โ€œOh. Ummmโ€ฆokayโ€ She nodded, โ€œIโ€™ll let you be then and head to my room. To unpack,โ€ she mumbled enough so he could hear her, โ€œIโ€™ll see you around. Andโ€ฆif you donโ€™t want to work on this whole โ€˜planโ€™, you donโ€™t have to. I donโ€™t want to get you into trouble for this.โ€ She explained before tightly clutching the fabric of her dress sleeves and shufflling away aimlessly. Once again unsure where to go, where the dorms even were.

โ€œThat sounds fun. But we wouldnโ€™t just have to get the gem fixed. Maybe we could do some sight seeing or something.โ€ She shrugs her shoulders. Ali had never left Stormholt before so it would be cool to go around and see some new sights. She sits down on the white bench next to him. Staying a foot or so away from him.
โ€œYeah, Iโ€™m just not very good at jewelry making.โ€ She decided to not comment on the wasps. He probably didnโ€™t dislike them for the same reason that she did. Ali always thought that wasps were evil little fake bumblebees. She sighs deeply. โ€œMy adopted parents couldnโ€™t have children. I was only 6 at the time so they decided to take me in. So he decides to hang out in the gardens. Looking around at the flowers and listening to the birds chirping.

โ€œYou canโ€™t be that terrible. Probably better than me, someoen who never has made it before. We could have a bit of a workshop together.โ€

โ€œIts more like a hobby than an actual skill.โ€ This wasnt completely true. She had sold some of her jewelry. Not that her family needed the money. Ali really wanted to give it to people who couldnโ€™t afford wedding rings for free. But people always insisted on paying.
โ€œYes, they are extremely nice to me.โ€ Nicer than I deserve. The dark thought crept into her mind. She quickly pushed it back out. โ€œThey just want me to be happy. They were th ones that convinced me to go to this school.โ€ She smiles, remembering them. They always made her day.

โ€œWell, lucky for you, you can come here get a career if you want and then be able to assist in support them from getting that career. Youโ€™re a rather lucky lady for that.โ€ He nodded โ€œPlus, if your birth parents werenโ€™t so nice then forget about them. If you given them any consideration you still think of them as parents. Nicolas just didnโ€™t understand. It wasnโ€™t so easy to forget about them after all theyโ€™ve done. The truth is, is that those were her real parents. Whether she like it, or not. โ€œI guess youโ€™re right,โ€ she says with a sad tone. It wasnโ€™t his fault that he didnโ€™t understand Aliโ€™s pain. She wasnโ€™t really opening up to him either so he had no way of knowing.
โ€œI donโ€™t know. Theyโ€™re nice and accepting. But at the end of the day, I donโ€™t know, I just wish they were my real parents. Sometimes I worry that Iโ€™m going to turn out like my birth parents. And itโ€™s a scary thought.โ€ If Ali ever had kids, would she treat them the same way that she was? She wasnโ€™t a violent person. But when youโ€™re taught certain things as a child. You may think that itโ€™s the right thing to do. She was trying to hold back the tears in eyes. She looked away from Nick. โ€œBeing an only child wouldnโ€™t change the way your parents treat you,โ€ she says in a cold tone. โ€œFrom what I can see they have a reason to be mad at you. The tears on her face were visible. โ€œYou havenโ€™t been keeping appearances up at all. For goodness sake, you asked me if you could hide in my room!โ€ Ali had snapped. Something she hadnโ€™t done in a while. It wasnโ€™t the boy. It was what they were talking about. It brought backup all of the times she wanted to yell at her parents but was to scared. Realizing what she had done, she starts apologizing, โ€œI am so sorry. I- I-โ€ฆโ€ she trails off not knowing to say. The damage had already been done. โ€œI shouldnโ€™t have said anything.โ€ She looked down at her shoes. But can barely see through the tears in her eyes.

โ€œTilt your head forward a little to help with the nosebleed,โ€ the first man added.
โ€œYes, thank you,โ€ Harlan told him while taking the second manโ€™s handkerchief that he was offered and leaning forward. He was being polite even though he already knew this since this was what his family did. Thankfully, it didnโ€™t hurt too much.

With that last rather rude and unnecessary comment, Harlan smeared the hankie under his nose to remove as much blood as he could before handing it back to Sachion. โ€œHere. It made her wonder if he had ever comforted a sobbing female before. She pulled herself together and was about to reply when he continued speaking, being more direct this time.

She was surprised that he actually told her all those things about his sister since most people tended to speak good things about their siblings to make themselves look good. Clearly, Musa wasnโ€™t one of those people. She smiled when he said not to blame herself, but was caught by surprise when he said that heโ€™d punch her kneecaps.

โ€œNo, my parents donโ€™t think that they have a lot of children. Compared to the rest of my aunts and unclesโ€™ families, we donโ€™t have that many. They were actually thinking of having another kid when I left.โ€

โ€œAs to why I never left the manor,โ€ Jacob shrugged. โ€œMy grandparents are extremely over protective and they donโ€™t let anyone leave unless they have a good reason. โ€œWhat I did for funโ€ฆโ€ He thought hard about it. โ€œNothing really, I usually just babysat my younger siblings and cousins in my free time. โ€œCynaria?โ€ Aless asked, tilting her head. โ€œI wouldnโ€™t say monumental, but it is big. Cynaria is a very influential country with connections almost everywhere. It has some of the most advanced technology available and new things come out of the workshop everyday. Most of the nobles there are from the older families that were there when Cynaria was founded, so the royals donโ€™t have to worry about loyalty among the nobles. There are many beautiful things to see there, like the capital, the palace, the kingsโ€™s archways.โ€

Like a phamtom, the girl walks silently through the forest. Her footsteps barely sound and no manner of beast notices her as she silently stalks her prey. Her victim is a man with hair as red as embers. He was currently standing in the clearing, looking at who knows what. He was quite oblivious to the fact that his life was about to end.

The girl silently pulled out a dagger. She knew what she had to do. She didnโ€™t feel sad about what was about to happen, only feeling a bit of pity for her victim. After all, she had no skills in using a dagger, so his death was going to be quite painful. But no worries, she was a fast learner. It would only take her a few minuets to get the hang of it and end him.

She licked her lips as she thought about how beautiful his expression would be as the light slowly left his eyes. Her next victim would make the most beautiful puppet. She slowly approached him with the dagger raised and-

SMACK!

Cecile frowned as the stick in her hand managed to hit the man before her on the head. She had though he would move or avoid her strike or do something. Instead, it was as if he didnโ€™t notice her approaching. She sighed lightly, it was no fun if her prey didnโ€™t react.

Lucy stopped before making her way to the entrance of the academy. She noticed a woman in red with a group of servants behind her as she walked by. She was slightly stunned at how many servants she had. Even my house doesnโ€™t have that many servants, She thought.

The woman was talking to the man not standing far from her and they seemed to be in deep conversation. She silently labeled them as a potential couple. Iโ€™ve always wanted to go to Cynaria. To see what itโ€™s like and stuff. I just want your personal view of it as well. It must be a wonderful place to live in, and the education must be very enlightening. I wanna met the person who plans their strategy. He must be a brilliant man. I wish I could know everything about anything. All that knowledge.โ€
He looked over at Alessandra to make sure he hadnโ€™t lost her in his little blather. "Sorry, Miss Winchester, I often just ramble on like so. I just love education. Itโ€™s okay if you donโ€™t understand.

Silas Curtis

Silas pulled his horse to a halt outside the academy. A footman walked up to him and Silas untied the baggage attached to his horse and handed it to the footman. He looked up at the building in front of him. The first word that came to mind was โ€˜Imposingโ€™. The way the academy towered over all the nearby trees and buildings gave off an imposing vibe.

โ€œItโ€™s not nearly as as imposing as Grandfatherโ€™s manor.โ€ He said to his horse, Midnight.

The footman stopped in his steps and looked back at him with a strange expression. Silas naturally ignored him as he continued talking.

โ€œThe academy would have a better impression on people if it didnโ€™t look like it came straight out of a fairy tale.โ€ He sighed lightly. โ€œI do hope that my time here isnโ€™t all cupcakes and rainbows.โ€

He led Midnight away from the academy as he walked toward the direction of the stables. He knew where the stables were because of the hoof marks on the ground. He followed them until he saw a stable. Dismounting, he took Midnightโ€™s reins and led him into the stables.

Silas noticed that all the stalls were full besides the one near the young lady who was taking care of her horse. He approached her with Midnight in tow.

He cleared his throat. โ€œExcuse me, but is this stall taken?โ€ He asked gesturing to the stall next to her.

โ€œItโ€™s dumb.โ€ I laugh. None of my family loves books. โ€œWhat are your favoriteโ€ฆtypes of books?โ€ Maybe I could get good suggestions.
โ€œI like walking around the kingdom.โ€ I say. โ€œAnd, I guess youโ€™re right.โ€
I sigh. โ€œYeah, I miss my little siblings, theyโ€™re so funny, but Iโ€™m here in my young adulthood and theyโ€™re so far in age apart. I loved making stories with my sister, playing games with my brother. Do you have any siblings? If so, do you miss them? If not, do you miss your parents?โ€ I ask. โ€œOr any friends you miss?โ€
