Hey everyone! I finally got around to creating this thread after a month eheh, and I’m super excited to dive into all things books with everyone! Whether you’re an avid reader or just getting back into it, this is the perfect place to share your thoughts, recommendations, and everything in between
Guidelines:
1. Spoiler Alerts:If you’re discussing plot points or major twists, please be considerate and blur those spoilers. Just use the spoiler tag to keep it fair for everyone who’s still reading. To blur text, you can write it like this: [spoiler] text in between, ending it like [/ / spoiler] but with no spaces and one slash Or just find it in the dropdown options under the little cog
2. Rants & Raves: Have strong feelings about a book? Want to vent about a character’s choices or a plot twist that made you scream? This is the space for that! Just make sure to keep it respectful—we love diverse opinions!
Let’s Get Started!
What book are you currently reading, and how are you finding it?
Any recommendations for a twisty mystery or a cutesy romance?
Any books that profoundly changed your perspective or really stuck with you?
I love any book recs, as well as giving any in the romance department
Looking forward to hearing all your thoughts, recommendations, and rants! Happy reading, everyone!
Bruh, I literally finished The Only One Left by Riley Sager barely thirty minutes ago and…
It was WILD
Totally recommend, although note it’s pretty slow for the first quarter of the book
Here’s my very cryptic Fable review
Slightly Spoily?
Holy. Crap. At first slow paced, I got wrapped up in it. I believed so many lies, half truths, and was in disbelief at the real truth.
Something in me almost suspected it, but the other half knew it wasn’t possible. And to say, this description doesn’t even give it half of it away. But it will make you think about it, so… happy reading.
Uhh, totally the book I just read for mystery
As for cutesy Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams
And speaking of Fable…. Totally follow me
Love stalking peoples reads
I’m trying to get back into reading more so I don’t have many book recommendations as of now. Only The Canterville Ghost if you like stuff in the horror genre. Its also a bit funny as well
I mean I like it so far, its a James Baldwin work, but I def preferred giovanni’s room and there are some things said about women that make me purse my lips, but so far do like it
red white and royal blue or I kissed Sarah wheeler
bunny
giovanni’s room, on earth we’re briefly gorgeous, Frankenstein and wuthering heights
I’m currently reading The Handmaid’s Tale for a book club.
I’m almost finished with it. I like it, I don’t love it though. Mainly because I’m not a fan of the writing style, and it doesn’t really leave much of an impression on me the way that other books do. It’s a good book, well written, I have some qualms with certain things that I won’t mention here because it would probably be getting into spoilers (and I don’t feel like getting into it at the moment tbh). It’s been probably not gonna be a five star read. I can discuss it, it’s interesting, but again I’m not obsessed with it the way I am with other books/authors.
I’m also reading Crime and Punishment. This, I am more obsessed with. I am absolutely obsessed with Notes from Underground and C&P is basically a continuation of that novel, so of course I would be obsessed with this one as well. There are so many things that interest me about it! I’m just really academically interested in Dostoevsky and Russian lit in general tbh, which I’ve just been exploring primarily by myself since my university does not have anything related to Russia—language or lit.
I’ve only gotten two sections in, though. Ive been kinda busy with school and I finally found someone to discuss it with but to do so I thought it’d be best to read in sections so we can talk about specific things.
Oh, then as well as reading this one, I recommend the author’s first series, The Thursday Murder Club.
It’s four books and again, they’re humorous mysteries. It’s about a group of four pensioners in a retirement village who solve crimes. Each book has been number one in the UK.
And it’s currently being made into a film. Produced my Steven Spielberg, directed by Chris Columbus, and the four leads are: Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Ben Kingsley, and Pierce Brosnan. As well as having MANY other big names too.
Ah I’m reading My dark Vanessa and … woah. It’s so heavy but brilliant
A really heavy topic of abuse and grooming (a take on Lolita) but I can’t stop reading and wanting to find out what happens next
Cutesy romance def Love and other words if you haven’t read it already!!! my favorite
I’m sure they’ll have at least the first Thursday Murder Club, if not the others too. But as for the new series, We Solve Murders, I think it’s too new for the library.
