Please can someone just @ the type of people you are referring to as 'elites’. It’s really hard to figure out who you’re talking about, and so we therefore cannot make any changes. I can’t see why the people who get tagged would be offended, because really it’s constructive criticism.

They didn’t @ anyone in the original post, but even if they did, I’d probably blur it unless they said they didn’t mind. Don’t want anyone to feel called out or attacked :woman_shrugging:t5:

Also, you’re going to have to be patient with me. This is the first Rp that I’ve created, so I’m new to this. I am getting help, though.

I’m so anxious when I write my posts or make characters. I always feel like they’re not good enough and I can’t help it. Poor me!:D

BRO SAME :sob: OR OR OR I FEEL LIKE MY CHARACTERS ARE JUST ALL COPIES OF EACH OTHER

You are definitelyyyy not alone in that thinking but I can almost guarantee you that they are much better than you think they are!

Can we make characters who are racist or who discriminate? This, of course, doesn’t support it.

Okay so I spoke with Cali and technically yes, you can make those kinds of characters, but you can’t do it for like no reason. You have to show why they’re like that and how it affects them, and the way it affects them has to be negative. It’s similar to the way that drugs and alcohol and whatever are allowed, where it has to be mostly negative portrayal. You know, the 70% rule, where at least 70% of the portrayal has to illustrate why it’s bad.

And also, you’ve gotta be careful with actually RPing that character, as if you use a racial slur or something, it can still be flagged for hate speech, even though it’s the character and not you.

I H.A.T.E. having to form relationships before RPs even start. I do want them to be acquinted with people if the RP starts in a place like a small town where some people might know each others, but whenever a realtionship like friends and family is made it’s devastating to see that planning fail if the characters don’t work together in the RP. And I’d rather see a better way to form relationship, something more imagnative you know. And I’d rather see people who form relationship beforehand to just make a couple because then it takes all the fun out of the RP where you already know everybody.

I mean I don’t like forming relationships beforehand because I have to actually like reach out and talk  to people I’m not already familiar with lmaoo and that can be nerve-wracking for me personally (am getting better tho yayy) but I do find it fun when there are pre-planned relationships in the RP. I don’t usually plan romantic ones though—well not for the most part—as I like seeing those happen in RP better. The romantic ones I usually do plan (save for g and lui oops) are more like past relationships or current ones that aren’t really… emotional, I guess.

I get so invested in rps I love the characters more than I like people irl

ME OML  LMAOO

the last prompt for the RP character challenge is... a turn off from the challenge, ngl. don’t get me wrong, im not against anyone writing trans characters, the community would benefit a lot from it, and trans people (like me) would be able to see themselves in characters they did not have to make themselves. the challenge itself is good, it encourages creativity, and i dont think the creator had any bad intentions behind it. but there is a lack of nuance in the challenge, and it feels like we’re being tokenized, or like our identity is a prompt, rather than... you know being seen as real human beings. and i’m scared of the submissions the challenge may get. i have seen one and it’s... disappointing. the fact that the creator listed the character’s biological sex as gender is disrespectful, and the entire bio revolving around being trans... really shows that they cannot conceive a trans person a just a person with a life and story of their own. we’re so much more than our trans identity, and that should be seen in trans characters too. seeing how we, trans people, are being portrayed here leaves a lot to wish for.

First off, I’m so sorry it came off that way. I can tell you that nobody intended it to be like that at all, and yes, Brooke only had good intentions with the prompt as you mentioned. That being said, we recognize that it might’ve fallen short of its original goal, as it should have been mentioned that we are basing it on character not identity.

Second, I want you to know that the entries will be judged based on the strength of the character, not on being trans. On the quality of their character. The contest wasn’t meant to tokenize trans people at all, and its original goal was only to give the community an opportunity to become more used to creating trans characters. It was supposed to be a way to illustrate how trans people are more than their identity.
Also, I get what you mean when you said that listing the character’s biological sex as the character’s gender is disrespectful, and I agree. The challenge does require both the character’s sex and gender to be listed, but putting those two in separate sections, one sex and the other gender, is better as the two terms mean different things.

Third, would you feel comfortable talking to any of the RP staff about any further issues or discomforts you have? Having addressed this, would you be keen to enter this competition yourself?

side note: if you wanted to make a guide on how to create a developed trans character, that wouldn’t be opposed

I want to see more QPRs and “unconventional” or not traditionally romantic relationships in RPs (And no I don’t mean “just” friendships)

What do you mean by that? I searched up QPR 'cause I’ve never heard that term before but does it mean queer platonic relationships? But that seems cool, I could get behind that kind of relationship for sure

i really want to start role playing but idk where to start and the community scares me

omg don’t be scareddd we’re all very nice people promise
And you can start with this thread; you’ll be assigned an rp mentor and they’ll pm you and get you used to this whole community

Maybe seems a little intimidating, but once you get into it, it starts to feel like second nature ^.^

My sincerest apologies. That was me. Which is really awkward, because I have Trans friends, and I treat them like everyone else. I just slipped up.
