“I hope you don’t get much practice K.I.S.S.-ing in real life.” Although she was gently shaking her head, her lips quirked up in a quiet private smile. They were fond memories, and although parts had been uncomfortable at the time, she did relish them and appreciate every second of her training. “No. Fortunately I haven’t been.”

Sadie watched him as he watched the frying chicken. “This is a bit of a comfort food for me.” She leaned back against the counter, intently listening to him. The oil in the pan sizzled, dancing and reaching for Lav. “…My mom used to make it for me when I was nervous before a big event or if I failed something. It was the only food I could eat when nervous because nausea would make anything else feel like I’m eating rocks….” Sadie wanted to give little Lav Coltrane a hug, maybe tell him mistakes didn’t define your whole life. There was nothing worst than an anxious heartbroken kid. “But yeah, this is called Cordon Bleu. Apparently it was the staple of a very famous culinary school, or it was made there, so it was named after the school itself.” But just like that he had his random fact to distract from his feelings. So much for not liking history. Now, it was his time to catch her staring.

“Let’s steam those veggies.” Still a little lost in thought, Sadie only nodded. She grabbed the whole cutting board, coming over to the stove. After putting them on the stove she turned to him, feeling guilty. “You aren’t making this because I’m making you nervous, are you?” She asked, looking up at him. Gosh, the way she’s been stepping over boundaries asking for classes, asking him to come help her unpack her house, and then also cornering him into having dinner at her place? Yeah… way to go Sadie.
