Honestly, people need to leave politics out of this and stop making everything about race. You know…bitch about interracial marriages & relationships, one skin colour helping the other person.

There’s a thing called being a decent human being, not an ally.

Well, it’s kind of hard to not see race or not involve race in some issues when many things are heavily influenced or structured from race. Like the Criminal Justice System. The bias they have towards POC commited or accused of crimes compared to whites. Allies or “decent human beings” would acknowledge this instead of downplay it and shrug it off.

Yeah that makes a lot more sense to me now, haha! I do wish creators in the media were more aware of this trope, though. While it isn’t necessarily a huge issue on Episode, I can name many, many films off the top of my head:

  • Avatar (the Naavi are very clearly coded to be like Native American tribes)
  • The Last Samurai
  • The Last of the Mohicans
  • Iron Fist
  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (the white saviour trope isn’t the only issue here. I mean, people who follow Kaali in India are vegetarians. They don’t eat humans or monkey brains)

I take back the Hunchback. I forgot Quasimodo was actually a Gypsy. He’s just coincidentally white-passing

I’m glad, as for those movies, I haven’t ever seen a single one of them :woman_shrugging: :joy:

At first I thought you meant Avatar the show. :sob: But yeah, I agree it does.

Live action, I believe

Ah, okay.

You’re lucky, you’ve missed the super popular iterations of the trope. That’s not even including all the one-off episodes of fantasy cartoons, TV shows and general TV that show the trope in its full majesty >.<

You’re right, people would always bring racism into every argument these days.

as always…

It’s really sad. There are probably so many stories that challenge this trope. They just don’t get publishing deals or Hollywood contracts – even though us terrible SJWs would eat that fish up

Yes they do and it’s annoying sometimes because it doesn’t at all. Black people especially do this anytime we show white people dances and like–They’re just spreading the culture. Jeezuz.

We do eat that up, tbh. Godzilla is technically a Japanese character saving America (When America’s prized military proves entirely useless). At least the more recent Godzilla film xD

And it was ridiculously successful. (I haven’t seen King of Monsters yet, it’s apparently bad)
