“There are cities that exist only in dreams. Streets with forgotten memories, shadows that move when no one is watching. You have seen it, haven’t you? A flicker in the mirror… A name whispered in a voice not your own… The feeling that something - someone - has been watching you, waiting for you.”
A letter arrives, though you do not recall seeing a messenger. The wax seal bears an unfamiliar sigil - a gilded eye, half lidded. The parchment is aged, edges curled and the ink glistens.
You unfold it.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐚 has chosen you.
You have been seen. You have been weighed, measured, and found worthy, or perhaps, merely interesting enough. The doors of Eidolon stand open to you now but be warned: once you enter, you will never walk the world the same way again.
This is not a mere summons. This is an invitation to the game.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝.What is at stake? That is for you to uncover. Some seek power, others truth. Some simply wish to survive. But you are not the first to be chosen. Some have played before. Some have won. Some have lost…or worse.

Choose wisely, Seeker.

The ink burns against your fingertips, the letters shifting as if alive. The moment you look away, the parchment vanishes into smoke. The choice is no longer yours. You have already stepped forward.
Tonight, the veil thins. The doors will open. And only those who are chosen may step through.

Greetings, fellow magic seeker! We’re thrilled to invite you into The Grand Arcana, an advanced roleplay set in the city of Eidolon.
Eidolon is a hidden, ever-shifting city hidden between reality and dream, where time moves strangely, and nothing is quite as it seems. Conceived by ancient magic and maintained by mysterious figures known only as The Keepers, Eidolon is a place of gothic architecture, magical alleyways and secret passageways. At first Eidolon feels like a dream. The streets are alive with music, warm lantern light and the scent of sweets from vendors in the town square. The city welcomes its new players with open arms, its people seemingly kind and eager to celebrate their arrival. But this illusion won’t last.
KEY LOCATIONS OF THE CITY
- The Hollow Lantern Inn – The main resting place for the players, cozy yet unsettling.
- The Main Square – Filled with vendors, musicians and performers. At first it feels joyful but as the game progresses, the cheeriness starts feeling… staged.
- The Observatory – A tower at the city’s highest point. Legends say it can show glimpses of the past, but at a cost.
- The Mirror Library – A grand library where the books whisper and reflections in the glass move on their own.
- The Greenhouse of Illusions – A botanical wonderland filled with luminescent plants, some of which cause visions or distort reality.
- The Forgotten Alleyways – Paths that twist in impossible directions. Sometimes players enter one street and come out somewhere entirely different.
- The Shadow Court – A hidden, ancient theater where past players of the game once gathered. Their spirits may still linger.
- The Clockwork Cathedral – A mechanical church where time seems to reset itself. Some say it holds a loophole in the game.
- The Bridge of Echoes – A stone bridge where voices of past players can be heard when the wind is right.
- The Underground Ruins – A decayed part of the city buried beneath the surface. Something down there is still waiting.
Once the trials begin, the city reveals its true nature. Shadows stretch where they shouldn’t, whispers creep from empty alleyways and participants begin to realize that they are not only playing the game, they are being watched.
The Grand Arcana is a once-in-a-generation magical event that invites… or traps, its players in a game. Whether you’re here for power, redemption, or merely survival, each participant faces a series of trials that test your heart, loyalty and very destiny. Rumor has it that the winner may even rewrite fate itself.
Each participant has been specifically chosen for a reason, though they may not know it yet.
CHARACTER ARCHETYPES AND ROLES
You can choose to create the invited player or the outsider.
Your character should have a backstory that intertwines with the magical legacy of Eidolon, personal motivations for entering the game, and perhaps even a secret you’re not ready to reveal.
Some examples of what you could work with:
The Unwilling Player:
“I never asked for this.”
Characters who find themselves trapped in the game unexpectedly, fighting simply to survive rather than win.
The Cursed One:
“I can never leave.”
Former players who have been ensnared in Eidolon’s magic, often bearing the scars of endless cycles.
The Reluctant Heir:
“Born into a legacy I can’t escape.”
Individuals forced into the game by bloodline.
You will also notice STATUS section when you open FCs (like my Amelie has: A healers hand). I will help you out with this one when you signup. Based on your character’s background there will be something that will fit them. Of course, if there is something you really want just let me know!!
RULES - please read everything carefully
- Reservations first! Before signing up, please reserve your character slot. Each player is allowed to create up to 2 characters - this cannot be changed once the roleplay begins. The characters we start with are the ones that will shape the story.
- This is an advanced, story driven roleplay. We are not rushing through this. While there’s no strict word count, posts should be detailed, immersive, and contribute to the story - one-liners and short, rushed responses won’t fit the tone of Eidolon.
- The Game is selective. Every character has been chosen for a reason, whether they realize it or not. Think about your characters - do they have some internal conflict? What’s their purpose? This isn’t just about surviving the game it’s about why they were chosen in the first place.
- Expect surprises. Some elements of this roleplay will be guided in an SG style, meaning certain plot twists, events, or character developments will be revealed through the RP itself.
- Immerse yourself. Have fun, plan with other users, feel free to cause drama, build tension and let your character’s choices have real weight in the story.
- NOT A RULE BUT IMPORTANT - I’m starting my big girl, full time job in April and I won’t have a lot of free time, for that reasons I’m making this rp more advanced so I could more easily follow the story you all are creating and could help when the help is needed. This also means we won’t be starting this RP right away, I want to give it some time - give you some time to really think about your characters and their story and give some time to myself to adjust to my new routine. So I think this RP could potentially start - IN MAY :D
