Megan Thee Stallion denied liking a YouTube comment stating she exceeded Cardi B- Megan said it was her management that runs her YT channel, not her + said she didn’t need to tear down other female artists
Bryson Tiller sang “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” to Tory Lanez on instagram live - Brendon Urie responded too
Tierra Whack made a quarantine song called “Stuck” that sounds like a 2000s pop rock parody
Snoop Dogg decided to take a dig at Ari Lennox for wearing a wig even though it Ari was making a joke video and wears her hair natural all the time she also defended Snoop Dogg a while ago oof
Apparently, all of these projects will be released TODAY at midnight
So basically hip hop/rap and r&b is all I listen to ever
So I really like this thread!!!
First of all,
I don’t like many female rappers tbh just can’t vibe
I just don’t like their music at all lol
The way lizzo acts annoys me like when she wore a thong to a basketball game where a bunch of kids were
I can’t vibe with any of their songs and they get way over played on the radio so it’s just annoying to hear
Also every girl goes CRAZY when truth hurts plays like chill
Though will give it Doja cats music has a lot of tik tok dances so
I can’t believe I missed this comment
I can’t imagine someone who thinks Uzi Verts album is good, would also listen to someone like J cole. I just don’t think you could go both ways.
Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” TikTok challenge is taking the interenet by storm! So many celebrities have taken part including - Justin and Hailey Bieber, Marsai Martin, Mariah Carey, Naomi Campbell, Jessica Alba and more!
Bh@d Bh@bie (cash me outside girl) is in a blackfishing scandal. I’d post a video if you haven’t caught up but this is ongoing so they’re now a tiny bit out of date so if you want more info search up her name and blackfishing and you’ll find everything. I’d recommend the videos by As Told By Kenya (she explains blackfishing in general and offers a detailed breakdown of it) and D’ Angelo Wallace (he offers a balanced analysis and also explains how cultural appropriation is linked to blackfishing)
The Barbz tried to cancel Doja Cat It was either due to a). a possibly fake tweet of Doja talking about Nicki from 2012 b). Doja getting annoyed at certain Barbz - long story short, I’m personally not really taking Doja’s “cancellation” seriously. What she “did” wasn’t even that deep, she’s a very unbothered person so she won’t really care either plus the Barbz are already known as one of the messiest fanbases
Heads up! A list of things I’m never/not currently interested in making unpopular opinion posts on:
Bh@d Bh@bie - I’ll add her to update posts now and then (however I’m even starting to contemplate this as well) but I’m not giving her attention. She profits off of acting like a caricature of black women for clicks. The Billie Eilish UO was valid because what she said sparked an actual discussion but this girl uses black outrage as a marketing tool. She’s not worth a spot on here. Next!
Azealia Banks ruining her career - This isn’t an unpopular opinion! We already know this! I don’t really want to long on the idea of AB fixing her career because what’s happened, happened. I could name drop her on a possible UO about separating art from the artist though.
UOs about stereotypes such as being too materialistic, romanticising drugs, promoting gangs etc. - “Does rap promote gangs?” “Is rap just about bragging about wealth?” No! This is like asking “Is metal satanic?” These stereotypes have been debunked countless times and aren’t worth a discussion.
Lil’ Kim’s plastic surgery - Kim was physically and mentally abused by colourist partners and colourist men within the industry. I don’t want to turn her trauma and abuse into “tea” or a fancy discussion.
Lil’ Kim VS Nicki Minaj/Nicki VS Cardi and/or any other outdated female rap beefs - Firstly, these beefs are old so I don’t know what fresh takes could possibly be taken from them. Secondly, the industry has profited on making female rappers beef with each other. A LOT of these beefs were manufactured and I feel like I’m doing a disservice to the idea of “female rap unity” by bringing them up. There is a crabs-in-a-bucket mentality promoted to women in rap where they have to “steal the throne” of whoever’s at the top. This happened to Kim, then it was Nicki, now there’s something being crafted between Cardi and Megan and it’s exhausting. I don’t want to feed into this.
