Sera asked him something which made him think. Well, leaving me here with a stain isn’t that bad. It’s worse if she leaves him trapped in a bathroom with only his underwear, but he doesn’t mind staying here for a little while if it means he won’t have to get out of his pants either in a bathroom or in here where anybody could walk in while his clothes are still washing or drying which is a long process and a room people will no doubt walk into multiple times in the span of the time it takes to wash and dry the pants. Plus, he could do a bit of washing while he’s here whereas otherwise he’d be doing nothing right now.
“Oh you go ahead.” He said as she took a lightened load of folded towels into her arms. Looks like she learned something from today, hopefully she’ll use what she just learned in her whole life, because taking too much work on and then paying for it, and then doing it again in a loop makes a miserable life. “I’ll stay behind and wash the towels that were stained by my coffee” As he was saying this he looked through the tags of each towel so he can know which temperature they should be washed at, so none if ruined. “I can’t wait to hear the method, lord knows I’ll use it often.” He took a pause but before she left he remembered to ask. “Hey, Sera, since you’re a woman, you’d know how to deal with blood stains, right?” He asked. If there ever was blood on his uniform or clothes he’d always ask the maids to wash it off for him because for some reason he could never wash blood stained clothes right. He still hasn’t learned that in order to get a blood stain out you first need to rinse it in cold water and then attempt to wash it. “Well if you know the trick for that, could you tell me about it when you come back? I need it for my proffession and it never felt right asking just anybody.” He said a lot to her already and kept her from going, so the next thing he wanted to say was that he would dab the stained pant leg with water in order for the stain to not set before she comes back.
Edith hadn’t considered that her supervisor would be the one judging Elena. Now she saw no point in what she said earlier. “Well, whoever it is, you’re strong for persisting.” she replied. A generic response usually worked.
“It is, precisely. My only options are either a man from my caste or higher.” she explained. Though, she never had much interest in marriage. She only agreed to go through with it to uphold her status. It didn’t make a difference to her, as she was willing to make sacrifices to come across as perfect. “It was a huge honor to be selected, so I hope I won’t let the royal family down. I’ve always dreamed of the day I would get this kind of opportunity.” she said. The last part wasn’t a lie. But she didn’t look forward to it because of the prince, rather because of the opportunities the marriage would grant her.
Hearing Elena lecture her, Edith couldn’t help but wonder why she was warning her. Was there some incident in the past that made her believe so? Either way, she felt more at ease hearing how the palace is relatively safe. If there ever was some incident, it likely wouldn’t repeat. “I appreciate your concern. It’s a shame that even the guards can’t be trusted.” she said. “And I might be young, but I am cautious, I can assure you.” She felt a bit insulted at being called innocent and ignorant. Even if she had very little experience, especially as a sheltered rich child, she considered herself to be very observant and calculating. She wouldn’t let anyone take advantage of her.

She didn’t want to ask for help if it wasn’t necessary. Even if it was, she would rather not. “No. I don’t need directions.” There can only be so many wrong directions she could take, and Marta had the advantage of having gotten lost by herself. She’d prefer to find her way again of her own volition too. She would end up where she needed to be. Eventually. Maybe, if she was a maid for one of the others selected, Juniper would be headed in the direction of the rooms anyway. Then she could follow her until she was comfortable with where she was, and no one would be any the wiser. It felt more like she was being logical, rather than helped, despite that being led somewhere is far more assistance than receiving directions. Following her straight into somebody else’s room wouldn’t be preferable, however. And there would be the gamble of whether that was where she was even headed next, it would be embarrassing if she were to confidently follow her right into somewhere else she wasn’t supposed to be. “Are you going to your girls room next? Edith, you said?” She didn’t ask if she could follow, hoping the question was implied and she wouldn’t have to immediately admit to her lie of not needing directions.
“I’m glad you’re a maid, too.” By itself, the statement seemed odd. Insensitive, even. What she had meant was that she felt a kind of solidarity with other people from lower castes, it was a familiarity that she appreciated. It made the current situation feel marginally more normal, it grounded her.
“Being here isn’t real. It doesn’t feel real.” Marta was used to being practical. The last few days, she had been less than that. She had felt as distant from herself as she could possibly be. As though she were only a visitor in her own skin, not the supposedly permanent resident. Talking like normal, with other normal people, as stilted as she usually was with those she was unfamiliar with, made her feel as though maybe she was still herself; Maybe, even if the situation was different from anything she could ever be used to, she could rely on herself to stay the same. The thought comforted her. “It is, though,” she contradicted herself, “I’ll have to get used to it.”

sorry, got really in my head about this. I’ve decided to just stop thinking and post
Dariana would have offered to pay for all expenses her family might have, introduce her elder brother to Leah and hopefully they fall in love and Leah is bumped to Caste 3 but she had a feeling Leah would not appreciate that sentiment so she simply gave her a small smile when she said her future was probably better than her’s. “And you probably have a really great chance of melting the prince’s heart.” Dariana teased like she was teasing a long lost friend, “After all how could prince charming not fall for princess charming?” More like cinderella who the prince fell in love first sight. Leah reminded Dariana of that but in a different way. Leah was cinderella brought in a different more powerful life. A life force just better in a way she could not truly describe.
“You have a brilliant personality, and if the prince is smart and not someone who thinks with his genitals then surely you will be picked.” Even if the prince thought with his dck, he would be pretty stupid and have an @ss for a brain to not recognize the beauty that is Leah and send her away for having a poverty that is similar to the one his mother had. “And you being in lower class might be a disadvantage but you can also make it something to work in your favor.” Ever since Dariana was born she knew this, your disadvantages can be your advantages and the same was true reverse. Leah’s growing up in poverty could be an advantage to her in a way that she could show the prince her ‘mother ship’ her provider skills, how she is truly fit to take care of a kingdom because she had taken care of people she didn’t have the choice to take care of before. She could show bring the humility a queen needs to possess and even though some people of the public might dislike her, a lot could like her because she would remind them of the the prince mother and of themselves as a lot do not live in a castle filled with richness and instead in a lower class. She could inspire them, and her life skills she learnt because of her unfortunate condition could be developed and become an advantage. “Don’t try and limit yourself because you have a disadvantage, you’ve done so many things to get you to where you are now so why let it become a stop sign to you? Besides the prince must have done background checks, he would not send you away because of that.” And if he does then Dariana would want to be packing her bags and leave because she could not marry a hypocritical prince but she would not leave because she still had her sister. Dariana giggled at Leah’s next words, “Most men say i’m intense or i’m insane because of my dedication to the studies.” And my protection of my mother, “I’m also not humble enough to be a queen.” But she could try.
Dariana smiled when Leah said she’s 18, “Oh you’re a year younger than me and my sister, here.” Dariana said handing her the medication, “You will be as good as a bouncing healthy baby.”

As Sera turned to leave, she heard Enzo offer to wash the towels. She wanted to stop him and insist on doing it on her own, but she knew she was running low on time. Because Sera offered to help, not only would she have to take a trip to the selected’s rooms, but also a trip to the kitchen to get dishsoap and a rag. It was inconvenient for her, but she couldn’t just leave the man, the stain was partially her fault. As much as it pained her to let someone else do the work for her, she could only give Enzo a smile. She nodded as a sign of gratitude.
But before she left, it seemed Enzo had another question for her. She sighed, turning back around to face him. “I do know how to wash blood stains, yes. But not because I’m a woman.” she deadpanned. At that time, she didn’t realize the implications of what she just said, she could only think of finishing her job.
Sera left.
After finishing what she set out to do, Sera came back to the laundry room as promised. In her hand, she held a bottle of dishsoap and a rag in the other. “The method is quite simple,” she began explaining. “You only need dishsoap, most of the time. Mixing it with vinegar would also help.” Sera took the rag, applying dishsoap on it. She then started cleaning the stain on her apron, hoping Enzo could follow what she’s doing.

Sorry for taking so long I have a lot of exams coming up
“Gotcha!” she replied. Actually, it was probably for the best that she refused. Juniper wasn’t really to be trusted. She might have a good sense of direction, but there was no guarantee she wouldn’t get distracted and try to take her somewhere else.
She paused to think how to answer. Juniper hadn’t decided where to go, exactly. She thought that Sera, the other maid, would be the one to finish work with Edith, so there was no need to go back. She would most likely head back to her own room, but it was too early to go to sleep now. “I don’t know, I don’t have any more work to do. I guess I’ll go where the night takes me. Or something.” she laughed. “I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep, to be honest. It’s weird, I should be exhausted after today!”
Hearing Marta say she was glad Juniper is a maid, was kind of odd. She’d never heard anyone say that before. Not even her own family. “Oh wow, why?” she asked without thinking. “I mean, no, I get it completely. Higher castes are so intimidating!” she added immediately after, realizing what she meant.
Juniper nodded. She could understand how Marta felt. Moving from a small home to a grand palace, away from her family, in a way their situations weren’t so different. Only, one of them was to marry a prince and the other was merely a servant.

Elene let out a contemptuous chuckle. It wasn’t directed at Edith, per se, so she gave her a quick, apologetic look. “Sorry, but I can tell you with one hand how many people will support me in this position, and I’ll smuggle you in,” she explains. “And make no mistake about it, it’s not perseverance. When you come from a place you never want to go back to, anything is better than that,” she adds.
Elena let out a sigh. “I still can’t decide if you’re lucky or unlucky,” she says honestly. “You have an opportunity to move yourself up the ladder, but only by doing this,” she explains. “I’m not jealous of the whole selection, but it’s sad that only a few girls get that chance and it’s purely and only this way” she explains.
She then jumped down the stage and smirked “look at you being all confident” she commented, realising that her last comment was taken with offence. “Tho I’m not saying you’re naive or anything, I mean that its good that you never seen what people are really capable of” she explained and walked towards Edith. With a confident smirk, she leaned closer, her hands on the arm rests of the chair Edith was with. “I’m sure that as an actress, you know what to look at when it comes to faking an action” she said and stroked Edith’s underside if her chin with one finger, slightly lifting Edith’s head as she towered over Edith. As she kept her eyes fixated on Edith’s eyes, a trick she learned that forces the other person to also keep eye contact. “But I wonder if you know what to do from there” she whispered with a smirk before she swiftly pulled her old dagger and pressed it against her throat. It was so dull that it wouldn’t even cut through bread, but for an innocent girl as Edith, it should be enough to draw out the response Elena was looking for.

Enzo started sepparating colored clothes and the clothes that washed at different temperatures while also paying attention to what Sera has to say. When she said she knew how to was blood stains, but not because she’s a woman, he said “Yes, sorry about that.” Knowing he heard it somewhere and it was misogynistic to assume just because women bleed every month they should automatically know how to clean blood, when he, a millitary guy who bled multiple times in his life doesn’t. He actually felt ashamed of it, but he was too afraid to ask how to clean it and instead he just let the maids do it. In truth he would rather do it himself when he has a chance, but he never tought to ask how to do it.
By the time the towels were all washing for a while she came back. Enzo turned around and smiled, realizing it’s her and not somebody else. It was a ghost of a smile, only lasting a second or less, but it was only interrupted because he caught himself and he didn’t want her to know he liked her more than anybody else in the castle. When she started demonstrating how to clean his stain by doing the same on her coffee stained apron, he said “Thank you, Sera.” and he followed along with her. When the stains were both wet it was impossible to know if it has gone, so now they both have to wait to see if they need to apply more of the dishsoap and vinegar mixture to the stain or if the method works at all, so until then Enzo thought he should be silent for a little while, and that would be a very long and uncomfortable silence, so thankfully, after a few seconds Enzo was uncofortable enough to start a conversation. “Does the same work for blood then? I remeber when I tried to wash one of my old pieces of clothing that had a large blood stain and I just put it in the washer and the stain didn’t go out. I mean the cloth was 100% cotton and white so in order to clean cotton you have to put it in higher temperature, but for some reason, it didn’t really go away.” He said, wondering what he did wrong back then.

Edith found it hard to relate to Elena’s situation, throughout her entire life she’s had nothing but support. "I’m sorry you have to go through that. she sighed. “Then, the only thing you can do is succeed. Become better than those who judge you.”
“Lucky.” Edith replied without hesitation. “It doesn’t matter how we get to our goal, it’s still an opportunity I’d never miss.” And it was true, she didn’t care what she had to do. She’s had to power through a lot of uncomfortable things in her life, regardless of what she thought. This was no different.
As Elena came closer, leaning on the armrests, Edith backed away in her chair a bit. It was completely unexpected, so naturally, Edith immediately got to thinking what she could do. As she raised her chin, keeping eye contact, Edith’s smile slowly started to fade. She’d been smiling the entire night, all so she could leave the best impression. When Elena finished her sentence, Edith’s eyes widened, feeling the dagger against her throat. She moved her head as far back as she possibly could, but slowly, attempting to move as little as possible. Her eyes scanned Elena, watching her moves closely.
Although her hands were shaking, she clenched her fists, regaining a calm expression. No matter how anxious she was, she couldn’t react impulsively. A small mistake could cost Edith her live. She stayed silent for a few seconds, thinking over the situation. Faking an action, she said… She wasn’t sure what exactly she was referring to. Was she pretending the entire time, or was this all a test?
She looked back into Elena’s eyes, placing a hand on the arm holding the dagger. “Seriously?” she glared coldly, although she felt like her heart was about to jump out. “I see I’m not the only one who can act here.”

Sera was confused about why Enzo was apologizing. She only smiled and left. But by the time she realized, she had already left the room. She told him she knew how to wash blood stains, but not because she was a woman, without thinking about what reason he’d assume it was. In the best case scenario, he’d think it’s her experience as a maid. Worst case, she’s secretly a serial killer. “Oh no… As soon as I return, I need to explain this to him!” she said to herself, worrying it came off in the worst way possible.
As Sera taught him how to clean the stain, her mind went back to what she said earlier. She was glad he wasn’t bringing anything up, she most likely jumped to conclusions. “You’re welcome.” she smiled. But when she heard his next question, she panicked a bit. “Right, cleaning blood stains! But before I start, I promise I’ve never killed anyone.” she blurted out. Attempting to hide her awkwardness, she went back to explaining. “Uh, I mean, hydrogen peroxide. You need to soak the stain in cold water as soon as possible and apply hydrogen peroxide.” she explained. Sera looked back at her apron, attempting to take her mind off. It had dried a bit and the stain was nearly gone, she could finally rest soon. She took the rag again, applying more dishsoap and sitting in silence.

Enzo was minding his business and listening to the young girl as she attempted to teach him how to clean minor spots and blood stains, but he couldn’t keep minding his business. As soon as she got nervous and said she hasn’t killed anybody, even though he didn’t ask, he hoped it was a joke that just got terribly executed. She didn’t show signs of joking, she didn’t laugh, not even nervously … She said it so matter of factly and nervously, as if somebody asked her about it and she responded. And this reaction to her own statement made him wonder if she just acidentally confessed to something, being too anxious in front of a guard to stay silent, even if she wanted to, and blurted something like that out. Of course, it could still be a joke, but Enzo still needs to investigate, no matter how much more he likes her than any person he’s met until now, he needs to know if the royal family, where his loyalties lie, is in danger from a murderer. “No, of course not.” He pretended to not be thinking about it and pretended not to take notice of what she said, hoping she thought he either didn’t hear it or passed it off as a joke. He would usually pass it off as a joke, but his job won’t allow him to not investigate. “Cold … water?! That’s what I did wrong! I used to just put it in the washer at a high temperature, I didn’t know you had to rinse it off in cold water first.” He said. “Would it work without Hydrogen Peroxide? Like just rinsing it with cold water, waiting for it to dry and putting it in the wash like regular?” He asked, trying to simplyfy the task, or find a better way to do it, withouth damaging the hint she just gave him.
Maid of Rosemary Edith Dolloway
Sera sighed in relief, hearing Enzo deny that he thought she was a murderer. She would’ve hated to leave such an impression, especially since it could cost her her job, or worse, get her thrown in jail. Sera could never allow herself to be sent back home, so she was always a little too cautious about what she says and does. Now that she was calmer, she continued doing her work as usual.
“Ah, hot water… Heat would make the stain set, so it might be impossible to clean it then.” she explained. Sera wished she had someone to teach this to her, but she had to learm everything either through trial and error, or by watching others work. She never wanted to rely on people to help her, making her job harder to do. And still, she continued denying help from others. “It depends on the stain, but I recommend trying to wash it normally before using hydrogen peroxide.”
“And, also, if it’s a bigger stain or if it stayed for too long, you might not be able to wash it. For every stain, it’s better to wash it straight away.” she added.

While Sera was occupied with confirming what he asked and then continuing to talk about the propper cleaning techniques, Enzo was half listening to her and half thinking about her name so he can do a background search later on. Chances are she did what she told him, but he won’t be able to find any evidence or any murer he can tie to her, so he’ll just have to drop it, but if there’s something he can find, he will dip his toe in to see if she there’s something on the surface he can catch.
After she finished talking about the stains he said “Thank you, Sera.” He pretended to think about her name and he said “Hmm … Sera? I remeber reading that name on the list, what was the last name? Millhouse?” Enzo tried to get her last name to do a check.

“I hope I explained it well, I’ve had to do this quite a few times…” she sighed. “If you don’t have any more questions, I will retire to my room.” Sera couldn’t wait to go to sleep. As much as she valued duty, it was too much work that day, even for her. But she had to admit, she had fun talking to someone for once. It was way out of her comfort zone, and yet, it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be.
“Milbourne.” she replied. “But I don’t really like my last name, to be honest. I prefer just Sera.” If she were to be honest, she’d prefer entirely cutting contact from her family. But sadly, it wasn’t possible in her situation.

it was clear that Camila took credit in Alviva’s compliment. it gave Alviva a warm feeling to see someone who cares so much about her family. “I can see how much you care about your family, even though you say your siblings drive you crazy,” she remarks. I’m jealous…
the question of what her siblings do was one that Alviva doesn’t like answering. indirectly it always reflected on how much her siblings have accomplished and how little she herself has done. “Most of them work in a line with the royal family, either with the military or university they don’t usually get in contact” I explained briefly.
Alviva liked to hear how Camila had a regular way of meeting. it was something she longed for herself, but also made her a little jealous. “I used to read books about friends hanging out like this. I’ve always wanted something like this and sometimes wondered if this was really a way friends did things, it’s so cool!” she says enthusiastically.
Alviva shrugged at the question about the prince. “I mean, they wouldn’t have all caste participate in the selection if they didn’t. If they wanted the prince to marry a high caste, they would have,” she notes.
Then she started to chuckle. “there’s a difference between cutely clumsy and being as clumsy as a goose in a ballgown trying to balance glass goblets on its head” she laughed.

Elena never broke eye contact with Edith for a second. Elena was relaxed because she knew what was going on, but Edith was clearly anxious. Still, this response was enough for now.
with a sigh, Elena drew back the dagger and crouched down in front of Edith. “Sorry about that,” she says sincerely. “I know it’s a shitty move, but…As the only female guard, it will be my job to protect you when I can’t call in reinforcements for your privacy. It will be times when you are vulnerable and it’ll be inappropriate if another guard watches over you” she explains. “to ensure that I can protect you as best as possible, I need to know what your natural reaction to danger is. I can assume that you will remain tactical, but will enter a freeze reaction. With this I know that I can ask you to a certain point to cooperate with me unlike if you’d have paniced” She continued explaining.
Elena knew her actions would raise questions and she might get into trouble for it, but she was determined to do her job well, but she could only do it her way.
Then she slowly retrieved the dagger and handed it to Edith. “It’s a dull dagger I used years ago. There was never a moment when you were in danger, I can guarantee that.” she promises.

Go ahead and get back to your room.” Enzo said, hoping he encouraged her to go so he could be left to researching her. “I have no more questions for you.” At least he has no questions to directly ask her. “Don’t let me bother you any more.” Enzo wasn’t used to saying this often, but that’s because he often did things himself rather than trust others with things to be done, just like Sera suggested before, but here he felt he needed to say it. “Thank you for helping me, Sera Millbourne … In future to be reffered only as Sera.” He said with a smile, knowing she’ll like that he will call her last name this time and not again since she doesn’t like it*.
New Day
Day 1 of the Selection
While the previous day was momentous for the girls, it was nothing compared to what was to come next. Eventually everyone in the palace went to their respective living quarters to end the night in preparation for the morning when the Selection would officially begin.
10AM - Breakfast - Dining Room
To begin the day, each girl’s maids helped get her ready. Hair done, adorned in brand new hand made dresses, and any accessories the girl desired, each was recommended to dress in a way that expressed themselves, whether it be a simple day dress, or an elegant evening gown fit for a queen.
Once ready, the girls were brought to the grand dining hall. That’s where they found four tables set for breakfast. The first three were parallel to each other, with 6 chairs along either side of each. The fourth table however was perpendicular to the others, with chairs to only one side, facing the other tables. That table was where the queen sat, with princess Rosalie to her right, and prince Kit to her left, and any moment prince Beckett himself would enter to greet the girls for the first time.
@/TheSelection
Alright guys, you are free to post for the new day! The girls can sit in any arrangement they choose. There will be an assortment of breakfast type foods available.
I am working on Beckett’s post now, and will then start the first few interactions on the list.
Tentative Order for the girls to meet Beckett
Keep in mind, the girls won’t know this order. This is just so you all as the RPers have an idea when to expect these conversations
Additional Note: Whichever conversation that is at the top of the list, will take priority. So if for example interactions 2 & 4 have both been waiting for a response, but interaction 1 responds. Most likely, unless I have a response partly written (or have extra motivation for a specific response for some reason), I will respond to interaction 1 first.

Jake had been out of the palace yesterday. There had been some issues with different supplies being late, and now they had expected so many guests, it had become even more urgent. He was given the responsibility to get everything back on track and guarantee the well-being as well as the safety of the Selected by at least making sure there was sufficient stock of things such as food and protective materials. It had been a full day of driving and calling around, but in the end he had been fairly successful and managed to arrange most things.
This morning however, he was on an early shift with one of his colleagues, Cohen. “Morning” he said with a yawn, as he was still half asleep as he walked into the staff room “Anything happened here yesterday I should be aware of?” he asked as he closed the last of his buttons on the sleeve of his work vest. Once he was fone with that he took a cup out of the cabinet, ready to make a coffee for himself, before deciding to ask: “Want a cup of coffee as well?”

By the time Sanura returned from her fruity get-together with Thomas, it was already dark, and she was beginning to feel very tired. It may not have been the best choice, but Sanura decided to go to bed early instead of looking for one of the girls. They were here for a while and so there was enough time to get to know everyone.
The next morning she woke up early and decided to walk around the gardens of the palace, or rather around the entire building. She found some good spots to come back to like a pond where she had skipped some stones and even a bit that almost looked like a mini forest.
in between she stole another apple which ended up being her breakfast because the walk around the palace took longer than expected.
finally back at its starting point, the sun was shining brightly. yet there was also a pleasant gentle breeze. Sanura lets out a sigh with a relaxed smile. It was always much nicer for her to be outside than inside, and the air in Angeles smelled very different from home. At home it was dry and sandy, the air here smelled more dewy and fresh. mornings like this were Sanura’s favourites. Sitting inside, rules and having to worry about how dignified she looked, just didn’t look appealing for her.
the suddenly approaching sound of footsteps echoing across the hard empty corridors brought her back to where she was, and curiously she looked over her shoulder to see who it was, not expecting it to be “the prince?” she exclaims in surprise. before she turns completely to him. “Sorry, I didn’t really expect to bump into you…your highness?” she asks, making a hesitant curtsy. Because she had just been sent here, and had never really been involved with the royal family herself, she now didn’t know how to greet him properly. “sorry, I really have no idea what is expected of me” she says honestly and decides to give up any further attempts to avoid awkward forced situations and conversations. she then jumps up and sits down on the stones.
Now that she had the prince in front of her, she might as well get that first conversation over right away. “I’m Sanura by the way” she says casually and holds out her hand with a grin. From the moment she heard she had to do this, she knew she would be 100% herself. And 100% Sanura, was not a formal way of talking.
