The travel thread

Also, lowkey nervous about this trip. I have a night train (very curious?) and some night busses and I know it probably won’t be the comfort I’m used to, but honestly, I wanna experience the authentic life and just live those weeks… I did them quite a bit in South America, but there they are much higher quality than South East Asia (well more so I could easily afford the most luxurious there and I can’t this trip) soooo

I’m stressed a little bit
I might have wasted quite a bit of money
I accidentally selected the wrong date :sob:
(Okay, it’s just like 15 dollar, but still…)

Tomorrow is the day
I’ll be on a super long flight to Bangkok
I’m so excited but also nervous
It’s still terrifying for me such trips
It’s quite a long time and it’s just a lot of things that can go wrong
But also so many hopefully amazing things I’ll experience the next weeks

Well it’s off to an amazing start
My flight was delayed so I missed my connecting flight
All in all it only costs me 3 hours
Plus a whole lot of stress :sob:

Okay, okay, so I’ve had some pretty decent first days
But getting out of Bangkok tomorrow which is bringing me a whole lot of stress because I just can’t seem to figure out a way to actually make my plans work
I wanna sleep in a bit
I wanna see some stuff in Ayutthaya tomorrow before I get on the night train
I don’t wanna have to carry around my backpack while I do that
Preferably I would like a direct as possible route but it just all is so complex and I just can’t figure it out for a decent price
Okay deep breath
I got this
I’ve been in more frustrating situations in the past
It’s mostly money I’m worried about rn cause it’s poof disappearing like it’s nothing
But I might just treat myself to a direct taxi tomorrow cause wellll, time cost effective it’s the best option, and I might just book a hostel in Ayutthaya so I have the option to store my luggage, rent a cheaper bike to see more and possibly have a shower

This thread is turning in a ranting thread specifically for travelling, lol :joy:
But I’m terrified
Tomorrow I’m crossing a land border for the first time outside of Europe, and it’s just terrifying and I heard a lot of scary stories
But I’m sure it will be fine. No matter what it’ll be an experience, that’s for sure

Even after my kind of traumatic experience ending up in hospital on my last trip, I’m currently in the process of planning my next solo trip. This time partially for my thesis in Colombia, but I’ve decided to combine Central America with it, so I’m excited, it’s a handful of countries I’ll be experiencing for the first time!!
Of course there are nerves, as they aren’t the easiest countries to travel especially alone without driver licence and it’s an intense trip to get back into travelling for me. But I know some Spanish, which makes me feel a bit less scared and I’m just excited honestly!
