I raised a brow and was sort of surprised by him not getting upset with what I said. “Well as long as you can own it!” I said back to him with a smile. Confidence was key. When people were shy and timid I hated it. It annoyed me completely. “No kids but a crappy job? Guess you are a quarter of the way there.” I added and looked around at some of the others and looking at the new boats showing up. “Yeah, I’ve never been to Canada so that’s sort of what drew me here.” Another guy joined in on our conversation. Cutie. “Stephen” “Mika. Nice to meet ya.” I looked over at blonde boy and realized I didn’t know his name yet either.

As Mika was introduced to another guy I felt like I often did in school. I would find somebody to talk to every so often, but it wouldn’t take long for somebody else to come around and talk to them, and me feeling if I were to continue talking to her I’d feel awkward. So I never did. I didn’t expect for her to still want to talk to me, but when she awaited for my name I felt a bit more confident than usual. I didn’t know at first she asked for my name, becuase she only asked it with a longer than average silence, but I figured it out soon enough. I smiled and in my german accent I said “Harry.” The pronunciation of my name was with an english accent becuase that’s how my mother used to call me and that’s how everybody else came around to saying my name, but there was a german undertone and my r-s weren’t as mellow and soft as english or american r-s, but rough like in slavic or germanic languages.

“Move over, you’re too close.” Brenda said to her sister as she nudged her arm. Brenda then looked back to her book, trying to distract herself from the boring boat ride. She flipped throgh the paged while thinking about the fact that she had to be on this vacation with her sister. “You know, if you weren’t here I would have more space to stretch my legs out.” She said. Before she could answer, she saw the boat stop at the dock. She got up quickly from her seat, while dragging her bags and accidently hitting Brittany with them and exited the boat. Brenda stood on the deck and looked around the resort “Not that amazing but it will do.” She said.

“Move over, you’re too close.” Brittany heard her sister say. She rolled her eyes. “I’m barely even by you, gosh.” She said. She tried to look out of the window of the boat but there was no use. Of course Brenda had to take the window seat to tease her, knowing that she liked it.

Before she knew it, they were finally at the dock. Brenda knocked her in the face while getting out of the boat but she decided to ignore it. Erick was dozing off in the boat while dreaming about this resort that he was going to. It was his first time going on a “vacation” without his family and he was excited but kind of scared. He got jolted awake when he heard the boat stop on the deck. “finally.” He thought as he grabbed all of his belongings, which wasn’t that much. He stood on the dock with His arms crossed. He had never really been to a resort so the scenery was beautiful to him. He saw people talking and he decided to stay out of the limelight by being at the far back.

I stood on the deck of the boat. Closing my eyes, I just imagined the resort. Big bedrooms, balconies for each room, and a huge pools. As I felt the boat start to slow I opened my eyes, not realizing how long I just had my eyes closed. I saw it. The ‘resort’. IT WAS A DAMN SUMMER CAMP?! “This looks amazing” I said while crossing my arms and looking at the cabins and the dock as if I could intimidate them to go away. It didn’t work. Damn. It wasn’t that I was mad about it being a summer camp, but why did they lie to us! Jesus. Well. Maybe I could complain my way out of it… I could at least try? Eh. I couldn’t do that, they wouldn’t budge. I hopped of the boat and onto the deck that legit looked like it would collapse with one more step. My eyes were wide as I walked to who seemed to be part of the show. He welcomed me and told me to head over to where the other ‘campers’ were. I nodded with my eyes still wide as I carefully took steps closer to land. I got to land as I saw lots of people talking to one another. I just stood there kinda awkwardly and put my arms around each other and rubbed the sides of them as I looked around. I took a deep breath. It would okay. We would be fine. I looked at the ground and slowly kicked my foot on the ground as I started to pick my nails. I could already tell this would be a long couple of weeks.

“Mika…” He said, letting the word settle down on his lips. “Nice name you got there, and nice to meet you too,” he said, nodding towards her. It was only when she looked over at the other boy that he noticed the blonde boy’s existence. There was a small moment of silence before the boy spoke up, saying his name was Harry. Stephen grinned as he said, “Pleasure to meet you too, Harry.”

Cael was very excited to be spending the next while at a five-star resort. He hadn’t been at anything like what had been described to him ever before. While his sister was having her Thailand adventure, he would be having his own in Muskoka! And he’d be staying at a luxury resort. … The smile dropped from his face as she took in the island that was supposed to be where he was staying. “What the F-CK?!” The words exploded from his lips before he realized they were there. He shook his head, his mouth gaping at the horrible island. “Oh, we’ve been f-cking played,” he said to himself, sighing. This’ll be fun! He told himself. You can’t knock something down if you haven’t even given it a chance.
The boat docked and he got off, hands in his pockets. The host introduced him in front of camera—oh, so we’re on television too?—and he flashed a smile for the camera, coupled with a cheesy wink. He waved slightly, “Hey folks… this isn’t what I signed up for, but I still think it’s gonna be a fun couple weeks here. Yeah, okay.” He walked away from the camera and walked away, whistling (pretty poorly—more like blowing air than anything else) as he moved. He laughed loudly, spinning around with his arms outstretched, the sun beating down on his skin. This trip surely wasn’t what he’d expected, but he was sure that even this trip on this God-awful island would be a wonderful experience.

I ran my fingers through my hair, unable to contain my excitement about this resort. I had a seat on a chair that was placed for someone to sit in. Might as well take it. I just watched the waves. Damn. Everyone back home would be so jealous of me. Being on a reality TV show at a resort. I could really talk this up back home. That’s when I saw it. The cabins. THE HELL. I stood up infuriated. “You lied to me!?!?” I yelled. But no one seemed to be around to take my sh*t. I turned around in a circle as I ran my fingers through my hair again. I put my hands on the railing around the boat and leaned on them as I looked at the ground and then back up to the cabins. How could they do this- was this allowed- we arrived at a pathetic little dock where I could only assume was the host. I glared at him as he introduced me. I just rolled my eyes, shook his hand, and walked off. I found a comfortable spot by the shore of the water and folded my legs up and held them up by wrapping my hands around them and holding on my my wrists. I picked up a rock and skipped it. My dad thought me. We could go out to the lake and skip rocks for hours. Me always trying to beat him. Made a slight smile come to my face as I skipped more.

I raised my eyebrows at this Stephen guy. I can’t say I didn’t feel discomfort when he just suddenly joined in like that and introduced himself to her withouth even acknowledging me, but I didn’t say anyting becuase I didn’t know if something like this was considered good or bad in conversations. Maybe it doesn’t matter when it’s me in question becuase talking to me might not be desireble. “You too Stephen.” Knowing that changing the subject usually should help get the conversation start and be more fun, I quickly followed with “So where are you all from?” I felt this needed to be said since they both could tell I’m from Germany with my accent and I thought it unfair and unsettling they both knew where I was from while their country stayed a mystery to me.

It looked kind of strange to her, considering that she was supposed to be on a resort.“What the heck.” She whispered to her sister Brittany that was behind her. “Am i going to be on tv.” She thought. She quickly shook her head because it seemed like a “Too good to be true” thought. A guy was standing beside her and she nudged his arm. “Hey, jawline, what’s going on around here?” She asked him.

Spencer shrugged, “Oh you know the usual, our host lied to use about going to a five-star resort and we’re now on some rundown camp.” Spencer wasn’t too affected by the change in scenery, he didn’t really care where he went. “I don’t see why everyone’s so down about it, I’ve never been a nature freak but those years behind bars… I’d rather be anywhere but there.” He gave a horrified shutter and looked back at her. “What about you? What brings you to a supposed five-star resort?”

Brenda looked at him with a blank stare. huh? She thought. First he told her that they were at a rundown camp, then he alluded to the fact that he went to jail. She cleared her throat. “Do you realize that I almost had a mini heart attack from the things you said.” She explained to him. She took a deep breath and answered his question. “I was supposed to be relaxing but I guess that’s not happening anymore. Even though I probably wouldn’t have relaxed anyways considering the fact that my sister is here.” She said.

DeeDee hopped off the boat. She had been picked up almost two hours ago, since there were some technical problems while riding. Her mother and father were so glad she could have a vacation off! They said, “A vacation for both of us.” They sure were gonna miss her! She looked up and looked around. “What a scam! I’m leaving. Where’s the exit?” She turned around and jumped into the water. The exit has got to be around somewhere!

After riding a boat for what seemed like forever, Mariana was finally here. Her feet stood on the port with the salary sea breeze flaring her nostril. There were more people here than she expected, which also meant there were more people here she had to talk to. The thought of it made her stomach feel some uneasiness, making her frown and put her hand on her stomach. There was a five-star resort that was claimed when she applied for the reality TV show, but she couldn’t spot any from where she was standing. The salty smell started to dwindle as she kept walking further ahead to see the five-star resort. Her head turned from the right to the left and back to the right before she frowned once more at what she saw. There was no five-star resort, only cabins where she assumed she would have to live in for the rest of her stay here.
Mariana noticed a guy spinning around with his arms out in the air. His curly dark hair spun around with him against the breeze. Her friends told her this would be one of the few moments she could make a few friends with people who wouldn’t know her from her town. A sigh escaped from her mouth as she wished life wasn’t so hard on her. Her right hand clasped her left bicep as she walked toward the guy, who was spinning so freely.
“Hi,” she said unsurely, “I’m… Mariana. You are?” Her eyes shifted around from being so nervous. Heat in her cheeks started rising to cause the reddish color from blushing to appear. This “resort” thing is gonna be a long time.

Reaching the sky with his arms to stretch them out, Ken was relieved to be out of the cramped boat and standing on the port to let his joints breathe. He let out a scream of excitement as he rushed over to see the five-star resort he would stay in for the remainder of his time here. The image of cabins that were nowhere being a five-star resort made his jaw drop. He was lied to. His nostrils flared before he shrugged off the realization that he just signed up for a scam. It was no big deal living in a cabin in the wilderness but he couldn’t believe that this is what he had to do instead of the five-star resort he was promised. He turned around to go back to the dock.
When he returned to the port, he noticed a guy with a denim jacket and gray jeans skipping some stoned across the water. He had messy blonde hair and a small grin on his face. Ken walked right over to him as he crouched down to pick up a rock. Ken didn’t have much experience with skipping rocks over the water from his time going on his nature camps with his family. Making fires, building tents, and foraging for berries and other foods were more of his thing. “Can I skip some rocks with you?” he asked him with a smile. In truth, there was no need to ask the guy he never met before for permission to skip rocks but it was a nice opportunity to make some friends in this little sh*thole of a place he had to stay.

Of course it wasn’t how she anticipated, but she knew better to expect much. Getting off her boat the key thing she did was take out her book. Chris, a man who only looks after himself, and would put anyone at harm way for his own amusement. Yep, she did her research on him, and this girl next to Zanna. Appears she wasn’t the only one capable of smuggling a blade. Though ZZ wasn’t intimidated of something like that, especially from someone more fragile than her.
Next person, obnoxious (Stephanie) clearly an attention seeker, maybe more. Jamilla another girl nearby, high spirts, ohhh ZZ would have pleasure making her feel misery. Conversation wasn’t her strong suit so instead she eavesdrop. There wasn’t much drama yet, only tiresome conversations about eye colors and names.
I’m surprise people can remember names from just hearing it once. Besides me of course, perfect memory if you forgot. She thought tapping her temple. F.ck embarrassing myself.
“Get your camera off my face now!” She warned the camera man as he did a u-turn almost hitting a girl. “If you’re going to hit someone make sure you do.” ZZ said staring at this female.
“Sooooo… What make you travel so far to a ‘Five Star resort?’ When you could be spending your time as a model!” Zanna said falling into the trap of stupid, unnecessary, interaction.
