What music do you guys like to listen to while writing?

I personally like to listen to Marvel soundtracks (surprise, surprise). They don’t have lyrics so they don’t really distract me, and they have those awesome superhero vibes that give me inspiration, since I also write superhero novels.

What about you guys?

I can’t really concentrate if I listen to music while writing, but sometimes a particular song pops into my head, so I listen to it and somehow incorporate it into the scene I’m writing.

Anything in my playlist! Depending on the mood of the post/story I’ll find a song of that mood. And if it’s a character I put on a shuffle and wait for inspiration.

All sorts of stuff! Depends on the story, though. Sometimes I have specific playlists for stories that not only fit the storyline/characters, but also encourage me to get writing!

I would listen to Nirvana, but I end up focusing on the lyrics more than writing, so I usually listen to the soundtrack from Stranger Things :grin::new_moon::dizzy::black_heart:

I think it depends on what kind of a scene I want to work on. If it’s something sweet and romantic I’d listen to slower and almost sad songs (The night we met, Always I’ll care, Girl crush…). And If I’m writing literally anything else I’d just listen to music I normally listen to and it’s pretty random. :smile:

At the advice of @fcukforcookies I make a playlist that fits the story I’m writing and listen to that while walking and thinking of ideas. Then I come home and write them down. It was very effective today!

Some songs:

California and French vibes since those are the two places where my story takes place!

I mostly listen to jazz music or piano music while writing. There are some jazz versions of disney songs on youtube that keep me motivated to write while not being too distracting

I listen metal and rock depending on my mood.
I listen to playlists on YouTube
From time to time, I’m writing then hear some part of the instrumental that pleases me and I write down the song’s name to use on a scene later.

I’ve tried listening to soundtracks of movies and some work really well. But only some days, other days I need completely different type of music to write. Yesterday I started writing and wanted to listen too quiet music, but today I wanted something fun and loud! Does anyone else experience this?
