My English teacher wants us to do a five minute presentation on a random topic and to start it in an original way instead of âHello classâŚâ, but she didnât tell us how we should start our presentation instead
So what would be a creative/interesting way to start my presentation?
Maybe start with a question, thatâs what I do all the time
You could also use a quote from a celebrity, but it has to be something interesting
Interesting idea
I donât think that a quote from a celebrity ould work this time because my presentation is about cat world records
It depends on what the topic is about. You should make it related to the topic.
You could say why you chose the topic
But we are supposed to say that at the endâŚ
You could start with an interesting fact about cats.
Thatâs a good idea
You could ask who of your classmates has a cat!
WASSSSSPOPPINNNN BISHESSSS. Jk.
Start with an interesting fact like âDid you know?..â
You can start with an anecdote or a fact about the topic?
I know a few. ginger female cats have a spot of a another colour somewhere on the body, because a female ginger cat (I dont know what they are called in English) cant be complete red
or if a cat 3 mix colour (like its both a grey a brown and ginger) it is female.
most white cats are deaf though often only on one ear. also if a white cat has two colour eyes its almost always deaf on the side with the blue eye
- explain the definition of the topic.
- appreciate the teacher for giving your the opportunity, eventhough you hate it in the first place
- idioms/quotes
I decided that I should post an update about my presentation: I started by asking âwho likes catsâ and then shared a few interesting cat facts and my teacher loved it
I had to sit through a short course about presentations and the guy pretty much said âstart with a bangâ
So I suggest bringing some fireworksâŚ
The school will burn! Donât do it!
Bump!
I hate presentations, I talk way too fast and quiet. My teachers used to wave at me to âturn up the volumeâ lol. It worked for like a second, and then I start to talk quietly again.
I think starting with an anecdote is great. It feels more personal and itâs a bit easier to talk normally and not use a formal presentation voice. Starting with a question is also good to get the audience involved.
Another trick is to do something clumsy in the beginning to lighten up the mood a bit. Weird, but it works. I once got too nervous to start the presentation I was about to do so the classroom went quiet for a solid minute, HAHA. My teacher was like âDo you mind if we take someone in between?â. Next time went better because it really couldnât go any worse.
Just start presenting and donât even greet the class.
