Who plays The Sims? (All Generations)

That sucks! I’m sorry!

Kits cost around 5 dollars with tax, stuff packs cost around 11 dollars with tax, game packs cost around 20 dollars, and lastly, expansion packs cost around 40 dollars. You can play the game on PC or console but PC gets updated the quickest. The way I play the games is that I put them on a portable hard drive which I plug in so that I can play them. It won’t eat up space on your laptop this way unless you take videos, take screenshots, and sometimes but not always document information as well. I have a 2 terabyte portable hard drive that I use. Maybe talk to your mother about going this route instead. Your laptop would be technically clutter free of games this way.

I did consider a portable hard drive…

THEN I CAN PLAY OTOME!

Yep! It’s a better way to play big games or multiple small games.

Kits? I just mean like the CD or whatever.

Kits are a new pack they came up with. It gives new items like hair, clothes, and furniture type items in the game. Most games nowadays do not use CDs anymore. They are downloaded from the server even if you buy the game in a store. It’s only the old games that use cd’s now.

Yeah, I don’t know why I said CD. I meant like…the file?

Damn why did I never think of that

Oh okay! Sorry, I wasn’t sure which one you had meant so I just went with the actual cd term. Well, if you do use a portable hard drive you need to make sure it’s made for gaming. There is a difference between a normal portable hard drive and a gaming portable hard drive. For instance, you can’t put certain files in the gaming portable hard drive since it wasn’t programmed for that. The majority of the file size would go on to the hard drive while the shortcut and small bits will move to your actual computer. I have a handful of games on my actual computer but the rest is in my portable hard drive.

Yeah, I haven’t used this method since the first Sims games came out when my dad set it up for us. I only just remembered to do it this way in 2020 when I got the new laptop. I wish I had remember this before as well.

Right, i get it. Like an iPhone cord. It’s a charging cord, but it only works for iPhones.

Exactly! You can put game file folders on the hard drive but you can’t run programs like photoshop off of it basically. It will just sit in the hard drive but it won’t open. I did a lot of testing to see what it could do when I first got it.

How much do they cost? I think I’ll either ask for some, or get them myself. Where can I get them?

The pricing ranges between 40-200 dollars depending on what type you get. They can be higher or lower on the other companies I listed below. I got mine from Amazon. I’ll link it belowl. It works well for me but the only issue is the cord part on mine doesn’t like to stay connected but that was just probably a fault they didn’t see when testing. It works great anyways. You can look on Newegg.com, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and other tech companies like that.

This is another one I found.

Well, I’m trying to make this decision, and I figured I’d bring it here where everyone interested in The Sims could give me some input.

So, I’m thinking about getting Sims 4. Since right now it’s on sale (for the next few days so I’ve got time to make the choice) at a price I’d be willing to go for.

However, I’m not willing to buy any of the expansions, etc. Does anyone have insight on how worth it just the base game would be?

A lot of things that are in the paid expansions are possible through mods as well and mods are free

Playing the sims 4 with base game only offers quite a lot already. Basically all building tools exist, the fundamental game play is there (like your sims can have a social network, they have their emotions and there are quite a few things you can fill your sims days with, so you are able to create your own storylines for the most part). However, where for me the biggest issue comes with just base game is that it seems really focused on adult lifestage, you do need creativity to not get bored of the gameplay (though they have been trying to work on that), and that there are limited options to both customize your sims and furnish their houses. Mods/CC can fix this to a certain degree, so if you play on a pc and are willing to download additional things for free, I would say go for it. Then it’s definitely worth it to buy for the price it’s on sale for right now. You will get a lot of hours of fun out of it.

Actually I hadn’t played the sims in a few weeks, but I opened it up again today and realize again how freaking addictive it is since I’ve been playing for the last 6 hours or so :joy:
