It seems like it doesn’t make sense, but for some cases it’s true. I have a lot of clothes and I don’t look poor at all, mainly cuz they’re old clothes tho but they’re cute clothes. If you looked at me, you wouldn’t think I’m poor but in reality Im not wealthy enough to afford new electronics or all the luxuries like other people other than the important stuff like groceries or bills 
I can see why people think that though
Edit: some poor people can clean themselves pretty well. There’s cute clothes at super super cheap stores like thrift shops or online stores that sell clothes as cheap as $8 that are SUPER cheap. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Just cuz someone looks well fitted or well kept together doesn’t mean they are
