“I never lied to you.” He insisted, however pointless it was. “She didn’t tell me who she was until afterwards. I wouldn’t have done it if I had known, I swear.”

What child? Rosalie, how many children do I have?

“Yeah, I know you have Rosalie. She’s your daughter, isn’t she?” Then it clicked. He finally understood what he was being accused of. “Oh f-ck. She’s not-” He couldn’t finish the sentence. He ran a hand through his hair, titling his hair back as he listened to Theo spit questions at him. “I never spoke to her again after that night. I wanted to forget it ever happened. I didn’t know she was pregnant, she didn’t tell me. I would never want to ruin your life, Theo, and I’m not going to take her away from you.” He reassured him.

I won’t fcuking be surprised if you’re the one who killed her mother.

Dom froze as Theo’s words set in. He couldn’t believe that his cousin thought him capable of such a thing. “Do you really think I’d do something like that?” He asked him, looking him in the eyes and keeping his voice at it’s normal volume, but articulating to make sure his point got across.

“I never lied to you. She didn’t tell me who she was until afterwards. I wouldn’t have done it if I had known, I swear.”
Did Theo believe him? He didn’t know anymore. He wanted to, he really did, his family was one of the most important things to him ever, cousins included. It just… it was too hard. It hurt.

To be fair, it wasn’t all on Dominic, but there was nothing much he could to with her blame now that she was dead. Theodore loved her, honestly, probably more than he has ever loved anyone, even more than mareena, and he really bloody loved mareena. It was different, it was hard, but they made the effort to make it work even with the distance. Or so he thought… all that, and nothing. She cheated on him like nothing. Not just with anyone, but with his own cousin.

And then he kept on talking, and by the way he spoke, it seemed genuine. But if there’s anything Theo had learned even more that day, it was thy some people are bloody good liars.
“Oh f-ck. She’s not-”
”She’s not…” he whispered, his voice partly breaking as he admitted it once again.

”I would never want to ruin your life, Theo, and I’m not going to take her away from you."
“Do you really think I’d do something like that?”
Theo remained silent as he stood there. He couldn’t look him in the eyes anymore it was all too much, did he believe him? Did he not? What now? She wasn’t his kid. Mentally, yes. Has Dom ever fed her or taken care of her? No, but… god dammit. ”I don’t know…” he managed to whisper, on the verge of breaking down. He hated breaking down in front of people. and this, well, it was bad. ”I can’t-“ he whispered and turned around walking away from the place, to somewhere quiet, alone. He just couldn’t, he couldn’t stand there, he couldn’t face him, he couldn’t think straight and nothing made sense anymore…

Being a nor a cheerleader or soccer player, Delilah naturally had little to no interest in the soccer game itself. Though seeing a bunch of guys running around a field was something she wasn’t opposed to, and she knew she would be missing out on something if she didn’t make an attendance. So, after choosing an outfit, Delilah made her way to the Beryl Heights Stadium.

However, after a short amount of time of watching the soccer game and no changing of the score, Delilah lost patience and left the crowd, instead of going under the bleachers into the hallway. Though it seemed someone had noticed her doing so, as soon after closing the door to the hallway, it opened again. “Daniel, what do you want?” She asked, assuming that after the numerous attempts from him to talk to her had been ignored and rejected that he had finally given up, hardly looking at him before continuing to walk away. While she picked up her pace, so did he but Delilah found her way out, turning and heading for the bathroom.

But to her surprise, the door suddenly slammed open and, lo and behold, Daniel Parker was stood in the girls’ bathroom shouting for everyone to leave, the room quickly emptying with the girls happy to oblige. “If you say so,” Delilah said, joining the crowd to also leave, and even making it past him before he started talking to her again about her avoiding him. She sighed, turning around. “Daniel, with all due disrespect, I don’t care about whatever you have to say,” Delilah exclaimed with raised eyebrows, not sure how that message wasn’t getting through to him.

Daniel what do you want?

As if the girl didn’t know from the endless calls and messages he had been sending. Hell, she wasn’t even giving him a chance right now. Hence chasing her through the hallways and eventually into the girl’s bathroom. Daniel Parker knew when he had messed up. And that moment at the fashion show solidified how much exactly he had done so. Mistake on top of mistake; but what could he do. Daniel’s default setting was making mistakes. More than he could ever make up for. But when the rest of his world was falling apart; Daniel depended on Delilah. She had become a girl he relied on. And losing her hurt just as much as losing Jessica was hurting. His worry for both girls was at a maximum right now.

Daniel rolled his eyes as Delilah tried to avoid him again; though watch as she stopped at his words; turning it back on to him about how she didn’t care what he had to say. “Really Delilah? You don’t care? You seem to bloody care quite a bit with how much you’ve been visiting your father and sending your little lap dog on me… oh sorry, I mean Candice,” Daniel stated; walking over towards the bathroom door and leaning against it so she couldn’t leave.

“You want to bloody yell at me? Delilah? Then just fcking yell. Scream. I fcked up I know I did. But don’t ignore me,” Dan stated; trying to catch her eyes. It as true - more than being yelled at, Daniel hated this. Hated the idea of not talking at all. “What do you want me to say to get you to forgive me Delilah. I’m sorry? Well, you bloody have it Delilah. I’m sorry. I messed up; I should have looked into your dad the moment I had a feeling something was wrong. I didn’t.” Dan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as frustration showed through. And he was; utterly frustrated. He didn’t know how to fix this and everytime he tried he just made it worse. Usually, Daniel wouldn’t try. With anyone else; Dan wouldn’t care. But it was Delilah. And she meant a lot to him… especially after what he did. “What do you want me to do Delilah. Just fcking say SOMETHING,” Dan groaned.

THE PLAYLIST IF YOU WANNA LISTEN WHILE READING

“Well…” Jess struggled, attempting to speak… pushing to speak. “10/10 would not recommend getting stabbed,” Jess smiled, though it was soon replaced by a sharp intake of breath as her body revolted into a fit of coughs; blood leaving her lips as she finished. Her mind was working slower. It was hard for Jessica to know what was happening, but she could see people surrounding her… talking to her possibly? She couldn’t process it – multiple stimuli just made her head hurt more - but she found Dan’s arms wrapped around her body, screaming something. What? sigh Her head pounded as she focused on her surroundings – something that was honestly taking far too much effort.

“Jess, keep your eyes open. Keep thinking, keep your mind working – you’re going to be okay. You have to be okay.”

Daniel Parker. The moment her eyes met her cousins; a man who currently looked more worried than she had ever seen him. Emotion: it had never been his strong suit. If anyone knew that – it was her. Her mind drifted for a moment as she looked at him. To a better time.

Flashback:

“Dan, dan, dan, dannnn, dannny dannnydanndannn”

An eight-year-old girl yelled at the top of her lungs, poking another a boy who looked about the same age as she did. He was laying in his bed, hidden under the covers as a groan left his little lips. Jessica found herself watching the scene from the side… almost as if she was watching a movie. Though despite this – one thing she knew was that the little girl shouting Daniel’s name was her. She remembered this moment. It was a few days after Jessica had left her home in London; convincing her parents to let her go live with her cousin. A valid reason for doing so. One that was simply he needed her. Jess always had a way of being able to know that… to know when and where she was needed. Perhaps that was the start of her distance from Anna. The day she left her sister for her cousin, but the simple fact was… at that moment, Anna Pierce wasn’t the one who needed her. Daniel was.

A soft smile reached Jessica’s lips as she watched little her jump on the bed – pushing Daniel out; grabbing a pillow and hitting him with it. “You’re a bloody lazy arse nimbsickle,” Jess yelled as the man quipped with the fact that ‘nimbsickle’ wasn’t a word. Though, through some banter, for the first time in months; she saw Daniel smile. ”Oh no you didn’t,” she heard the boy mutter as he grabbed his own pillow; hitting her as well. And that’s when it started. The two laughing, hitting each other, and just… being there. He looked happy. For the first time in months. Since his sister died… Daniel Parker was laughing. Having fun. Was loved. Though he was always loved; it just took some time for her to convince him that he couldn’t get rid of her. He never could, after all.

End of Flashback:

“Hey…” Jess mumbled; her eyes opening from the memory. Feeling was gone now – her body didn’t hurt anymore but at this point, perhaps if her head was working, she would have realized that she was going into shock. What she realized in its place was that this may be the last time she could talk to her cousin. Really talk to him. Show him that she loved him more than anything. “Hey Dan… nooo…,” Jess smiled – struggling to laugh to show him she was okay. Struggling to bring her hand up; Jess put it into Daniel’s and attempted to squeeze as hard as she could – which was pitiful to say the least. “Hey listen to me.” She started – meeting the man’s eyes with a soft expression. “Daniel Parker you are…. loved. Don’t ever bloody forget that. You are not broken. You never were. Don’t you dare try to argue with me right now. Stop pushing everyone away because all we want is to be close to you. I love you Dan. I always will.” Jess mumbled. “And…” she continued, a soft smile on her features. “We both know I love to try new things. This… is… just… a new adventure. I’ll see you again one day okay? You’re my favorite tech wiz… ,” Jess whispered. Her features where calm as was her voice. The calmness in her contrasted the situation around her, the blood continuing to pool her around her body, everything. But Jess stayed that way; ignoring how much her head was hurting. How hard it was getting to be to breathe. And looked at Daniel Parker with serenity in her tone. Almost as if this was meant to be and Jess had always been ready for the day that it would happen. And maybe she had been. She always thought she should have died that day years ago. This was just… death fixing a mistake.

Her eyes faltered for second – moving between Daniel and to another figure nearby. Jessica had to blink a few times to make out who it was though smiled as she saw Andy standing there. “Hey nugget,” Jess added with a smile. “See now you can’t make fun of me for screaming during that tattoo,” she added; coughing again as more blood escaped her lips. As she looked at him; her eyes faltered close again. It was getting harder and harder to keep them open. But as she closed her eyes – another memory met her mind as it had before.

Flashback:

And again; there she was. Watching a scene as if she was a spectator in a movie. Looking around; Jess caught sight of her and Andy clearly a bit out of their minds standing on a boat with the captain that was looking at them; a smile on his face as well. The two begin laughing as they had their arms wrapped around each other for support for a moment before letting go and standing across from each other. She didn’t remember this moment… maybe she just thought she didn’t. But here she was. Jessica Pierce stood wearing a white sundress. And across from her was Andy McAllister; a smile on his face as he looked towards the captain and said “Alright start this sh!t up,”

And then it hit her; what was happening. It was the day Jess and Andy had gotten accidentally married after… borrowing a boat. Borrowing because the owner was apparently gone and the captain who was doing a check of the ship was a big Andy fan and offered a ride. Suffice to say; the two had said ‘I do’ in more ways than one.

“Do you have any vows?”

Andy smiled at the man – laughter leaving his lips as he nodded. “Jessica McAllister…” Though the moment he said that high Jess had covered his mouth and shook her head. “Hellllll no,” she smiled. “Right right. Okay. Jessica McNugget. You are… well for one completely out of your fcking mind… but you’re also my best friend. My person. My ride or die and If I had to get married – I couldn’t think of doing it with a better person than you. I promise to always buy you food and tell you when I’m sad and loveee you unconditionally.”

Something tugged at her heart as she watched that. The wholesome, high out of his mind Andy McAllister muttering those words. Was it real? Did he believe those words? Though Jess would probably never know the truth; she had a feeling it was. The moment they had become friends again years ago… they had been inseparable. What they had was deeper than artificial love. It was unconditional – it always had been. And Jess regretted never letting him know that. And maybe now she would never had the chance.

“Oh is it my turn? Yes? Okay. Andy andyy andy. I’m still wondering why someone would name a kid Andy and not’ tall ass tattooed nugget’ but that’s an issue with me and your parents okay…” Jessica stated; her fingers intertwined with Andy’s. It was interesting – watching this moment from her own point of view but also… not. A memory forgotten… but always there. “…but anyways… I just… damn you know me Andy… you know me more than anyone else. I ramble when I’m nervous Andy and you get that… but I don’t know. I guess that means I’m nervous for some reason. I shouldn’t be… but I am. All I know, Mr. Nugget, is you’re one of my favorite people in the world. I justtt always alwayssss feel like home around you and I want to feel that way all the time. You’re my home McNugget.” She added; wrapping her hands around his neck as she said those words. There was something there that made the illusion of her laugh; the one who was watching the moment. It was simply… so real.

“…Anddd I promise to steal your concerts every once in a while and make sure all those crazy fans know that you have an even crazier wife okay?” Jess muttered. Laughs left both of their lips as the captain smiled and said the familiar words of ”You may now kiss the bride” and they did. Andy pulled her in close; wrapping his arms around her body placing his lips on hers emitting a moan from her own mouth. And there they were; from that moment on – two McNuggets.

Though for some reason… the smile from the ghost of Jessica frowned when that happened. She brought her fingers to her lips – the memory turning into a feeling that she was… going to miss more than anything else. Her McNugget. Goodbye McNugget.

End of Flashback

Her eyes opened smiling weakly as she looked at the seemingly sad Andy. “Hey… think a tattoo would cover the scar?” Jess questioned in a joking manner; attempting to bring the man who was now kneeling beside her to smile. She needed it; to see him smile like he did in the memory. Happy like he was in the memory. “Ahh shi!t, I guess we won’t really have to worry about that… guess it’s a good thing. We both know I couldn’t sit through another one of those,” she muttered with a laugh – moving her hand out of Dan’s and bringing it to Andy’s. “You know I love you right nugget? Always will? Till death due us part.” Jess grinned. “Fcuk that; death can’t ruin what we have. I’m sorry about before… I’ll love you forever and always okay and I’ll be waiting for you to bring me nuggets on the other side….” She knew they were all saying something, but at this point – her head was pounding so intensely that she could barely concentrate on her own words let alone her friends. So she didn’t. She wasn’t listening to their words, she was focusing on her own. The words she needed to get out before anything happened. And no matter what anyone would tell her at this point; it was obvious to anyone that the blood loss was far past “you’ll be okay”

So instead; she moved her eyes to Dorian’s. Her smile faltering a second as for the first time she saw his saddened features. “Hey no, no – don’t do that,” Jess mumbled her eyes roaming the tears on his eyes.

Flashback:

“I SWEAR TO GOD DORI CHEAT ONE MORE TIME,” a 15-year-old Jess screamed; seemingly frustrated after he easily got past her to shoot a goal. She promised she wasn’t usually this bad. He just… wasn’t… not bad. Okay fine he was great and that made it really hard to use her 3-year-old pee-wee football skills on him. She did try though; he was just faster than her… better. She’d never of course admit that to him. But he was. He always had been and that’s why it was easy to cheer him on and support him. Because no matter what he thought. what he deluded himself with – he was always worth it. Always good… it just took time to see it for most people.

”Keep kidding yourself into thinking I’m cheating Jess. You’re just bad at this. Admit it.”

“Never DeLouser. I’m better at football then you are; you’re just a bloody cheat”

“SOCCER JESS SOCCER THIS ISN’T FOOTBALL,” Jess smiled as Dorian got the ball once again; but this time she didn’t let him get past. She simply tackled him almost as if they were playing real American football – using her body weight to push him to the floor; a smile on her face as she landed on top of him; his hands immediately wrapping around her waist to protect her from the impact – even when she was the one to cause it. It was one of the ways Jess knew there was more to him than others thought. His actions always proved his true nature, which was one of the protective sense. He cared and perhaps that’s why Jess resonated to him so well… better than she had Elodie. “And you call me a cheater? she heard Dorian mutter though she only shrugged. “Prove it,”. The night light illuminated his features and Jess could see the twinkle in his eyes. She loved him; yes. There was a still in their actions as she looked at him; clearly thinking about something. He hadn’t known it at the time but thinking back; Jess knew she was thinking about him. The fact that she was falling for him in that moment. After their stollen kiss that she pretended to not know about. In that moment; she could see the internal debate in the girl – almost telling him she remembered. “I…” Jess started; though instead of saying the real worlds she wanted to, Jess chickened out and instead tosstled his hair. “You’re a mess” the girl whispered instead – before trying to get off of him in an effort to steal the ball while he was down.

But before she could he pulled her back on top of him. “Nope. We’re just going to stay like this until you admit it cheater. I’m better than you.” A soft sigh left the girl’s lips as she wrapped her little hands around Dorian’s neck leaning into his ear. “Over my dead body, love,” Watching the scene from the side; a smile reached her lips as she found younger her trying to struggle off of him but it not working. So after a few moments; giving up - she saw the girl leaning her elbows on his chest as she looked at him with the bright eyes of a girl who had no idea what would happen with a few months. Of leaving her best friend… the man she had started falling in love with. or maybe she had always been. “I’m exhausted. Let’s go get some food Dori and forget that you were about to lose this game,” she stated – watching as he rolled his eyes and lt her off with a playful shove, making her fall on the grass beside him with a “Rude” leaving her lips as he got up. “Come on cheater, I’ll buy you some Ihop or whatever,” Her hands intertwined in his as he led her out of the soccer field

End of Flashback

“I sorry I broke my promise Dori… again…” Jess started; for the first time, a tear falling down her eyes as she looked at the man. “I can’t promise you I won’t leave again… I know I did a few weeks ago… but this time at least I can say I told you right?” she asked with a sad smile on her features – falling into a soft fit of coughs as her mind went to the memory of them playing soccer again. “You want to know a secret?” jess mumbled – her voice getting lower. Perhaps because of the secret… perhaps because she honestly couldn’t muster up being any louder anymore. It was getting too hard. “You were always my favorite DeLoughrey,” she smiled. “and always remember… I’m always here,” she whispered; her fingers struggling to meet his own; though she gently caressed the watch on his wrist. With Love, Jess still hidden within it. “Score a goal for me one day okay…. Promise me:” She muttered. She’d never know if he agreed to that promise. If anyone did – her mind’s processing had gotten so low that at this point it was a miracle that words even left her lips in a coherent fashion “I Love you blondie. I Always have.,”

Jess was having a hard time keeping her eyes open. Any fight that was left in her was going back to that – to doing that… for them. For her family. Moving her eyes further; a new girl sitting next to Dan holding his hand she smiled at her. Or what Jess believed was a smile. She didn’t even know if her senses were working anymore. “You’re going to make an amazing mother Jez,” she whispered softly looking at the girl.

Flashback

A soft laugh met her lips when Jessica had gotten that call that night. 11:52 PM and the call hit her phone from the London Police; one Jezebel Sloane calling her for bail. Who would have ever thought. “Can I get a picture of her in handcuffs?” Jess asked the cop who was filling out the paperwork – immediately giving her a glare at the question. “Okay… no… got it. Don’t have to give me those eyes, damn,” Jess laughed as her friend came out; giving her a long hug. “Dan’s gonna killlll usss,” Jess stated in a sing song voice as the girl rolled her eyes; going to the front to get her stuff. “So who’s this guy you’re locked up with?”

Jessica didn’t know what exactly was going on but the one thing she knew was Jezebel was having fun. More fun then she had seen the girl have in a long time. A carefree smile rested on her lips as she told Jessica about the guy she had met at the party and the trouble they had gotten into. “Well why the hell are you with me then?” Jess asked; looking at the cop behind the glass. “I’ll bail out the friend too,” Jess said, handing another cheque to the woman who begin processing Jezebel’s boy. “Promise me you’ll have fun for the rest of the night?” Jess asked Jezebel; winking before leaving the girl. Jessica could read a room and what she could read was that the girl was having the time of her life. Where was she to stand between that?

End of Flashback:

“Don’t… worry too much Jez… you’re at your best when you just be yourself,” Jess mumbled; giving the girl a last smile before bringing her bloodied hand to Jez’s belly. “Bye nugget,” she muttered to the stomach. Her breathing was getting more difficult. More strained. Her worry was she wouldn’t have enough time to get through everything. Everything she needed to say to everyone she cared about. Her heart ached.

Looking towards Kai on her left; she frowned at the side of his stomach that he was holding; though her left hand remained in his as she talked to the rest of them. A soft sigh left her lips as she saw him, moving her hand towards his face as she attempted a smile. “I understand Kai.” She mumbled.

Flashback:

Her eyes opened and she found herself wrapped in Kai’s arms. The days were most like this now, where she only slept in his bed. Though as she tumbled around; an attempt to do her daily ritual of walking at odd hours of the night, she felt his arms tightening around her waist – though no movement indicated that he was awake.

It had been this way for the last few weeks, every time she woke up, he pulled her closer and didn’t let her leave. At first she assumed it was a natural mechanism but now she was almost positive he was awake. A groan left her lips as she poked his face; attempting to catch him in the act. It’s not like she could escape his grasp so she usually simply ended up falling back asleep against him but tonight she was certain she was going to catch him. “You’re bloody awake and I know it,” Jess stated, wrapping her arms around his neck, as she kissed his forehead. She could she the soft corners of his cheek perk up but he made no movement, and again, sleep overtook her before she could see if her conclusion was right.

End of flashback:

Despite everything that had happened, part of her would forever care about him. “Goodbye my love,” she whispered finally; coughing once again as blood escaped her lips. She knew the blood that surrounded her body was past the point of you’ll be fine and more on the verge of how is she still alive and honestly, Jess didn’t know.

And finally; she could feel her body giving up. All she wanted to do was close her eyes. God she wanted to close them. “Anna” she mumbled. “No matter what; I want you to know you’re one of the most important people in my life. I always cared about you. I just didn’t think you needed me then. I’m so sorry about that. If I could take it back… I would,” Jess mumbled, her eyes falling up for a second as she pushed to stay away again “ Anna I will always love you but I need to… I need…” Jess whispered her eyes fluttering close for a second as she attempted to gather her strength. The last of it, to be frankly honest.

And for the last time; Jess’ mind went to the last memory she could muster.

Flashback:

“Tag you’re it,” Jess tapped her sisters’ shoulder as she ran around the park. The two identical five-year-olds were laughing at the top of their lungs as they chased each other around. Three other kids playing with them as well, though the one thing she could recall was the laughter. Anna’s laughter. Something she hadn’t heard in a long time. “Can’t catch me Anna banana,” the little Jess yelled as she dodged the girl. Though it wasn’t long until she did and the game continued. Until the end when the nanny came over to the two and told them it was time to go. “No I want a photo,” she recalled herself muttering and then pulled Anna to the other kids as she wrapped her arms around her sister – kissing her forehead as the nanny took the photo.

End of Flashback:

“Anna…I need you to be there for Will and Emmy. They need you. They need their big sister. They always did. Good… goodbye Anna banana.” Jess muttered finally. With that; Jess found her eyes fluttering closed though she pushed through; whatever strength she had left allowed it and made them open again as she looked at the people around her again; speaking to no one in particular anymore “Tell….everyone… I’ll… always… always. Lo- love them. All of them and I’m sorry… for leaving again.,” Jess painfully released and with that. She stopped fighting. She couldn’t anymore. And she didn’t. Jess allowed her eyes to close. She found the voices…. noises growing distant as for the first time in a long time; sleep overtook Jessica’s body. For the last time. So sure. She couldn’t say that her life flashed before her eyes… but here’s the secret. The best parts of her life did. With the best people. Forever and always.

You know how they say time freezes and your whole life runs by your eyes when you’re dying? So apparently it happens when you watch the ones you love die in front of your eyes as well. All those years of having Jessica in his life flashed through Andy’s eyes as he watched her drop down to the ground. All the ups and downs, all that they were and ever had, years of friendship, a beautiful marriage… all these things he thought have ended before the game, when actually the real ending was now. The ending you can’t come back from. Andy kneeled down on the floor next to her, he looked at her with tears in his eyes as she babbled goodbyes at all the people around. Honestly, that probably made it even worse, the pain, the death. Andy knew her well enough to know she wasn’t going to fight this, she wasn’t a fighter and this was no exception. saying goodbye… she gave up. ”Don’t say that. Fight. Please… you can’t…” he muttered quietly shaking his head, high enough for her to hear, if she was even listening, speaking as much as he managed before his voice cracked broken.
And then she turned to look at him and spoke, mentioning the time she got her tattoo. Oh how much fun Andy made of the way she screamed during it, as tiny as it was. That semicolon… in a way, it hit different now. she can stop, she can give up; but she can keep going. It’s not a full stop, it can’t be.
”Hey… think a tattoo would cover the scar?” It made no sense, but even on her deathbed she had the ability of making him smile, even if it was the smallest and most broken smile ever to exist. It hurt him to know the last thing he did was call her out and fight, she didn’t deserve that. Fcuk it, she didn’t deserve any of this, she was always too good for it, all of it. This town, this school, the people, her family, himself… she was too good for it, like a fallen angel in the disguise of a nugget.
Holding her hand not wanting to let go, Andy looked at her as she spoke, and his heart broke in his chest. ”I love you. I’m sorry…” He managed to say, She was his person, she always was, his best friend, his childhood crush, his accidental wife, his nugget. And one of the worst of things he had ever feared was knocking on the door, he was losing her. ”I’m so fcuking sorry Jess” he murmured as she moved on. Frankly, he almost forgot there were other people there, none of them mattered, not even remotely as much as the dying girl on the floor.

Of course Delilah had seen the messages. And the calls. And the DMs. Maybe she’d even read them, and listened to the voicemails. But maybe she wanted to believe that she didn’t need Daniel in her life. So far, she was making a strong attempt at proving it to be true. She wasn’t going to let this conversation stop that, and it was easy to prevent it from doing so when her mind went back to the fashion show every time he spoke.

Her head jolted back slightly at the mention of her father, and then Candice. “I didn’t send Candice to you,” Delilah claimed, surprised that he would think that. “Surely you should know if- in the impossible case- I had something to say to you I would say it to you myself. And me visiting him…” Her defensiveness began to crack slightly when addressing the mention of her father. “Believe me, that has nothing to do with- whether or not I care about- you. And I don’t, I don’t care,” She said, becoming more guarded again as she continued further.

“I don’t care, like you didn’t when you didn’t think about what I might have wanted when you initially found out and didn’t tell me. Like when you continued to not care when you- you made posts about Raelyn and Sarah and then Mary, or whoever the f^ck they were, when you could have been trying to get him out.” Delilah said, speaking in a continuous stream of thought before sighing and looking away, despite him trying to gain eye contact when he started talking.

“I want for you to get the message through to you that I don’t want to talk to you. Ever, preferably. Did I say enough, there?” Delilah replied frustratedly. But then she decided to continue, this time in a more joking-manner. “F^ck, I shouldn’t say that to you, though should I?” She said, exaggerating the emotion of being annoyed at herself. “Do me a favour, give me a heads up on which family member of mine you decide to send to prison this time,” Although this was said in a playful tone, the underlining tone of despise and severity was impossible to ignore. “You are quite limited for choice, though, fingers crossed it’s Lily-Ann, but… since when have you cared about what I think?”

Dorian DeLoughrey

When was the last time someone saw Dorian DeLoughrey cry? That’s a hard question, maybe even impossible to answer. It’s silly to talk about childhood and stupid reasons why kids cry because he was never one of those kids. He was always the kid that would get up when he’d fall and move on with his little life, unlike his sister and her crocodile tears. That’s what he does, but some things can change that, when you really care. And he does know how to care. Around 20 minutes after his unpleasant encounter with Daniel Parker happened something that easily changed that. Because what else do you do when someone you love dies?

It should’ve been a good day, good game but walking out to the field, this time at the very back, behind all of his teammates, his mind was stuck on the phone that ended up in the bin. On the fact that not even Daniel had a clue where Jessica was. Or Anna coming back… an informational he was actually grateful for because he would’ve been happy seeing a familiar face and mistaking it for Jess. Not because he couldn’t tell them apart but because she would probably be somewhere far away. And he’d be happy to see her there, like good old times. He’d be happy to see her get kicked out… not because he doesn’t want her there but because it was always funny, no matter how annoyed he’d get at first. No matter what he had to do after to make sure she could get back. And maybe even try to make him prove himself when it wasn’t necessary. After all, she knew she could never win. It’s little things like that he missed the most.

Of course, because of Daniel and what he said about Anna, the first thing Dorian wanted to do when he felt someone’s arms wrapping around him was to push the person away. Until he turned around and really looked at the girl. It was a mix of emotions - anger because of what she did and because he could finally confront her, relief because she wasn’t dead, happiness because she wasn’t dead and was actually there. “I hate you,” he mumbled shaking his head as a weak smile met his lips. That’s the first thing he said? Would’ve been great if it was the last thing he said considering what would happen just minutes later. And… of course he didn’t mean that. How could he? Instead he whispered “You’re okay,” letting his eyes close for a second as he listened to her talking about winning and Kyle, before she walked away. A smile that was still on his lips was replaced with a confused look seeing what happened next, seeing her slapping her sister and dragging her inside. Did Dorian make a mistake by going after her a few minutes later, just to see what was happening because he could feel it was bad? Was it better to just stay where he was and… lose her all over again without a chance to say anything? Or would staying there just make what came next seem less real, make it hurt less? No. Nothing could make it hurt less just like nothing could prepare him for what he walked into.

There are five stages of grief. There are also many ways someone could deal with grief. What was his way? Well, he didn’t know because he was never in that situation, at least not when it came to someone he cared deeply about. And he didn’t want to find out, not so soon… and not because of her.
It was a strange feeling. The whole room became silent the moment he saw her on the ground, her friends around her, her sister trying to help. But was it silent? Who really knew, to him it was. He was in shock, refusing to believe in what was happening, letting it all be a blur until he found himself next to her… just then realizing how bad it actually was. He lost her once, almost five years ago and it was a hurt he’d never felt before. It seemed impossible to get over and honestly he never did, no matter what act he tried to put on. She was always a special person to him. Someone who could always make him happy, make him feel like he was worth something. He lost that once, he couldn’t do it again. Once he lived in a world without Jessica and it was about to happen again, last and final time. So to answer my first question - now. At that moment.

Tears filled his eyes, tears he couldn’t and didn’t want to fight back, as she was trying to talk. About what? He didn’t know. He couldn’t hear anything. He was focused on remembering details about her, her weak smile, her eyes, her voice… things he might not see or hear again. Not like this. Or how perfect she was to him, how much she meant to him… things he never said to her but wanted. Things he didn’t even know he wanted to say until now when it was too late, when it wouldn’t matter. A tear rolled down his cheek when she meet his eyes, his hand immediately finding hers. With so many things going through his mind the only thing he could say… whisper was “Don’t.” *Don give up, don’t talk like that you’ll be fine, don’t leave me. “Jess… no. I love you,” another whisper, an attempt to talk when he couldn’t. When he couldn’t move. A part of his own world forever stopping at that moment.

Elettra Azure. A girl who… though Anna would never admit it, was the mastermind behind everything that had happened over the… hell… past two years since Anna finally gained her freedom from the prison she was kept in. Anna had met the girl 4 years ago, both locked in the same mental institution. One that keeps their residents a secret because no one in the upper class could let society know that their family member was different. Mental Illness doesn’t exist in the elite, didn’t you know, darling? El and her; in a way, had always been in the same boat. Hell – let’s call it a yacht. A similar hatred of their siblings coursing through their veins. And it was in those two years that they discussed how to get back at their respective siblings. Revenge was not a road taken lightly, but it was one that both of them so fervently sought. Not just towards Jessica; but Kai too. A plan in the works with multiple contingencies on both sides. You see - it wasn’t just a point to make sure Jessica fell for Kai; having him break her heart was just the cherry on top. Rather - there was always a plan in the works for him to fall for her as well. Equally broken – something that was both their goals. Though Anna knew that El was p!ssed about the recent announcement of Kai’s engagement with the princess of who the hell knows where. A small country in Europe that barely had any funds left to survive and here comes Kai with all the money they could ever need. The only thing in return is he’d get a title. I mean what the hell; what do you give the man who has everything in the world? Well, a crown of course. It was clearly an arranged marriage; though Anna was trying to explain to El that everything was working to plan despite the hitch. Kai was unhappy and had to marry a girl he didn’t love – just as their plan had initially warranted. But no; Elettra wanted assurances. And so here she was; coming to Beryl because El wanted to meet here… in person after her escape. What a bore; out of all of Europe and the world - she wanted to meet here. Disgusting.

It was clear that El was upset; when was she not? El had always been less refined in holding back her emotions than Anna was. “El calm down…” Anna started, closing her eyes in annoyance. A fight with Jessica and now this. She didn’t want to deal with it. “… we can bloody talk about this outsi-” Anna didn’t get to finish her statement, however; because in the midst of it, Anna felt her body pushed to the side - causing her to lose balance. “What the hell, Je…” though as Anna finally looked at the situation and noticed what had happened; her eyes widened and her heart dropped. Her body felt frozen as she watched her sister fall to the floor with a thud. “no-n…” Anna was at a loss for words as she rushed to her sister’s side; looking at the wound that was now pooling blood. El had stabbed her sister and pulled the knife where she had fallen; and by the amount of blood coming out - it wasn’t looking good. Her sister’s eyes were shut; and Anna paled at the sight of blood on her own hands. And then she acted; her body instinctively pushed her to pull off her own cotton jacket and hold it tightly against where Jess was bleeding. This can’t be happening.

Her heart went from stilling to racing as she looked at her sister. “Jess… keep your eyes open. Please.” Anna cried; not even caring about Elettra who had now taken the knife and started moving towards Kai. That wasn’t her concern. Her concern was that her sister had just pushed her out of the way knowing that there was a knife. Jessica Pierce had sacrificed her own life for Anna’s… and honestly, anna didn’t deserve that. Tears had started falling down Anna’s face for the first time in 10 years. All the emotions she had kept hidden bubbled up as she held the jacket tighter against her sister’s body. Though blood had easily seeped through the cloth and continued running down the floor.

“Jessica don’t… leave… me,” Anna mumbled; so low that no one probably heard her. Jess had started saying something - goodbyes to all of them and for some reason that hurt Anna more than anything had ever before. This was never supposed to happen. Jessica was never supposed to be hurt like this. She just… Anna just wanted Jessica to feel a fraction of what she had felt when she had left a decade ago. “I’m so sorry…"Anna cried; hugging her sister softly as tears continued to fall down her eyes. Her heart was breaking, and it was her own fault. It was her fault that her sister was laying on the floor dying in front of her eyes. Her fault that they were in that position at all. People often said Anna didn’t care about Jessica… maybe at one point, she begin to believe it. Believe that she didn’t care and that her sister didn’t care for her. But this moment revealed the very opposite as her heart twisted into two. She couldn’t lose her. “Jessie please,” Anna whispered; using the nickname the two had adorned each other as kids. Her Anna banana and her sister, Jessie.

Though those very tears only grew as the dying girl looked at her, using her bloody hand to grab onto the other one that wasn’t tightly trying to contain any blood that was left in her own body. It only took her statement of telling Anna that she cared that caused Anna to fall apart. She was dying in front of her eyes and it was killing Anna. “Jessica… I’m so… sorry… Please forgive me… I can’t…” she didn’t have the right words. For the first time in her life; Anna Pierce was speechless. Her hands covered with her sister’s blood as her older sister shook her head telling her that she loved her and asking if she’d take care of their little siblings. “I promise,” Anna escaped; a sob leaving her mouth as the girl made her last promise to her sister. Though she knew when Jessica’s body went limp; that it was over.

Anna, in that moment, could feel the hurt in that moment. Everything Anna had done to her sister; only to learn she was wrong the whole time. Only to find that her sister would sacrifice herself over her – a girl who’s life would never amount to Jessica’s. Hell; just look at the number of people that surrounded them. Anna couldn’t say that she’d have this many people saddened if she died. And apparently, the one person who did care; with her full heart had just left her. In shock; Anna pushed herself away from the body; hitting the lockers as she looked at her hands covered in her sister’s blood. She could see Dan was doing something though she was no longer paying attention. Anna simply… sat there. Unable to move. Unknowing of what was happening around her but knowing one thing. Her sister had just died, and it was her fault.

Her world was falling apart. People may not believe it; with everything she did to her sister - people likely wouldn’t. Could she blame them? No. But she never wanted this. And now she sat there; watching as the pulled her sister’s body up trying to get her back. And for a moment; Anna didn’t move. She saw the people around her; just as much in shock, as she was. She saw the blonde dude get up and rush out and perhaps that moved her out of her own head. With that; Anna got up; rushing out only to see the ambulances leaving - one holding her sister, the other her cousin who had fallen moments earlier. “No,” she screamed outside. She knew people were looking at her and the others who had gathered. The game had halted when the ambulances had arrived and people were likely curious to what had happened. “No” Anna stated again; walking away though someone was right behind her. She didn’t realize for a moment but then recognized her as the girl she had slept with a few weeks ago. “You… I need… I need a ride to the hospital. Now… my sister. .she needs me… I need to…” She didn’t have the right words as tears streamed down her eyes.

“It doesn’t fcking matter I just need you to drive me to the hospital right now,” Anna stated clearly; looking the girl in her eyes as she said those words.

Frustration didn’t even begin to explain how he felt in this moment with Delilah Hawthorne. If only for one bloody moment she’d listen to him. There were times where he respected her stubbornness. Perhaps he was being hypocritical, but he wasn’t truly appreciating it at this very moment. Maybe the truth was just that Daniel was afraid to navigate this life without her by his side. She would always be one of his closest friends; a girl who understood him when others didn’t. Cut off the same cloth. Bonnie and Clyde. And now there was a wedge between them that Dan wasn’t sure he could remove. Could he even recover this? It was just a bloody mess and he didn’t… know how to go about fixing the situation.

Though, Daniel couldn’t help the roll of his eyes when she explained she hadn’t sent Candice. Dan knew Delilah better than she knew herself. Just like she knew him better than he knew herself. Danny knew that Delilah never had to explicitly tell her sister anything. There were certain times that family took over without being asked; hell, he knew that from experience with Jessica and Jezebel. “You know; I don’t believe that. I think after everything that’s happened, for the first time you’re scared Delilah. And you don’t bloody like admitting that for once in your life, you’re fcking scared. Well, guess what Delilah, we all are.” Dan stated; a vulnerability that he never showed in front of anyone, being on full display when he was with her. “Stop putting these bloody walls up. We both know it’s not going to keep me out.” Dan added; looking her in the eyes with every word as she continued to push the fact that she didn’t care. She called him out on his sh!t, and this was no different. “I did what I thought I needed to Delilah. Was it right? No; but don’t try to pass that off as me not caring,” he groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“I want for you to get the message through to you that I don’t want to talk to you. Ever, preferably. Did I say enough, there?”

“You know what, Delilah, it’s bloody getting really close. Do you ever look in the damn mirror and realize that you push every single person away? Do you?” Dan questioned; annoyance seeping through his voice as he looked at her. Maybe he was being a hypocrite. He, after all, did the exact same thing. He never, however, thought he’d be at the other end and fighting. Fighting for someone pushing him away… but how many times could he keep doing this. Chasing after something that clearly wasn’t ever coming back. “Here’s a heads up,” Dan started, a soft sigh leaving his lips as he walked towards the door of the bathroom. “I got your father’s sentence repealed. It took some time, but he’ll be released in a week. So, don’t say I didn’t try Delilah. I made my mistakes, but I’m trying to fix them,” Dan said; giving her one last look before walking out the door.

Yes; frustrated. Frustrated with Delilah, with his damn cousin who he couldn’t find, with things just falling apart all around him. And; from what would happen next, that wasn’t going to diminish anytime soon. As Dan made his way down the hallway; headed towards the door – he found students surrounding something; a scream hitting his ears. “Did I miss a catfight?” Dan joked; walking up to two students on the edge who moved the moment he arrived. It took him a second to realize what was happening, but his smile soon dropped. Jessica was fighting with Anna; though as he made his way forward to pull them apart – something else happened. Something that made it feel like his world was falling apart. He hadn’t exactly seen what had happened from where he was coming from but there was a horrible feeling in Dan’s gut as he looked at Jessica’s back; a girl standing in front of Jessica as the girl, herself, stilled – before falling. “Jess?” Dan questioned – confusion meeting his voice until he saw the blood. “JESS,” Dan yelled; pushing the student in his way as he ran to his cousin on the floor. He Immediately propped her head on his lap as he looked at her face. “Jess wake up,” Dan frantically muttered; the worry clear in his voice as he brought his head to her heart. Still beating. “SOMEONE BLOODY CALL 911” Dan screamed to the students watching around them as Anna seemed to be useful for ONCE in her damn life and holding pressure against the wound.

As he looked at the girl lying in front of him; looking younger than she had ever before… more serene than he had seen her in years – and he was at a loss. Part of him was dying every second she didn’t open her eyes; though relief filled him when she finally opened them – making a joke as the first thing. A bloody joke in the middle of this. “Jess, keep your eyes open. Keep thinking, keep your mind working – you’re going to be okay. You have to be okay” Dan stated clearly; trying to keep his emotions bogged down so he could make sure she made it out of this alive. He was going to fcking make sure she made it out of this alive. His hand had already gone to his phone; making sure to reroute the closest ambulance towards them – making sure all lights in the path were green so the ambulance would get there within 4 minutes. Dan wasn’t going to take chances. Not with… god all the blood. There was so much blood.

“Hold the pressure tighter, Anna.” Dan screamed, taking his own shirt and throwing it at her so she had something else cotton to hold against it. “Jess breathe. Slow breaths. Think. What’s the square root of 1521?” Dan questioned; however, she wasn’t responding to his questions. “Jess Answer me,” Dan uttered again; though this time, all confidence had left his lips. Rather; what was left was a shell of a man who was truly, for the first time in a long time, petrified. Fear clouded his being as his mind went back to when he was 7 and his 2-year-old sister was kidnapped. Terrified that he was about to lose another family member. No… he couldn’t. Dan wouldn’t survive that.

”Hey”

A tear fell down his face as he looked at her ”Daniel Parker you are…. loved. Don’t ever bloody forget that. You are not broken. You never were. Don’t you dare try to argue with me right now. Stop pushing everyone away because all we want is to be close to you. I love you, Dan. I always will.”

No. She can’t leave him. This wasn’t happening. This wasn’t happening again. It couldn’t. Jessica Pierce was there for him when no one else was. When he had lost everything else in his goddamn life. When his little sister had died… because of him and she was there. She pulled him out of the depts of his loss; and he wasn’t going to let her go. He couldn’t fcking let her go. “Jess stop,” Dan muttered; his voice cracking now – though what made it hurt more was the fact that she wasn’t responsive; meaning something was wrong. No physical response to his words; she just kept talking. And although no one else may have understood she wasn’t comprehending what was going on – he did. “Fck, fck” Dan screamed as she looked over to Andy; moving her hand that was quickly growing cold from his to Andy’s.

“NO,” Dan yelled hysterically looking up at a blonde girl who was swinging the knife towards Kai. “You’ll be okay,” Dan whispered; placing a kiss on Jessica’s head as he made his way towards the girl with the knife from behind. Placing his hand over her neck into a chokehold, until she passed out from lack of oxygen to the brain. Dan kicked the knife out of her hands and looked at Kai with tears streaming down his eyes; not caring that the man had a stab wound of his own; before pushing the man against the lockers roughly. “If she dies, I will kill you myself Malachi Azure,” Dan stated to the man before not wasting another second before pushing him against the lockers and running back to grab ahold of Jessica’s body in his own arms – her words of him being loved echoing in his mind as he tightly held Valerie’s hand who had found her way next to him.

He could hear the ambulances approaching and gave Val a look. “Tell…tell them where we are I can’t… leave… her,” Dan got out as Jess continued saying goodbyes… though he wasn’t going to let her die. He couldn’t let her… he… wouldn’t let it happen. Letting go of Valerie’s hand; Dan’s ear went back to Jessica’s chest – her heart growing weaker. He could fcking hear it. “No…” Dan mumbled; though with another whisper of her voice; she let her eyes close. But this time; Jess wasn’t fighting to open them again. “Fck fck, no,” Dan muttered; putting his ear back to her chest and hearing nothing before moving his fingers to her pulse point; though finding nothing. “No, no this isn’t happening,” Dan immediately started his watch; getting on top of her as he started doing compressions on her chest to make sure her heart was still pumping blood to her organs. “GET THE FCKING DOCTORS,” Dan screamed; continuing the compressions unwilling to let the girl he considered a sister go.

Though as he allowed his eyes to go towards the side; where the EMT were entering the building – he saw something else. His sister’s face looked pale where she stood. “Jez?” Dan screamed before she fell with a scream.

Embarrassed didn’t even begin to describe how CC felt getting out of her car. Looky here; the girl who faked her death by driving a car off a bridge really can’t drive. Fck. Though that only grew when she saw who it was. It was odd; there was a time that she and Maverick were the most… normal around one another. He knew her better than most people knew her and it just felt good to be around him. And part of her still felt that way when she saw him; but at the same time, there was something else there. The two had months apart but that didn’t mean she still didn’t care about him. Though it hurt that when she left; she had been ignoring him for months. Months because her mother made her. A soft smile graced her lips when he said it was fine; causing her to shake her head. “You always did let me off the hook more than you should,” C revealed; helping brush him off when he got up. She ignored the feeling of being close to him again after months of being apart. Looking back up at him when he said it was fine. “I’m still sorry - I need to watch where I’m going,” Candice sighed. Perhaps part of the reason she didn’t reach out when she got back was that she didn’t know what to say. She had talked to his siblings; it was… almost easier. But him she had slightly avoided… until now, at least.

"How are you"

It was a question that brought a laugh from her lips and she truly couldn’t control it. “I’m sorry Mav really? Are you going to talk about the weather next? Is that where this conversation is going?” she questioned though a soft frown met her lips at the question. Had they really grown that far apart. “But to answer your question…” CC started; doing a spin for him. “No bruises and I’m alive - so apparently doing better than you,” She revealed. “Look… I’m sorry about what happened… I know I’ve been avoiding you a bit I just… don’t know what to say or how to apologize for the shii I put you through. But I am sorry about… running you over and before,” Candice revealed… though after a moment she looked at him. “Hey what do you say we get out of here and hang out like old times?”

When Valerie and Jezebel followed the Pierce twins into the school, the last thing Valerie expected was exactly what happened there.
And if you thought seeing Anna surprised her, seeing her cousin, Elettra, who she hadn’t seen in ages, standing there as well ”El?” she asked confused, looking at the girl. And as her gaze moved from the girl’s face, her body grew tense as she spotted a knife in her hands. Valerie knew her cousin wasn’t really stable, to say the least, but seeing her in the middle of C high with a knife in her hand wasn’t something she expected, and wasn’t something that’ll end good for sure.

And the room filled with fights and yells suddenly went silent, as Valerie (and probably everyone) stared in shock as Jessica paused, before falling, bleeding out on the school floor ”NO!” she screamed, her eyes widened in shock and her hand covering her mouth. How she pushed Anna and took the blow for her, that was something Valerie appreciated even though it didn’t seem to be going very well for her. But saving her sister’s life even after everything the girl has done to her… it was something Valerie learned to appreciate about Jessica, and something she could also relate to herself, the way they’d do anything for their family… even when it brings them to situations like this, situations that most likely won’t get to a happy ending.
And family… well, that included the blond girl who just stabbed Daniel’s cousin. And that made it even harder…

”SOMEONE BLOODY CALL 911”

Being the stable voice of reason wasn’t easy, but she needed to do it, for Jessica. She didn’t deserve to die. So as everyone gathered around the girl, Valerie called 911 and directed them to the school.
Some of the most important people to her were there, Daniel, Kai, Andy… move dorian and they were all hurting and barely functioning. It hurt to see them like that almost as much as it hurt to see the girl dying on the floor with her sister crying on top of her. ”fcuk…” she whispered as she looked back at her murderous cousin, seeing her walking towards Kai with the knife. ”KAI!” she screamed as she ran there, right before she was about to try and stop her, Daniel luckily beat her to it, and actually managed to stop the girl, which she herself probably wouldn’t have managed, but it wasn’t about to stop her from trying either way.

”Tell…tell them where we are I can’t… leave… her,”
Valerie held his hand tightly for a moment, she wanted to be there to support him, but the best thing she could do at this morning was bring the doctors there. So maybe, just maybe, the girl on the floor would get another chance of life. ”I will” she said and squeezed his hand before letting go and going to bring the doctors.

Bursting back through the hall with the medics, Valerie pointed them to the girl and made her own way to be beside Daniel as much as she could. At this moment, he needed her more than she needed him, and as sad and shocked as she may have been, she knew she had to suck it up and put on this brave face and be there, the supporting stable one. ”She’s going to be okay” she told him as she put her hand on him, planting a small kiss on his head ”She has to…” she whispered, quiet enough so nobody but herself could hear.

Valerie and Jessica we’re a complicated story, but as she looked at her, weak and helpless, all the memories of the days before she left came to her mind. She always felt a connection to Jessica, even before she developed feelings, and even before the whole Anna story. She was special, one crazy ass human being that nobody could ever truly understand, herself included. And planning Kai’s party and all, Valerie was the two were in each other’s lives again, and never did she expect Jessica’s to be this short. It just… it wasn’t fair. She didn’t deserve for it to end this way…

She sighed as Daniel told her he didn’t believe her when she claimed to not send Candice to him. Though when Delilah tried to argue against that, Daniel continued, not even flinching at her attempt to talk, telling her she was scared. Immediate rejection of that idea could easily be noticed as Delilah furrowed her eyebrows, shaking her head in disbelief. “Maybe. Or maybe you just really don’t know me at all,” She replied raising her eyebrows, in the small gap he left between phrases. Despite knowing which of those options actually was true, Delilah said it with enough confidence it was easy to think she actually believed the latter. Though that was all she said to him for a while, as she began to just pretend she wasn’t listening to his words.

As he continued, Delilah knew that she was pretty much one conversation- or argument- away from him giving up and them losing each other. But maybe that was for the best, and she didn’t let it stop her from continuing. “What, and you don’t look in the mirror and see the same thing? Do you?” She asked back, deflecting and turning it onto him by repeating his own words while stepping forward and now looking very much at him, the person she was losing. Perhaps he was right. About… most if not all of what he was saying. But Delilah would never be one to admit it, especially when everything he was saying would also be applied to himself too because, as he had said himself, they were one in the same.

However, her hard eyes and defensive manner faltered when Daniel concluded by telling her he got her father out of prison. Before she had a chance to even think of a response, he left. Sh¡t. That was all she wanted. And now he had actually done it. Delilah hadn’t expected him to have done it, and now that he had, though she was probably supposed to go after him and forgive, apologise, thank him. But the part of her that wanted to do that was overrun by the stubborn side of her that wanted to hold onto her pride. So, she stayed in the bathroom for a considerable amount of time before she felt it was safe to leave without him being anywhere nearby.

Though when Delilah left the bathroom and walked down the hallway again, someone who was in front of her walking in the opposite direction to her caught her attention. As she got closer though, the small smile that came from seeing him left. “Dorian… what- what happened?” She questioned, stepping in front of him to stop him in his tracks, never expecting to see him like this and wondering how long she had been in the bathroom to miss whatever happened.

It all happened too fast but it seemed so slow. People moving to make the way for the EMT, sound of ambulance car, Daniel doing his best to try and keep Jessica alive when it seemed like she wasn’t. But she was? She had to be okay, she will be okay. She just had to… It was what he wanted to make himself believe in, a lie because he couldn’t face the truth. Not even when he looked down at his own hands, bloody hands from kneeling right there, next to her. Not when they rushed away with her and he was almost left there alone, helpless. Something happened to someone else but that he didn’t care about. What could possibly be worse than his best friend, a friend he finally had again, being dead.

Numb, not being able to move, to get up - that’s how he felt. With his vision still blurry, he watched things happening right in front of him but it seemed like a bad movie scene. Like it wasn’t real, but oh was it real. And he just wanted - he knew he had to get away from that place. To be alone and deal with it on his own. Watching the door close behind everyone, with some people still there in a quiet hallway, he was again aware of his surroundings, fully aware of what happened, of his feelings but that only made it worse. Struggling to get up with more tears rolling down his cheeks, he once again looked down at his hands before turning around and walking in the opposite direction, towards the bathroom. It was hard to think, hard to understand what he was supposed to do now… what do you do when something like that happens right in front of you and you can’t stop it? He wanted to go after them, to see what happens next, to just be there till the very end but he couldn’t.

In that rush he didn’t even notice a person walking towards him until they stopped in front of him, a voice he recognized making him look up. At this point he really didn’t care about anything, didn’t care about the way he looked or pretending nothing was wrong. What happened? What was he supposed to… no, how was he supposed to say what happened? “She…” he quietly started before his voice cracked and the only thing he could do is just walk past Delilah and go straight to the bathroom. Turning on the faucet, he vigorously started washing his hands to get the blood off, his breathing quickening before resting his hands on the sink and just watching the water. Finding it really hard to breathe.

Jezebel Mallory Parker

Blood, so much blood. There was too much to even know where one person’s blood ended and the others began. Most was from Jess, but not all. When Jezebel and Valerie had followed where Jess and Anna had gone, nobody expected for this to possibly happen. Jess and Anna were fighting, and suddenly a blonde came walking into the picture with a knife, stabbing Jess in front of them all. Even with Anna having used her own jacket to stop the bleeding, it was no use. Jess’s blood was quickly pooling on the floor around her. There was too much blood loss for Jess to survive. Jezebel sat next to Daniel, right by the dying Jess. “Don’t… worry too much Jez… you’re at your best when you just be yourself” Jezebel was already breaking down, and Jess’s words only made her cry harder. Jess was someone who had a way of knowing the best thing to say to someone, what Jess said, she needed to hear, but that didn’t make anything easier. Jess was still dying. As Jess’s eyes closed, Jezebel stood up, stepping away. Daniel was trying to keep Jess alive, but there did not seem to be a chance. Jezebel had spent the past few months in a near constant state of stress, but this moment, seeing her cousin dying, was the most stressful she had experienced. It was only a matter of time before her stress and worries would catch up to her. It wasn’t good for her or the baby. Chronic stress vastly increased the risk of complications, including preterm labor, and this was just the final straw. Jezebel physically couldn’t take the stress any longer. Shock, stress, everything, it was all too much. Jezebel’s eyes met her brother’s for just a moment as he called over to her before she found herself on the floor as well. Jess’s blood, Kai’s blood, and now her own.

Delilah stood in front of him, trying to read him for what happened. She looked down at his hands and then back up at Dorian when he began to compose an answer. But he couldn’t get past the first word, instead brushing past her to the bathroom. Delilah didn’t move at first, instead just looked at the door that closed behind him. After a short moment of hesitation, Delilah started walking in the direction Dorian had come from, to see what had happened before going back.

She assumed she had reached the perimeters of what had happened when she saw an ambulance not too far from where she was walking. Delilah stopped one of the many people walking distressed away from the centre, asking what had happened. It only took a few brief words before Delilah had enough of an idea on what it was. Jessica Pierce. An old friend of hers who became a stranger when she left everyone. The cousin of Daniel Parker, who she could safely assume was in the centre of this. And as much as she had convinced herself she hated him, her heart broke a little for him. But her mind went back to Dorian, who was alone in the bathroom.

Walking back the way she came from, Delilah showed no hesitation to enter the bathroom that Dorian was in, ignoring the eyes of the people walking past her, looking her up and down, creating their own reasons for why she would be entering the guys bathroom. As she entered, there was no one else in there and so her entrance was unnoticeable. For a while, Delilah just stood by the door, not knowing the correct way to approach the fragile Dorian without making it worse. Nor did she ever know how to approach these kind of situations, in lesser versions of it too.

“Dorian, I…” Finally breaking the silence, her voice echoing off the walls. She carefully walked closer to him, placing a hand on top of one of his that he had rested on the sink and tried to find his eyes that were continuously darting around. “I’m sorry, Dorian,” She quietly said.

One, two, three, four, five, six… Dan was counting compressions as he looked at Jessica’s motionless features. Her eyes were closed; her head moved to the side and she just… wasn’t moving. “Please,” Dan whispered to the girl who could no longer hear him as he kept going. Dan didn’t know what he would do without her. He couldn’t… do it without her. She was his rock. She was the one who kept him sane when he went overboard… which let’s be honest, he did often. She was his family… his fcking family; the one he swore he would protect with his life. He couldn’t… lose her. Because if he lost her… he’d lose himself. He was losing himself.

But it seemed the worst day of his life had only begin. As the medics entered the room with Valerie; Jezebel fell to the floor, screaming in pain. “JEZ,” Dan screamed; though not moving off Jessica’s body. If he stopped compressions – the blood wouldn’t move through her body and she’d be gone. Dan watched as half the medics rushed towards Jezebel’s side and the other half walked to him; screaming things. ”How long”; ”How many compressions”. For the first time; Dan was overwhelmed. He felt Val’s kiss though didn’t process it. After a few seconds; Dan looked at the medics – realizing he needed get out of his own head. “23 seconds; 21 compressions,” Dan yelled as the medic switched off with him doing compressions; two others getting her on a gurnee as they started running her towards the ambulance.

Though Dan didn’t stay behind; the moment he got off of Jessica; he ran. He ran like his life depended on it – following both gurnies. One with his sister who was screaming in pain and the other lifeless. Two different ambulences and he had to make a choice. A choice he didn’t fcking want to make. Daniel looked at Valerie; “I need you to go with Jezebel,” Dan said; holding her face. “I need you to make sure they prioritize her.” Dan whispered again. “Listen to me. If they ask you; say Jezebel,” he whispered again; a tear dropping from his face before he went into the ambulance with Jessica. “Sir you cannot…” “I’M FAMILY” Dan screamed – getting in the back of the ambulance next to his cousin. People were screaming from all directions. ”WE NEED A BLOOD INFUSION NOW,” one of the men screamed; still doing compressions – though they had started ripping her shirt open and placing the pads for the deliberator. And Dan… he just sat there. “She’s AB+ she can take any blood,” Dan told the medics; “I’m AB + too;” Dan stated – attempting… bloody trying to do anything he could. But really – his world was simply falling apart. And there he was; someone screaming “Clear” as he watched his cousin’s body jerk up with the electric shock to her body. “Move the voltage to 400 volts” the man said; recharging the pads. “Clear” He screamed; before administering the shock again. “800 volts;” – and it continued. Dan looked at his watch; they had been doing this for two minutes. Two minutes of shock. Two minutes she had been dead. Though after a few moments; he saw the medics look at each other. “Time of death; call it,” one of the men said; starting to put the device down.

*”Time of death; 14:00 hours,” The medic called.

And at that moment; Daniel Parker had officially fallen apart. His world had crumbled. And yet again; he had lost another piece of himself.

Secret part 2:

Perhaps it’s when your world is falling apart that you have the most strength. Perhaps it’s also when you’re the most irrational. Either way; all that Daniel Parker knew was that at 2:00 PM he lost a family member. A member that everyone in the room had given up on. He understood. It was an excess loss of blood. And she had now been dead for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Even if she woke up; the chance at brain damage was exponentially increased. But when he looked at the fallen girl; he didn’t see a lost cause like the medics in the ambulance rushing to the hospital did. No, he saw the girl who got him out of more dark places than he could count.

Daniel’s eyes blurred; his eyes moving down to his bloodied hands. Her blood. His family’s blood was on his hands. And Daniel could feel the tears streaming down his eyes as one of the medics had the audacity to touch his shoulder. “No,” Dan whispered; His eyes filling with a rage as he looked at the medics. “NO” he screamed as he heard someone say ”Restrain him” and Daniel only glared at the person saying that. “Do you know who the fck I am; I’m Daniel fcking Parker. I bloody own the hospital you’re driving to,” Dan screamed; going to his cousin lying dead and wrapping his hands around her dead body for a moment. “A million dollars,” Dan yelled in pain; looking at the people around him. “Every additional shock; I’ll give you all a million dollars each. Do it again,” Dan screamed. He could see the incredulous looks on the medic’s features; and Dan looked at his watch 2 minutes and 45 seconds. He knew every second was vital. “Now,” Dan screamed and after a few moments the medics nodded; perhaps they knew he could follow through with that promise and a million dollars was more than enough for one single person. “charge to 1200 Volts” the medic yelled; charging the pad as they looked around. “Clear,” and again; Jessica’s body jolted up. Though EKG showed no heart movement. “Again,” Dan uttered; a strength in his voice as the man charged the machine again. “Clear,” At 3:03 seconds they did it again; her body once again jolting without any movement. “Sir… the likelihood of…” though Dan cut him off. “You’re at two million each. Do it the fck again,” Dan screamed; and the medics nodded. Moving the voltage up to the highest level of 1700; the man yelled clear. And again; Jessica’s body moved up. But this time. This time; something moved. A sound on the EKG showed a heartbeat. “What the…” One of the medics started; though the moment the weak heartbeat was shown; the medics started yelling again. “We need three bags of AB positive blood stat,” and there it was.

3:13. Jessica Pierce was dead for three minutes and thirteen seconds. And at that moment; Dan prayed to whatever god there was for listening = For her to be okay. He knew this could be a fluke. That she might not survive the trip. But she was alive. Jessica Pierce was alive.
