There was an ease of being wrapped up in Dorian’s arms as she let her eyes closed. For the longest time Jess missed this… missed being able to wake up next to him. A decade of lost time… that’s really what it was. But honestly, now that Jess had him back… she wasn’t let him go. Not again… so with that thought, Jess allowed her eyes to close - listening to his breathing as she found her mind wondering not to the heartbreak in her past, but rather, the good memories she had with him.
Flashback:
Where was Jessica supposed to be right now? The answer? London attending her “Current Events” Journalism Class. And where was she actually at the moment? Well… going to surprise her boyfriend on his birthday. Though - she had been… somewhat ghosting him for most of the day with the excuse that her phone died this morning and she didn’t have access to her charger. But what could she say - to surprise the idiot - she needed the element of him not knowing her every move and that was difficult when it was his birthday.
So Instead of face timing him - she had been flying back out to the city and planning a birthday party for the idiot with the help of his teammates who BETTER bloody know how to keep a secret and keep the dummy busy at practice. She had arrived early that morning and went to work the moment he left in the morning for practice - getting a venue together and having the party planners she had hired start set everything up including an RSVPs from a few of his favorite celebrities, a few football players he liked, and a few others including his parents flying out. What could she say? It was the first birthday of his that they were celebrating as a couple and Jess was going to make the most of it.
And so there she was; smiling as she found 12 of Dorian’s teammates walking into the venue with Dorian’s eyes covered - Dorian obviously complaining. “Come on guys - I honestly don’t want to celebrate this year. Let’s just get some food and chill at my place.”
Jess smiled walking towards the blindfolded man as his teammates stepped away - Dori staying something along the lines of “can I take this off now?”
Jess slowly let her hands meet his face where the blindfold was before wrapping her arms around his neck and bringing his lips down to kiss him. She felt him hesitate instantly, but after a second he pulled his blindfold off and pulled her in tighter against him. She heard people screaming HAPPY BIRTHDAY behind her and pulled away after a second with a smile. “Happy birthday love,” she laughed.
End of Flashback:
It was these moments that made her love Dorian more… just being with him. There was something simplistic about making him smile that made her happy. Perhaps that’s why Dorian always had a way of making it easier for her to calm down.
Opening her eyes, Jess listened as he apologized for not being there for her and she shook her head immediately. “Love… that was never your fault Dorian,” Jess whispered. “I just… I never wanted you to go through what I was going through…” she mumbled. She looked up at him and brought a soft smile at his lips as she saw him trying to do the same for her. She allowed her hand to meet his face and brought her lips to his for a second. “How are you… handling this Dorian… I know… it’s a lot,” she whispered. “And hey… no. You’re feeding me food that’s good… not good for me,” she corrected the man. “No protein shakes,” she continued.
A soft sigh left her lips when he added that he would try his best. “I’ve missed you Dori… I don’t know if I’ve ever actually said this but god I’ve missed you.” she added. “This baby has a pretty amazing father,” she continued. “His eating habits are a little weird, but besides that, he’s a pretty cool dude,” Jess smiled cheekily.
