In an instant the girl suddenly was shoving something into his hand. He looked at the item and his eyes widened. It looked to be a heart of some kind. Maverick had no idea why she would have had that, but based on how freaked out she was, he guessed that it was what she found in her locker from secret Santa. “Here, I’ll just toss it in the trash, and it won’t matter what it is.” Maverick glanced around then took it over to throw away in the nearby trash can. Once disposed of, Maverick walked back over to her. “It’s gone, so whatever sick joke that was is taken care of. Any idea why someone would have done that?”
Safiya was making a bit of a face at the sight of the kids on the other side of the hall arguing, it made her a little worried about them but she only looked for a couple of seconds before she heard Zion’s voice behind her. Safiya slammed her locker shut and turned around to face them, turning her frown into a forced smile. “Hey!” She said back in an enthusiastic voice. They asked about her gift and Saf replied, “Yea,” extending her arm out for Zion to see the shiny, charmless thing. “I got this bracelet.” She said with a smile, then paused, pulling it back and holding her arm with that hand to ask, “You?”
He showed no regard to the fact that Elodie became almost as angry as him, for she had no reason to be - apart from the fact that Calen had thrown paper at her, which was nothing compared to his reasoning. A few heads had been turned around them to see what was going on, some surprised as they hadn’t ever seen Elodie confronted and her like this nor had they ever seen Calen confronting, though he didn’t care. But, since she clearly had no idea what he was talking about, Calen calmed down slightly.
Elodie’s eyes read in firm disbelief at the contents of the paper, to which Calen rolled his eyes at how quickly she can make up her mind that he had made it up. “I didn’t do this,” He replied impatiently, but genuinely, though doubtful of whether or not she would trust his word. “This sort of thing would ruin my sister’s life as well as your father’s. Why would I photoshop it?” He questioned. Though he was all for taking down an opponent in their family competition, he wasn’t going to use someone’s father to do that. Well, someone who he went to school with’s father, at least.
When Elodie walked towards the bin, he darted in front of her, catching the paper before it landed at the bottom of the bin. “Yeah, it’s disgusting, but not my doing,” Calen repeated. “If you want to see disgusting you can start by looking up at your family tree.” He added, putting the paper in his pocket, in case he needed to use it in the future.
Kara watched as the guy tossed the thing in the trash. While he was doing that, she took out her phone and looked up an animal heart just to be sure. It looked exactly like the thing. Her face turned into disgust.
“It’s gone, so whatever sick joke that was is taken care of. Any idea why someone would have done that?”
“Oh, look what else was in my locker.” She went to her locker and took out the note. Then she went over to him and held it up to his face.
“It must be a task or someone here really hates me.”
As he began to reply to her, Delilah’s head jolted back and her eyebrows raised to see the genuinely worried expression that was not very well hidden on his face from the opposite side of the corridor. Daniel Parker actually being concerned about something? She never thought she’d see that day. But seeing him had definitely made things worse for her. Before seeing him, not one part of her believed the gift was for a serious reason. Now, there was perhaps a flicker of doubt.
“It doesn’t mean anything,” Delilah replied simply, emphasising each word by talking slowly and unintentionally reassuringly. “Blue Royalty probably did it because I’m clearly the only girl in this school who’s not a virgin, and they couldn’t think of anything else to do.”
Delilah sighed as he seemed to remain unconvinced by what she was saying. “I don’t need to use it because I would like to think we both know what would happen. What wouldn’t happen.” She said, continuing to speak vaguely about it as there were several people around them that would jump to conclusions and tell everyone things that weren’t true - one of the struggles of her being the topic of everyone’s conversations permanently. “So it’s pointless.”
She refused to believe him, or she just refused to believe in what was on that paper. If he didn’t do it someone else had to. It had to be fake. Seeing him catching the paper before she threw it, she wanted to take it back from him but what he said left her speechless for a moment. “Did you just…” Looking at him in disbelief, she whispered taking a step back. He had the courage to insult her family right in front of her and she didn’t know how to react. “Did you just call me… my family disgusting?” This whole situation was something she would usually avoid, something she always wanted to avoid. Arguing with someone and raising her voice at someone was not like her. She was sensitive, something like this could easily make her cry. Crossing her arms, she looked away from him trying hard to control her emotions at that moment.
“Throw it away, please,” avoiding meeting his eyes, she murmured playing with the sleeves of her cardigan. As much as she wanted to think that was fake she couldn’t help but feel disappointed, angry… heartbroken. She was wrong to think Calen would do that, it was his sister after all but could she really trust him? She didn’t know him and maybe it was a way for him to get something from them for some twisted reason. But it didn’t seem like that judging by his reactions. “And I’m sorry,” referring to her previous accusation, she whispered taking a deep breath in. “Just please throw it away.” With a shaky voice and watery eyes, she quickly added looking back at him and realising what this could lead to. Calen was complaining about his sister’s life getting ruined but what was she supposed to say?
Candice watched - in the midst of getting ready - as Dominic was completely distracted by his phone. There was no doubt in Candice’s mind that the man likely had multiple notifications, due in part because she dragged him around all day yesterday. Candice didn’t even want to look at her own phone to see all of the ones she personally had. “Let me guess - your parents?” Candice questioned, a look of slight regret passing her features as she knew that it was her fault that his phone was blowing up. “I’m sorry,” Candice stated - before following the man towards the door of the building.
“You know, it’s the last day before the winter break. Do you have any plans for the break?”
“You mean besides being dragged along with my mother to charity functions, fashion shows, and auditions? Nope - besides that I’m free as a bird,” Candice said - a hint sarcasm dripping from her voice. “I honestly wish I had a moment to just… relax. But… my mom said she may let me visit my dad for a week… so I’m… hopeful,” Candice replied honestly - following close behind as they rode the elevator down the 100 story building.
As they exited the elevator, Candice smiled at the man - “What about you Mr. Hot shot. I heard there was a joint project in the works with your father’s new line. Will you be working on that during the break?” Candice questioned as she reached the car - heading towards the passenger seat.
Calen ran his tongue over his teeth, nodding as Elodie asked if he called her family disgusting. “If the shoe fits,” Calen replied slowly, leaning forward, raising his eyebrows after the last word to see her reaction. Despite her distressed face, he didn’t feel to much remorse. That was because if the receipts were real, and he believed they were, then it would be true that someone in the DeLoughrey family tree was, in fact, disgusting. And if it were true, Elodie needed to know, instead of living in denial.
Then Calen took a few steps back, now equipped with the proof of the interaction between the two families. He kept his hand in his pocket, clutching onto it with uncertainty as Elodie stood in front of him, her anger seemingly turned to sadness, begging for the paper to be disposed of. Calen hesitated for a while, thinking of what to do, his method of stalling being looking around at the people that were facing them.
There was nothing he had specifically planned out to do with the receipts after confronting a DeLoughrey. “Throwing it away won’t make it go away. It can still be found. On your father’s, my sister’s… and whoever sent it to me’s phone,” Calen said, almost as a warning, while he leaned across her to throw the paper in the bin. He knew that Georgina never deleted her messages, even when she probably should, and Calen could easily get them back. But right now he didn’t need them, and it wasn’t worth keeping it in protest.
Maverick took the note out of her hand when she held it up to his face. “Someone hates you either way. Even if it was a task, someone still had to come up with the idea and go through with it.” Maverick shrugged slightly, passing the note back to her. “That was beyond just doing something with no reason behind it. You might want to think about who has an issue with you.” Someone may have done that just for a task, but the person who gave it definitely had an issue with her. Even if someone else had come up with specific instructions on what to give, it still took a different mindset to actually go through with that. An animal heart and a note saying to drop out was extreme.

Zion jumped, startled by the locker slamming. They quickly regained their composure, smiling as she showed them the bracelet, glad that she liked it. “That’s a really cute bracelet!” They told her, not wanting to let on that it was them just yet. “I got 20 bucks, which is cool. I can use it to get some new baking supplies. Who do you think your person was?” They asked, curious to see what her answer would be.
“Thanks!” She smiled, “I loved it.” she said, making sure to be appreciative. Zion said they got twenty bucks which made Safiya laugh slightly in response. The way they said it was just funny she couldn’t explain it. “Ooh,” She let go of her arm, “I know what to getcha next year.” Safiya winked playfully. When Zion asked who she thought her person was, Safiya didn’t react, but she got a little bit suspicious. “Why do you ask?” She asked them mischievously, raising her brow a little bit. She was wondering who got her, she had figured that it was probably someone who knew her well, she has a thing for sentimental things and her gift was perfect, but then again it’s a pretty basic kind of bracelet so who knows. She was also curious who the dud who got a wad of cash for Zion was, it was low key not putting in an effort. It was just on the safe side to be honest. Which, if it had happened to Safiya she wouldn’t bat an eye but she just wanted to see people as happy as she was when she opened her own gift. @Caticorn
i rlly like rping w you
This was probably the first time she wished Dorian was somewhere around to jump in and rescue her. And Calen was lucky she was the one passing by him when he found that paper. If he got the wrong twin things wouldn’t end well. She was always the one keeping her mouth shout, letting other people defend her. She was just always too nice for that but if she could, she would tell him the exact same thing. If you want to see disgusting you can start by looking up at your family tree. Her father wasn’t the only doing doing the wrong thing.
“I don’t know why you’re attacking me, I didn’t ask for this to happen.” Managing to say it calmly, she looked away slightly relieved he did what she asked him to do. But he was right, whoever put that paper in his locker could easily do it again. It was scary to think someone knew about it, that terrible thing she still couldn’t fully comprehend. “Just don’t mention it to anyone. Especially not Dorian,” griping her bag, she looked around them hoping no one heard what they were talking about. She couldn’t imagine what he would do if he knew about it, she didn’t even want to imagine that. “You’re really bad at making good first impressions,” noticing some eyes were on them, she looking back at him trying to put on a convincing smile. “Now don’t dig and don’t come near me again, ok?”
“Sorta. My mother decided that she suddenly cares about my wellbeing. Dad just wanted to know where I was. As long as I’m safe he doesn’t care.” He told her, looking her in the eyes as she apologized. “Don’t apologize. I had fun with you last night.” He smiled to comfort her and let her know that he didn’t blame her for anything.
He let a small smile appear on his face as he picked up on the amount of sarcasm in her voice, knowing full well that he could relate to her in that regard. “I get what you mean. I have to attend a few Star Cosmetics events which I am not looking forward to.” He admitted as they rode down in the elevator. “It’s cool that she might let you visit your dad though.”
He followed her out of the elevator, not able to stop himself from laughing as she called him ‘Mr. Hot shot’. “Probably. It’s hard to work on it when my mother’s home because if she found out I was modelling for my dad I’d be a dead man.” He half-joked as he got into the driver’s seat of the car, putting the school’s address into the GPS as he started the car.
Mamoud got his secret santa, that he didn’t really know, alcohol as a gift. It was kinda weird for him since they didn’t even really know eachother, but during the holidays, he understands that we need it. Seeing family- Oh my god, he didn’t like it. Safiya tried to make everything be a dream world but a dream world was just not what she was dealt. Holidays at Mamoud’s house were always chaotic. And yes, that’s like an everyone thing, but Safiya made them feel awful for not being perfect. Well, Mamoud was kind of okay, he’s an earth sign, he doesn’t need to feel that much. But she just made it pure agony with her false hope and all of those dreams that Mamoud wishes could come true, and the wishes on stars that his sister makes knowing will probably never be granted deep down. She wasn’t even trying, that’s the worst part. Mamoud really needed a bl*nt.
Anyway, he got the gift when he was feeling like a bit of a gangsta after pulling that good kush, I know, Mamoud? ouid? Why are we not surprised. So anyway, he managed to convince the sales lady that he was an elderly man with a really good skin care routine and headed out to blow smoke clouds out of his window. Not too many tho, we gotta be gentle with the winter break stash. He didn’t want to bring it on vacation, that A. felt like a waste because he was already escaped from home, and B. Blue Royalty kids are no fun to get h!gh with. Although who knows, maybe they’d dig it, Mamoud shall see later on.
Today he showed up in the halls with bags under his eyes, but hey, at least he was getting a gift for coming here. He walked over to his locker, taking smarties wrapper that he had in his unoccupied fist and holding it between his teeth like a partner dancer would a rose. Because he was a man, it was weirdly kinda s3xy. Anyway, he put the locker code in, opened the door gently, and there it was, a scarf. Mamoud wasn’t the most fashionable motherf*cker, but he certainly didn’t care. He swung it over his head and wrapped it around his neck like he was narrating a book to a camera that followed him around lemony snicket style. He normally would have left it there, but today he was just feeling a bit more serene. At peace, having found his center if you will.
Kara listened to the guys reasoning on why getting this note was wrong. She never really thought about the person who was actually giving everyone the tasks.
“Whoever’s doing this is a turd, and why hasn’t the person who put this in my locker came and explained it.” She turned around and sarcastically yelled out. “Hey, I GOT AN ANIMAL HEART IN MY LOCKER! I GOT SCARED ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!” She was really angry, wondering what could happen next to her. She took a deep breath with thoughts rumbling in her brain.
“I bet everyone’s staring at me, but I really don’t care.”
It took Daniel a second to realize what he had done. Within the confines of school, nonetheless; Daniel Parker had shown momentary weakness. Emotion. Though he was only human - err to the ways of lapses in judgement - the man had perfected an image that portrayed he couldn’t be brought down. Not to mention the fact that his lively hood depended on it. After all, Daniel Parker had more than one enemy in close confines and any weakness could portray an invitation to those individuals to pull him down. Of course - his “perfection” was easily pulled away when he was with his friends. Jezebel, for example, had without a doubt seen Daniel in his weakest moments. Though - he trusted her. And trust from Daniel didn’t come easily.
“It doesn’t mean anything… Blue Royalty probably did it because I’m clearly the only girl in school who’s not a virgin…”
Clearing his throat, Daniel understood he had to approach this differently - especially as she went on to convince him that there was no use to use it as she was sure it wouldn’t reveal anything. “Though that may be the case, Delilah, why don’t you humor me. And if you are right - no harm no foul. Maybe I’ll even be convinced to give you your actual christmas present early - and trust me, it’s a good one. Something you’ve been working towards for a long time,” he stated - leaning against the lockers to display a level of nonchalance to any student looking toward their direction.
Hearing that she liked the bracelet made Zion smile even more. They laughed as she said she knew what to get them next year.
“Why do you ask?”
They bit the inside of their to now conceal their smile. “Oh, no reason.” They responded nonchalantly to her question, deciding that they’d hold off on telling her a little longer, just to build the suspense. Am I being overly dramatic? They asked themself, knowing that the answer was definitely yes. They thought for a second about who their person could have been. “Mine was probably one of the guys.” They commented about the cash they’d received. “There’s a few that come to my mind when I think about it.”
A strained smile met her lips as she put a hand on Dominic’s shoulder as a show of support. There was nothing Candice could really say about his mom that would make this situation better - that’s something she knew well. After all, her mother was in a similar way… perhaps that’s why Candice always worked so well with Dom when they were dating. They understood each other. An idea that was only further strengthened when he connected with the obligations the two of them had over break.
“Don’t apologize. I had fun with you last night.”
“Damn it - so you didn’t regret it at all? Not even a little bit? I was hoping to win the bet,” she laughed, nudging the man ever-so-slightly. “It’s fine - I’ll make your life hell the next time around,” Candice whispered - a grin on her lips as the words spilled out of her lips. What was she doing? She was supposed to be distancing herself from him and here she was…
“It’s cool that she might let you visit your dad though.”
“Might being the operative word,” Candice whispered. It wasn’t the first time her mother had promised a visit only to take it away last minute. Though - the girl could hope. In any case, there was only seven months left.
Putting her seat belt on, Candice pulled down the mirror to put her mascara on - more in an attempt to simply make it through the day without it seeming like she had spent the night in an abandoned building. Once she had finished, Candice finally turned her phone on - resulting in her being spammed by hundreds of messages almost instantly. Likely because her mother had apparently gone on her Instagram and posted another post for her new campaign. With a roll of her eyes, Candice looked over at Dom with a smile. “So… I may or may not have your Christmas present in the trunk.” Candice explained - thinking back to all the presents she had put in there last night for her friends.
“I guess you’re going to have to wait and find out who it is and why they did it. There’s gotta be a reason.” Maverick watched as other students nearby turned to look at her as she yelled. He just nodded slightly. “Yeah, everyone’s looking at you.” Maverick threw away the animal heart for her, but there wasn’t much else he could do for her. They didn’t really know each other, so he didn’t even have much of a reason to help her beyond that anyway. “Anyway… if I were you, I’d probably want to clean my locker after finding that. So I’ll leave you to that, or you could come do whatever with me.” Maverick turned to start walking, pausing looking at her to see if she was going to stay or go. He would expect her to want to clean out her locker after having the heart of some animal in there, but he knew there was a possibility that she would just want to step away and want a distraction from being freaked out. It didn’t really effect him, so he didn’t really care either way.
Kara felt a little more sane after yelling out. Yeah, she got a few stares but it was worth it. This was definitely not what she expected to happen this morning.
“Ugh, I guess I could.” She turned around to look at the locker behind her. "Can you clean it for me… just kidding. " She was joking but she really wanted someone to clean it for her. "I think I’m going to wash my hands. Bye mystery guy. " She walked to the bathroom, thinking about how she had to use air fresheners in her locker now. A groan emerged from her throat while putting soap on her hands.
