Calen James Hunter

“Oh, I’m sorry, you’re right, I should have just gone straight to your father,” Calen replied sarcastically, but also with just the right amount of seriousness in his voice, after that was her response to him throwing the paper in the bin like she had asked him to. “Would that have been better for you?” He asked, looking down on her with narrowed eyes, annoyed at how she was turning the conversation onto her and how she was being attacked when she- well, her father- was the one actually in the wrong.

Calen was done following orders from her the minute he threw the paper in the bin and got no decent reaction from Elodie. “And who’s going to stop me from telling Dorian? You?” He asked with folded arms, unconvinced that she could do anything that may cause harm to him. Even if it wasn’t his main reasoning for the somewhat threat towards her, the fact that their father was probably harassing multiple other girls over social media with no consequences made him think he was doing the right thing.

“Right back at you,” He responded to him being bad at first impressions, his impression of her now tainted from the receipts he had seen. “Can I not get a thank you?” Calen asked with raised eyebrows as Elodie turned her back to him, referring back to the fact that he had disposed of the paper as she asked him to.

Delilah Rose Hawthorne

Delilah folded her arms as he seemed to be trying to bribe her into using it with a Christmas present. That wasn’t what made her give in and go along with this, it was the worried face she had seen before. “Fine,” She said, sighing exasperated, feeling as though she had fallen into another one of Blue Royalty’s games somehow by agreeing to it, “If it will put your d*mn mind at ease.” Before Daniel could reply, Delilah turned her back to him, knowing she didn’t have to ask him to wait, and walked through the door to the girl’s bathroom, that she only ever went in to perfect her makeup or hair.

The minutes of waiting for the verdict was spent going back and forth in her head about whether or not it was stupid and fake or something to really worry about. At that point, she was leaning towards the first argument, as it kept her from freaking out. But something like that could never happen to Delilah Hawthorne. Her thoughts were interrupted when her phone timer went off, and she immediately reached for the item.

“Must be broken,” Delilah announced simply to Daniel when she came back after a slightly too long period of time after seeing the result. Though she said it with great confidence, she still looked up at him waiting for an answer to what was almost a question.

Although she probably shouldn’t be, Sadie was excited for the Secret Santa, which was a contrast to Reina - who seemed relatively indifferent towards it. Although she knew that there was probably no limit to what she could see in her locker, she was too busy thinking about the fact that it was her first real involvement in the Blue Royalty competition that she had spent months prior researching. Her first opportunity to get any points, though Sadie was in disbelief of any chance of her getting on the actual list.

While walking down the corridor of the school, Sadie gave sympathetic looks and quick "It’ll be okay"s towards the faces of worry about what would be in their lockers, or distress from finding out what was in their lockers. But, she didn’t let it affect her. Sadie was too excited to be nervous.

She stood in front of her locker, with her eyes shut and took a deep breath before finally opening to see a new item in her locker. Sadie’s face lit up to see a jacket folded on top of her books. Though she knew it was naive to think so, but she couldn’t help her optimistic naturefrom letting her think that the game was being nice to her. Sadie put the jacket on with a smile as she continued to walk down the corridor.

“Hey, Mikel! How was Secret Santa for you?” Sadie asked to someone she had exchanged a few messages with on social media, hoping that he had a good experience like she had.

Tala Garzon

Arriving to the school miraculously early, Tala put up a merry smile as she crossed the halls of Cerulean High. She already had her gift given, and she grew more and more excited the closer she got to her locker. Every Christmas season, her favorite part was the giving and receiving of gifts—her family would use the method of Secret Santa who will “grant” at least one of the things in your wish list. It has always been exciting; what more if she tried it in a more challenging way?

But for some reason, she suddenly got nervous when she stopped in front of her locker. For some reason, her guts told her that what will greet her might do something bad for her. Perhaps it was because it’s her first time doing the latter with new people, or perhaps it was because the activity involved the Blue Royalty. Tala took a deep breath to regain her composure and opened the locker door with no second thoughts.

What she saw immediately made her calmer. It was some kind of white garment—something that didn’t make her worry about something. Unfolding it slightly, she was happy to be gifted something that she’ll probably like. Deciding that she should check it later when she arrives home, she returned it to her locker and was about to get her school things when she noticed something more. Her brows furrowing, she reached for a piece of paper that she anticipated to be with the clothing.

She gasped at the sight of its title. A complaint? Little panic rising from her, her eyes quickly shifted to the name, thinking that this must be some kind of a hoax. She calmed down, seeing that her name wasn’t on any corner of the paper. Silly me. Why would someone… But yet again, her eyes widened in surprise when she recognized the name. She stared at it for more than a moment, moving on to the other parts of the document. She did not know what to exactly feel. Is this true? Is this false? She did not even understand why it was her who needed to see it. Who even sent this?

With a vague hint of worry etched on her face, she decided not to dwell on the paper anymore further. She took the other gift and hid it there as if it was a secret she needed to hide, quickly picking books and closing her locker. She turned to the hallway and noticed a lone girl just a few lockers away from her. An unfamiliar face she was. Not that she knows everyone in the school, but she was almost familiar to everyone’s faces.

“Hey there!” she called, as she walked near the girl, making sure she wasn’t invading her privacy. She seemed bothered by a paper (?) she was holding, only piquing Tala’s curiosity. Although she really wouldn’t want to disturb the girl, she felt the urge to approach her anyway, because why not?

@Littlefeets - I’m really sorry this took like an hour Dx

…so you didn’t regret it at all?

He shook his head. “Nope. Not at all.” He told her, laughing. She promised to make his life hell the next time and he let a small smile appear on his face. “Will you now?” He asked, teasing her a little.

Might being the operative word

He put his hand on her shoulder, returning her comforting gesture from before, knowing that he was doing it for the same reason. He kept one hand on the wheel so that he didn’t run them off the road. He knew that Candice’s mother was no better than his own, but this struck him as particularly evil. “It’s awful that she does that to you.”

So… I may or may not have your Christmas present in the trunk.

He quickly looked over to her, confused, trying to keep part of his gaze on the road. “Wait, what?” He asked, still confused. He started to feel bad, but then remembered he hand something he wanted to give her as well. “I actually have something for you too.” He admitted, slightly sheepish. “I’ll give it to you when we get to school.”

“Fine…If it will put your d!mn mind at ease.”

Daniel let out a breath of relief that he didn’t even know he was holding as he followed the girl - stopping only outside the confines of the bathroom door. Though, now came the internal worry that accompanied a long wait. It was torture - waiting for her to finish and tell him that this was, indeed, a joke. The seconds soon turned into minutes and his worry was festering and growing with every tick of the clock. Though, his face remained emotionless as he scared away girls from entering the bathroom - attempting to give Delilah as much privacy as possible. “Oh Betty - don’t you look gorgeous today. But this bathroom is occupied - mind throwing up in the one next to Henderson’s history room?” he watched as the girl ran off crying and shrugged it off - going back to the cycle of endless waiting.

“Must be broken,”

Daniel’s eyes widened almost instant at the words that escaped her mouth. “I don’t… what does that mean?” Daniel asked - this time, making no effort to hide the fact that he was scared sh*tless. "It was positive? Please tell me it wasn’t positive. Delilah… " Daniel started, unsure of how to proceed with the news. What frustrated him the most was the fact that there was no worry on this girl’s face. “Delilah - tell me you’re f*cking with me. Ha ha - real funny. Was it negative?”

Reina was looking at the note she had found in her locker as she heard a girl’s voice nearby. Reina looked up to see the girl walking towards her. Taking a quick glance around, checking that there wasn’t someone else nearby that she could have been speaking to. Reina smiled at the girl. “Hey. I’m Reina. What’s your name?” Reina still barely knew who any of her classmates were, so there wasn’t much of a reason to not try and get to know her. Reina wasn’t going to hide the paper in her hand. She had questions about it, but she didn’t have a reason to hide it. Reina glanced back to the note one more time, wondering who it could be from, then back to the girl who had approached her. “How did secret Santa go for you? Did you get something you like?” Reina smiled again, hoping that secret Santa had gone well for her. She at least hoped that she wasn’t bringing up something that hadn’t turned out so well.

“Will you now?”

“Cross my heart,” Candice revealed with a laugh as he shared his condolences about her mother. With a sad smile, CC shrugged it off. “I’m used to it,” she stated simply. It was true, it was no longer something Candice would be sad about - especially when she had her own ways of getting things done now-a-days.. even if they weren’t the most thought out plans.

A big smile replaced her features at the confused look on his face. However, it was a tradition for the girl to get a gift for all of her friends and family - and similarly, she had gotten something for Domonic as well. So, Instead of replying to the man - Candice closed her eyes - attempting to get a few more minutes of sleep before arriving at school. At least it was the last day before break, however.

Candice seemed to have fallen asleep on the way of school - seemingly more tired then she had originally let on. Though jolted awake when she felt the car come to a stop. A yawn escaped her lips as she looked towards Dom, “Thanks for driving,” she uttered before opening her passenger seat and then her back trunk - filled with gifts for all her friends. Candice easily found the one for Dom and handed him the wrapped up present. Within the confines of the wrapping paper was a leather sketchbook and inside, Candice had gotten an inscription signed by Gerhard Richter, a famous German artist Candice had the pleasure of meeting through her father. An Inscription that stated:

Inscription in Present

Dear Dominic,
I had the pleasure of meeting your friend Candice who said you were a fan of mine. She told me a little about what you had gone through and asked me if I had any words of wisdom. So for you, I have this. It never gets easier. You will never forget the loss of those you love. You can, however, use the pain you feel in your art and share it with the world piece by piece. So use this book, use a canvas, use any surface you can, and share it. Share a piece of yourself and allow a piece of your lost one to live on as well.

Best, Gerhard Richter

Though, the man had told Candice not to read the inscription herself - so in reality - she had no idea what it said. “Merry (early) Christmas, Dom,” Candice stated - handing him the wrapped gift with a smile.

Daniel was freaking out a lot more than Delilah thought was necessary, maximising the situation more than what it needed to be. It was happening to her too so if she could stay calm, why couldn’t he? “Will you pull yourself together, Daniel?” She asked, firmly, though quieter than the rest of the conversing as some people were already starting to look - which Delilah would normally love. “It’s not that–” big of a deal, she wanted to say. But maybe it was, even if it hadn’t sunk in yet.

“Oh, my God, no,” Delilah finally replied when he asked if it was negative, annoyed that they were going to have to go through the whole ‘you must be joking’ ‘I don’t believe you’ phrase. “It was-” Delilah stopped as she realised what she was about to say. She quickly looked around again, thankfully a few people had continued their own conversations. Delilah leaned back on the locker behind her, to show everyone that their conversation was casual and normal before continuing to say something that was the complete opposite of that. “…- Positive.” She announced, mostly nonchalantly, not looking at him but instead the people around them.

Not reacting to a thing he was saying she just stayed quiet, looking up at him with mix of emotions. Angry at his sarcasm and jokes about going straight to her father, offended by the way he said you when referring to telling Dorian about it but mostly hurt when he returned ‘the compliment’. It was too much for her, if he wanted to go straight to her father she wouldn’t stop him. As much she wanted to prove everyone she was fine on her own and didn’t need people looking out for her she did realize it might not be like that. She didn’t want to know about this, she didn’t want to get dragged into this mess. At least not this way - having someone throwing a paper at her and saying it in the hallway for everyone to hear.

“I’m sorry for reacting the way I did when you attacked me.” Shrugging her shoulders, she tried to stay as composed as possible while feeling uncomfortable with the whole situation and his rude behavior. "You’re acting like I wanted this to happen. So childish…” Quietly commenting more to herself but loud enough for him to hear, she chuckled looking away from him. He obviously didn’t understand how this could impact her whole family and her father’s carrier. What could his sister possibly lose? It was her choice to get involved in it, her choice to get involved with a married man with… a family. She did want to thank him for throwing the paper but then everything hit her and she was slowly starting to panic. This was real. After school she will go back home where her father is and anyone could find that paper now.

“No. You should’ve kept it, someone might find it.” Whispering, she looked back at him. “I- Why did you listen to me?” Raising her voice slightly, she could feel tears slowly forming in her eyes as she walked back to the bin reaching in to take out the paper, not caring if anyone was looking and not paying attention to him. “I have to go to class.” Mumbling, she shoved the paper in her pocket turning and leaving as quickly as she could but walking in the other direction, towards the bathroom.

Tala’s eyes quickly shifted to the paper the girl was holding; she didn’t even seem to bother hiding it from her. Normally, she would ask what it was about, but she was yet a stranger to her and so she thought it would be inappropriate. It didn’t help her get distracted from what she had in her locker either, and for a short matter of seconds, her mind wondered again about the question that lingered in her mind earlier.

She was quick to snap back to the present, arching her brows at the girl who had just introduced herself. “That’s a lovely name, I’m Tala.” she beamed, moving closer to the side of the hallway so that she didn’t block anyone passing by.

When Reina asked about the Secret Santa, the first thing that came to her mind was—of course—the complaint, but there was really no way that she would share it; however, she was fast to disregard it with the thought of her other gift. “I’m actually happy about it. My secret santa got me new clothing,” she answered to Reina’s question. “How about yours?”

Dominic drove away from the building, making sure that he didn’t wake Candice, who’d fallen asleep shortly after he started driving. He managed to avoid any major traffic, arriving at the school with fifteen minutes to spare. He breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that if he’d been late on top of not coming home the previous night, he’d be lucky to ever be let out of the house again.

Thanks for driving,

He looked over, smiling at the girl who was now awake. “No problem.” He told her, turning off the car and getting his backpack out from the backseat. He walked behind the car and was handed a package by Candice. He opened it, in awe of the leather sketchbook. “Wow. This is…amazing. Thank you so much!” He read the inscription on the inside of the cover, written by one of his largest inspirations. “Merry Christmas Candice.” He said, hugging her.

He set down his backpack and delicately placed the sketchbook inside it, exchanging it for his old one. He opened the book and pulled out a small piece of artwork. “I found this in my sketchbook the other day.” He explained, handing it to her. “I made it while we were together, but we broke up before I had the chance to give it to you. I know it’s small, but I hope you like it.”

“Oh, no reason.” Safiya smirked, crossing her arms in a gentle motion. “Okay, Zion.” She teased. Saf didn’t need to hear a confirmation, so she agreed. If that was what they insisted, she shall trust them on it.

“Mine was probably one of the guys.” She laughed, the next thing they said made her laugh harder, looking down at the floor tiles and then back up at Zion, nodding yes. She could also think of a few people that would do that. “C’mon, we’ve gotta get to class.” She fixed her backpack straps over her shoulders and smiled at them. “After you” She gestured politely. “Let’s go” She said nonchalantly, in her easy going manner, as she picked up beside them.

Safiya knew that she had math next. And according to past knowledge stored in the back of her memory, Zion’s class was on the other side of the hallway corner. But she’ll see when they go differing ways when they depart.

Mikel did not have a fun time gift shopping. Shopping, in general, was something he always put off. This was different though, he had to get a gift for someone else not to mention not part of his family either. That was the easiest since his dad just always wanted a good bottle of whiskey and his mom would buy it for herself and pretend to be surprised. Though he went to his favorite thrift shops and found something good. Something that would earn him some points also. Something that would make the receiver happy hopefully too.

Mikel liked the cold. Winter was probably his favorite time of the year. He threw on a sweatshirt and a pair of black jeans before exiting his room and walking to the kitchen. He grabbed a premade cold-brew in the fridge and then went to his car to go to school. He played his music too loud as he drove with the windows completely down and the top of his car off. The cool breeze from the air in the morning hitting his cheeks and turning them a slight color of pink. The lady at the red light next to him glared at him and shook her head which only caused him to laugh a bit to himself.

He rolled his eyes to the cheesy decorations cluttering the halls of the high school as he made his way in and to his locker. His mom would decorate their home, well she would hire someone to do it and it was always white and silver decorations. Very simple but always expensive. He opened the locker and pulled out a thing of chocolates and a card.

Dear Mikel,
Merry Christmas. I hope we get to hang out soon and hope you have an amazing day!
Love, Selena

He wasn’t a huge fan of sweets but it was a cute jester. He read the card and shrugged a little with a small smile. Though she was his exe they were still friends so it was nice. “Hey, Mikel! How was Secret Santa for you?” He heard from behind him and he turned to see a girl. Sadie Monroe. He knew of her but hadn’t really ever talked to her. Seen her on social media though. His finger waved to her and smiled slightly. “Morning, uh fine. You? Like chocolates?" He asked her as he opened the box and fished for a dark chocolate one and then lifted it to offer her one.

Calen James Hunter

Elodie’s apology appeared purposely ingenuine to which Calen rolled his eyes. Though this situation was bad for her and her family, Calen was only focused on his own family. His sister was prone to making mistakes and being naive, perhaps she didn’t realise who she was talking to. But all he could think about now was that if it got out, it could somehow look bad on him. Honestly, the possibility of it ruining Calen’s reputation was more important to him than what it may do to the DeLoughrey household.

“Are you–?” He started, though only a sigh finished, too infuriated and confused to finish the question. Elodie was just pressing him to throw the paper in the bin, and now she had flipped like a switch, now asking why and appearing annoyed at the fact that he did it. “Because you were practically begging me to?” He replied, exasperated, giving up on continuing the conversation - and it seemed she also had when she turned to leave for ‘class’… which actually appeared to be in the bathroom.

“Wow,” He said out loud as she left, unable to comprehend completely what had happened. Calen walked back over to the lockers, officially done with Secret Santa. Stupid idea from Cerulean High, anyway.

Before she approached Mikel, Sadie could see that his gift seemed tame, possibly nice even - though she didn’t get that good of a look. But it made her question what the threat Blue Royalty really posed. She had yet to witness any negative or threatening thing from the game, but Sadie had to force a part of her to think that she just hadn’t gotten that side of the game. Yet.

Mikel looked up from the card in his hand, seemingly elevated from the contents - but Sadie didn’t make any attempts to see what was written, invading his privacy. “Yeah, mine was… pretty good.” Sadie said, creeping around the answer as she was unsure about how it would come across if she had a positive opinion on Blue Royalty. Like Dorian, maybe Mikel could have had a bad experience from the game, or he could even be having one that he’s hiding.

“No, no, I’m okay, thanks,” Sadie replied with a smile, not wanting to take away his Christmas gift. “So do you have any plans for the Winter break?”

“Will you pull yourself together, Daniel?”

Pull himself together? PULL HIMSELF TOGETHER? HOW THE ACTUAL HECK WAS HE SUPPOSED TO PULL HIMSELF TOGETHER WHEN HE KNEW THAT DELILAH WAS QUITE POSSIBLY PREGNANT. Breath, Daniel, Breathe. He thought to himself - narrowing his eyes at the girl as she said that. “How are you so damn calm, Delilah?” Daniel questioned through gritted teeth. Did she not understand what this meant. She was pregnant. 9 months and pop - there was a child in the world that neither Daniel nor Delilah had the capabilities to take care of. Just look at the two of them. F*ck.

“Oh, my God, no.

If there was even a lapse of hope within Daniel, that all disappeared with the simple word that was: “…- Positive.” Okay… was this what a seizure felt like? Because Daniel Parker couldn’t breathe. He physically felt his lungs constricting - not allowing his body to receive any oxygen what so ever. “I can’t… I can’t do this right now,” Daniel stated lowly - sending one final look in her direction before walking away, leaving the girl standing there as his mind clouded with thoughts.

“Merry Christmas Candice,”

A smile reached her lips as he pulled her into a hug - one she returned almost immediately. See… they could do this normal being friends thing. It was easy…ish. She couldn’t help that very smile from growing larger when she saw the sketch Dom handed her - likely created when they were in middle school - the slight degressions easily noticed since Dom had grown as an artist over the past few years. “I love it,” Candice whispered - taking the sketch, and gently placing it in her purse.

“I guess this is where we go our separate ways… thanks for the good day yesterday Dom.. I appreciate it. Maybe we’ll get to do it again one day. Anywayyysss, Have a good break,” she uttered - putting her hand out to grasp the keys still in Dom’s fingers.

Delilah had suppressed any feelings she had initially let out in the bathroom, in fact, at this point she was smiling and giving a short wave to the people behind them, who were watching their every move while Daniel asked her how she was so calm in these situations. “I don’t know, maybe because I know how to handle my emotions?” She replied with a shrug, sounding more of a question as if she was stating the obvious, before finally looking back at the current mess that was Daniel.

When Daniel became obviously a lot more panicked, completely losing the cool image he was perceiving, he started to leave the conversation. “Yeah, sure, be my guest, go,” Delilah replied immediately before he was too far away to hear her. “You get to run away from this.” And he did. Delilah put her hands on her head for a moment when he turned his back on her, unimpressed by the lack of concern towards the one who was actually carrying a baby - mainly because she just liked the conversation topic to be on herself.

As she finally walked away, her focus immediately switched to someone standing in front of their locker whom Delilah had never- and never had the interest of- meeting. But unfortunately, talking to him was completely necessary when she got a closer look at him. “What the h*ll is wrong with you?” She initially asked, having no decency to give him context as to why she was attacking him.

“That scarf that, your not even wearing right, is mine, and it is worth more than your house,” Delilah exclaimed, infuriated by the nerve he had to be wearing it. “And you wearing it completely ruins the appeal of it.”

Mamoud shut his locker firmly, and saw this crazy wh0re who looked like she was in a music video where she killed her husband and this was a big moment for her even though the symbolisms didn’t make any sense coming right at him. Her face was redder than hot chili peppers on a thursday after noon and boy did mamoud not know what was coming.

“What the hll is wrong with you?”* He heard her say. “That scarf that, your not even wearing right, is mine , and it is worth more than your house,” Mamoud looked at her shook, and the whole hallway stepped back to watch.

As a man, you have to have this pride, this loud echo of your footsteps and a deep voice that demands authority. Although not to the point where you are this big giant that sends chills down your spine when you are in his presence that makes you flinch when he comes near you and abuses that voice. During stressful situations, Mamoud is ultra calm. He is fairly new to being a man, and an adult, but when he left home as a child, he wasn’t with his family anymore, he was with strangers, and so his families’ yelling was not what he was dealing with anymore. All of his childhood he had been berated, but outside his house he was not certain that it would be all better soon. So he makes sure to be in line. Not as much as he can, in line.

Step one. Recognize the problem.

His wide eyes snapped back into their relaxed state. “What’s the problem?” He asked, in the calmest voice he could ask, his voice steady like a surgeon’s hands.
