That’s true.

Exactly. That’s what I’m saying.

Yeah we’ll then I’ll explain and drop the subject after that
Essentially Mr. Darcy is the original Anthony Bridgerton. Mr. Darcy is the original grumpy rom-com love interest.

He’s also one of the proudest and richest men coming from Regency era fiction. (That’s the era when Bridgerton takes place) He had an inheritance of 10,000 pounds a year (17 mil. Dollars a year in today’s money) that was like 5% of his money. He had a huge amount of land and a massive palace where he and his sister lived, and his aunt owned a full patronage, meaning almost like a whole little town with a church

And with all that money and power, he had no title.

Yet he was PROUD as the day is long. Why would he be so prideful and think he’s above everybody if having no title = being common

Woah. Ok٫ he’s definitely not a commoner.

This is what im saying
The ton is shallow and thinks titles = wealth/superiority
Someone could have more land/money and no title and be seen as beneath someone with a title with significantly less

See what I mean. My characters aren’t commoners either, and it feels insulting to be called that when they’re very rich and mingling in the same circle as people with titles, especially since titles are something that you can get only by marriage or birth and sometimes not even that.

Yeah, but the ones who have wealth, fortune, education AND land, even though they’re seen as less good because the lack of title, are very far from commoners.

It feels like you insulted my characters

It’d be the same as if I looked at Edward being a German and saying that he’s like dirt underneath Bainbridge’s shoes because he’s a foreigner

It wasn’t my intent.

Who? Edgar?

Yeah Edgar, I’ve been away a while and couldn’t open the Face when I wrote that

Yeah, I suppose you wouldn’t want to call somebody a commoner out of the blue if you thought it was insulting

Ah. And I mean, title appears to be everything, no matter how much money you have. Even if the person who gave you that title is long dead.

Yeah, maybe in this RP, but not in the Regency era or in Period dramas

That’s one of the reasons I left this RP, but forgot.
Because the world in this RP conflicted a lot with my own perception of the Regency era and period dramas and Bridgerton, and my own love of research for certain roles and stuff

Sounds good!

Have you ever watched Bridgerton?

Bc we’re more going off of the show, not historical accuracy
