Bryan Blackwood | Quest Reaction

Bryan hated the fact the prophecy mentioned him specifically, to him quests meant fighting. He hates fighting with a passion. He would rather have Ray go in his place since she is the better fighter out of the 2 of them. That wasn’t going to happen, he would have tried to convince Ajax to let him stay here and send Ray if prophecy’s weren’t good things to mess with.

Bryan hoped he picked the right people to join him on this quest. Quintellla and Arden seemed like the right choices to him. He wasn’t expecting them to be so different. Quintella really pushed him beyond what he is comfortable with at times.

“I will take a large backpack. I’m not sure about anything else.” Bryan said feeling sure in his decision. “Fighting really isn’t for me. Maybe not the weapons” he started muttering to himself. "Bows and arrows? No I’m not a good shot. Sword or dagger, probably not " Bryan started to talk more to himself again. After a while Bryan randomly shouted “ambrosia” Bryan had finally picked his 2 items.

Arden Mae Marino
Quest Reaction + Selection

At first, she had been shocked that Bryan would choose her. She was unsure how she could possibly fit in the prophecy enough so to go with him, but after learning that his other suggestion was Quintella… Well, neither of them seemed to be big fighters and she could not remember the prophecy in total. So who was she to say that she did not belong? Although wary, she eventually reluctantly agreed and went with him to convince Quintella.
Once her hair had been dyed after a lot of persuasion on Quintella’s part, she could not help but stare briefly. Arden had never been one to put a ton of time into her appearance, so although it was not a huge change, it was still… bizarre. It did not take long for her to get over it, however, reverting back to her normal ‘it doesn’t matter’ attitude in just moments, following Quintella out of the cabin.
When they met with Bryan again, it was getting dark and they stood in the shed, staring at various supplies. Immediately, Arden knew that one item she picked had to be a sword. Although she considered the lighter or flares, she had doubt that the other two would be able to lend much of a hand when fighting. So she grabbed a dagger that could strapped to her side, easy to whip out in a moment’s notice. If needed, she would be able to use both dagger and sword at the same time. Her movements would be a little messy, but if it meant doing more damage, she could sacrifice her overall performance. Meanwhile, Bryan chose the backpack and ambrosia. Seemed alright to her. She did not bother to elaborate on her choices, instead letting each of them see as she picked up a sword and a dagger. “Good choice, Bryan… Okay, Quintella. What are you choosing?” There were a few things that she hoped she may choose, but she decided not to push her. Especially if her decision led them down a poor path. At least this way, she couldn’t be too much at fault if they lacked an important item… right?

Evita Laberi || Arena

After talking to the huntresses, Evita decided to do some training. It took her a while to locate the Greek coliseum. It looked different to the Roman one, but still similar. It was tall and had the signature round shape, once she was in the vicinity, it wasn’t hard to find. Unfortunately she had to ask some people for directions.

A few people were there, Evita expected more. They did kind of face a threat, after all. It should be completely full. But it was good, more space for herself. She hated when the coliseum was too crowded.

After some individual tranlining, a particular guy caught her attention. He had fine technique, but she was sure she was better than him. Evita walked up to the brunet, placing her sword on the floor and leaning onto it. “Who’s your godly parent?” she asked bluntly. “You have strong talent in sword fighting.”

With the serpent that just ambushed the camp, I decided to head to the arena. I stopped by my cabin and ducked under my bed to pull out a long box. I opened the box and was greeted with sharp swords I had hand crafted. I gazed at the shiny weapons and grabbed my favorite. I put the lid back on and slid it back under my bed. I tossed the sword in my hand around a couple of times, swinging it. I accidentally knocked over my alarm clock while doing so, but I tip-toed out of the room and acted like I was never there.

Not many people were in the Greek coliseum which I was grateful for. I always felt like I was being judged on my technique when there were a lot of people in there. I glanced at my sword and noticed how dull it was looking so I quickly sharpened it and then took a position.

I imagined the serpent standing in front of me, with it’s mischievous, deep laugh that sent chills down my spine. I eyed the imaginary snake and took quick swings at it, as if it was a real fight with it dodging and weaving. I was startled by a feminine voice.

I jumped and turned around. She had a confident stance and got straight to the point asking who my godly parent was. No hello or nothing? I thought to myself. “Oh… uh.” I said staring at the ground. I looked back up at her “Thanks. My dad’s Hephaestus so pretty good at metal work and swordsmanship.” I held my open hand out. “Connor Beckett.” I gave a smile.

Kaylen rolled her eyes, realizing that the situation was hopeless. “Alright Molly. Fine. You don’t have to treat me like your sister. Just, don’t push me away.” She pleaded, hoping that Molly would take it into consideration. “If you don’t want me to act like your sister, at least let me be your friend. You’d be surprised how much better it makes living here.”

Evita Laberi || Arena

Evita seemed to have startled the guy, which she found amusing. It was weak, but she couldn’t deny the amusing part. He should be prepared for someone to come to him, especially in a public place like the coloseum.

Evita wasn’t complimenting him, she was stating facts. But okay, something as simple flattered him. “You still could work on your focus, you know,” she pointed out. “If your hits were stronger you’d ace it.”

“Hephaestus…” she thought out loud. After he described him further, it was clearer to Evita. “Vulcan,” she nodded. “I’m assuming you make weaponry for the campers. Would you mind making me some?”

Evita gazed at his extended arm. She didn’t like shaking hands. In fact, she hated it. Random contact with people you just met, it made no sense. She ignored the hand and looked back at him. “Evita Laberi,” she introduced herself.

I shuddered when she said sister. I shrugged my shoulders taking her comment into consideration. I sighed and agreed to a compromise. I’ll try to befriend her, however I make no promises. Life had been perfectly fine without friends so how it would be made easier, I didn’t know. It wasn’t like I’d be here much longer. “Fine, whatever…” I spoke under my breath, running my fingers through my brunette hair. “Any questions for me- since you want to be friends and all?”

The girl had a snobby attitude which I didn’t enjoy. I didn’t like being around people who thought they were the top of the foodchain, but I knew under that hard shell she was a kind person. At least- I assumed.

She gave me constructive criticism which hurt in the moment but would be useful for the long run. “I’ll work harder on that.” I replied. She informed me on her godly parent which I was unfamiliar with, but it did tell me she wasn’t a greek descendant.

Some campers didn’t trust my abilities, so I only made weaponry for a select few, but none the less I accepted. “Sure, just give me a day or two.” I closed my hand and frowned embarrassed after she refused to shake it. Maybe it’s a sanitary thing?

“How about a quick match?” I referred towards her sword.

Ace Fukuhara

“Uh, yes you are.” Ace replied with a cheeky smile. “Because if you don’t then you can’t leave. It’s a lose-lose situation.” Ace hoped to god that Austin wouldn’t try to wrestle him out of the way. He wasn’t good at fighting, but he was confident in his strength to hold a door down. Ace glanced around and reached for the box of beers. He took two and popped one open.

“Better get to it or we won’t leave here. You might have to sleep here, and who knows what will happen then?” Ace smirked as he made the very suggestive joke. He gulped down both of the beers he took, and then took two more.

He couldn’t hold me hostage here. I have my rights! Can I name them? No- but I have them! In case another earthquake or whatever happened I was not going to be locked in a cabin. I wanted to be in the action, see people squirm and struggle under a powerful fist.

I felt a lump in the back of my throat. I shrugged off the idea of sleeping in here and rolled my eyes. I gave a sarcastic smile “Got any trash bags?”

“Now that’s the spirit Austie!” Ace decided if they were going to stay here, he might as well make him mad a bit, starting with giving him an annoying nickname. “The trash bags are over here to my right.” Ace pointed and took a sip of beer.

As Austin went for the trash bags, Ace spotted something under his bed. Were they…bottles? Ace grabbed it, and turned it around. “Vodka!” He squealed with happiness as he first finished the beer he had, and then popped the bottle of vodka open. “That’s where it went, I’ll finally feel alive again!” Ace happily sipped on the bottle, determined to be plastered once Austin–no, Austie–was done with his cleaning.

I looked at him with a blank but noticeably angry expression. “Don’t call me that.” I said in a monotone voice. I pulled out a black trashbag opening the edges and flailed it through the air until it was large and puffy. I looked around at the piles of crap and sighed. Where to begin?

Ace was pleased by a bottle of vodka under his bed that’s been there for gods knows how long. I stared at him drinking the bottle and slowly tipped it up so he’d choke, but of course he didn’t and just ended up drinking all of it. I squinted my eyes and threw the bottle into the bag. I walked across the room and started on the empty beer cans.

Kaylen smiled softly to herself, happy that Molly was giving her a chance. “What’s your weapon of choice?” She asked her, seeing as they were on their way to the arena. She figured that she’d find out before they got there so that she’d be prepared. She took a hair tie off her wrist and tied her hair into a high ponytail. “I prefer hand to hand combat, but weapon-wise, I prefer swords.”

Quest - Arden, Bryan, Quintella

~ Chapter Two ~

Quintella didn’t bother responding to Arden and surveyed picking up anything. She didn’t need to pick up the dramachas, she could charmspeak anyone into giving her what she wanted (+1 defense and +1 offense), Arden had selected a sword and dagger (+2 Offense) and Bryan had chosen a backpack and ambrosia. (+2 Defense) she looked at the selection and decided on the rope and dagger (+1 offense)

“Okay, so,” Quintella looked around and tapped her hat before saying, “We should probably get going.”

“Yeah…” Bryan replied as they looked around the shed before leaving it behind. A silver mic on the wall glinted in the sunlight and beeped several times before quieting.

Leaving Camp Half-Blood was easy for Quintella and Arden, they had never lived there, Quintella’s home was Camp Jupiter and Arden’s was Valhalla. Meanwhile, Bryan, the greek demigod had spent much of his time on Camp Half-Blood’s beautiful hills. Or, used to be beautiful, the grass had yellowed as most of their time was spent tending to the vegetation. “Los Angeles here I come,” Bryan murmured to himself shouldering the backpack as they ran through the woods, tree branches stuck out and pointy rocks threatened to end them but they ran through it quickly, looking behind each other every few seconds because you never knew what was lurking in the woods.

It took hours of mainly walking and some running until they reached the closest, town, and it was nightful now. Quintella looked around the town, luckily they all had made it through the town although they were extremely tired. Quintella pointed at a hotel up ahead, she opened up a map that they found in Bryan’s backpack (+Map). The hotel was circled in blue and many stars, or was that snowflakes were drawn around it. They had no idea what it mean’t but hopefully something good.

“So are we going to the hotel or not?” Asked Arden, doubled over out of breath, irritated and tired.

“I don’t know,” Quintella looked at her two partners. “Should we?”

Decide if your character wants to go to the hotel for the night. Majority wins.

“I think of it as pity, but afterall, when have I ever needed anybody?” She remarked, with quite a smile. If she was being honest, she never liked asking for help, nor did she like constructive criticism. She could never take it well, it was one of her known flaws. “When you’ve been through a lot of things, you start to notice a lot of things.” Her smile faded away as she thought of what type of people could be here, she didn’t trust this school’s staff, it seemed a bit too weird, and the fact that a student was one of them didn’t make sense. He seemed a bit shaken up, he looked caught up in his thoughts. “Must be making scenarios, huh?” She looked at him with a grin.

“Oh wow, you know this advice I will take really deeply, you should honestly become a preacher.” She gasped sort of playfully with a hint of sarcasm in her words. Truth be told, she was actually liking his advice and support.

The fact that Holden was trying to reassure made her somewhat happy, it surprised her how comforting he was, even to a person who he just met. “Thanks, stranger that I just happen to know the name of.” She knew that she shouldn’t be joking at this moment but it was her way of dealing with things like this. “Well, it’s glad to know that you were down to help. But what do you think the prophecy could mean?”

“Cool. Any specific type of sword, or just swords in general?” She asked curious. She knew that it wasn’t much, but she hoped that it was a start. Sensing Molly’s disinterest, she thought up something else to talk about. “Okay, never mind that last question. Let’s talk about something different. Is there anyone here that’s caught your eye?” She asked, not believing what just came out of her mouth.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I figured she’d be better at this. I didn’t want to discuss what’s better celestial bronze or iron. I stopped walking and turned around towards Kaylen. This was the TYPE of question I was looking for, but not this specific question. “I’m currently worried on dying, not my next boyfriend.” I was a little annoyed with her, but… she was trying her best, and it was unfair for me to be rude. “Look I’m sorry but… I’m just not comfortable with having another sibling.”

Bryan was exhausted and was happy that they had found a hotel that they could sleep in. He hated sleeping out in the cold. It had been a while since he slept rough, to Bryan the thought of doing it again wasn’t something he wanted to think about right now. “I think we should go to the Hotel. Bryan peaked over Quintella’s shoulder to see the blue circle and the stars/snowflakes. “What do you think, Arden?” Bryan asked. He was now wondering what was with the circle and the snowflakes. From what he heard about quests and the gods not everything is at it seemed.

“I do want to gain your trust, but even without that, what kind of person would I be to let these flames continue? But, these cabins are probably toast by now.” He remarked, he saw her turning towards one of the cabins and decided that he was going to go with her, since he just arrived it would be best if he discovered this place before getting comfortable.

“Hmm, seems fun. Count me in, but exactly against who?” She seemed intrigued, which only made Aurelio more too. He usually wasn’t the type to do these things, since he never really thought of practicing, nor going to things surrounding arena’s. Violence wasn’t his thing, but he trusted her.

“They can be salvaged.” I referred to the cabins. Through all the sh*t camp half blood has been through the cabins have continued to stand, never once to crumbled under pressure. “Why do you care so much about my trust?” I asked scoffing quietly.

I chuckled. “Against me… it’s not fun.” I smiled. It was always funny to see fresh meat confused on how things work, thinking surviving would be a piece of cake.

I didn’t understood why he decided to stick around or why he liked talking to me so much. People usually avoided me, because I’m too serious or whatever. It was a change of pace that was unusual, but in a good way.
