“All right, Destiny it is then.” He said. He preffered calling her Ms. Miller but he understood why she wouldn’t like it, being a teacher and being called that by her students and coworkers. That’s why he doesn’t like being called by his actual last name, but then again there’s another reason for that.
As she started her story he listened intently, knowiing from her previous story she had at least a few interesting and fun tales from her life. As soon as he noticed her distress he walked up behind her slowly and placed a hand on her shoulder trying to make her feel less so. He wanted to let her finish and only than comfort her, but she said something else when she finished.
“That’s all right. I don’t mind your stories, probably because you lead an intersting life.” He said before turning her around slowly to face him and said. "But about the story … " He was about to call her Ms. Miller again but he caught himself. “Destiny, it’s not your fault this happened. You had no idea about your powers before. When you realize that you did something bad but not on purpose shouldn’t be something to make you feel guilty, you’ll be one step towards how I feel when working for the army. And we know what we’re doing, but we tell ourselves many things and don’t feel too much guilt. Like I used to tell myself that it’s kill or be killed in this profession and I also told myself that the people on the other side are the bad guys and I’m the good guy … but truth be told the second one isn’t true … And somehow, I didn’t need to tell myself that anymore … I just stopped feeling guilty for them … for all of them. Does … does that make me heartless?”
