Yes. I hate doing stuff with my family. They always wanna come because I am autistic . But literally we where at Harry Potter festival in the city we live in and they stop to look at clothes they Can look at any other Day.

And instead of me who wanted something fast to Eat like MacD we endes up spending an hour at a resturant. The festival was only to five and there was so much to look at its one of the biggest there is

I always hate family gatherings & meetings. Like atm I’m not looking forward to my brother’s wedding because I would know that I may be forced to wear clothing I don’t feel comfortable in wearing.

I was doing a little research into autism in general for my own reasons that I’m not at liberty to discuss either. The main things that tend to annoy me are the conflations people on the internet often make that have been covered here. Autism has nothing to do with a person’s political stance, one way or the other. And the fact that it’s being used as an insult these days, and more importantly, that it’s being treated like a disease is frankly ludicrous.

That aside, the gender divide in regards to autism is an interesting one. In my research I stumbled upon a couple articles here and there that kinda go into the gender divide. People take it way out of proportion and say that autism is a men’s rights issue, when it’s really not. A lot of studies show autism affects women just as much as men, just in different ways a lot of the time. It’s also harder to diagnose.

That’s the interesting part. I read a fun paper that brought forward the idea that the reason it’s difficult to diagnose in women is because a lot of the symptoms are more commonly associated not with “”“feminine”“” traits, or even common traits in women. But societal expectations and Perceptions of women and how they’re somehow supposed to act. It was an interesting read, as are most papers that discuss the idea of personhood in general being societal. It’s interesting

  • I don’t like how some people treat autism like it’s a disease.
  • Nobody can “look” autistic.
  • Just because somebody’s autistic, doesn’t mean they’re dumb.
  • Vaccination does not cause autism. And what’s so wrong with being autistic?

Another bullshit I’ve came across is this one…“But you’ve got a university degree. You can’t be autistic!”

I am pretty sure that there are autistic people with a university degree.

Wtf…

No joke. I once told this guy I used to be friends with that I have been diagnosed with autism and he was like, “But you got a university degree, you’re not autistic.” I was of course offended over that. I really wish I didn’t go to university but I was forced by parents to go (this is such an Asian parent thing :face_vomiting:).

There isn’t anything special about university as I had a miserable time there!

Sorry for ranting! It’s just that university given me these terrible memories.

It’s ok. :orange_heart:

What does being autistic have to do with university, though? Some people…:woman_facepalming::man_facepalming:

Tell me about it! University isn’t for everyone.

I find it stupid that people think autistic people shouldn’t go to university when there are a lot of them that do go to university. Guess this justified why I was the most notorious student in class because my views on certain things were different towards other students.

There was this one episode story I read where they portrayed autism as something that made someone act like they were a dumb five year old.

I doubt it was accurate but I honestly don’t know so if someone could clear that up it would be appreciated

No, being autistic doesn’t make you a five year old.

Although there are different types of autism: high-functioning, low-functioning, etc.

That’s what I thought but I’d never really looked into it until I read this story, and thats how they said it was so it really confused my :robot::disappointed_relieved::revolving_hearts:
