When people assume you’re stupid or strange somehow because you’re an Aspie.

Exactly.

Or when your dad is convinced there’s no chance you have autism. Despite mental illness running through his family.

What even annoys me is that there are people out there victim blaming autistic people like saying stupid stuff like “You’ve been sexually assault? Be grateful that they were into you!” Dafuuq!!! No no no and no! Why should I be grateful about that? I’d be more grateful if the distant relatives that sexually assaulted me got murdered so I wouldn’t have to deal with these nightmares.

Yep, I have been victim blamed many times for that. Whether you’re autistic or not, you don’t deserve to be sexually assaulted! I can’t believe some douche thinks that autistic people should get sexually assaulted that they push that sh*t onto them…this makes their pain 10 times worse!

Yes. It really doesn’t help that there are ignorant people out there think we’re weird for that reason

I wasn’t directing at you don’t worry. I was saying that there were idiots that I knew said such ableistic things like “All self-harmers should die” and all these nasty things. College (if you’re from the UK, it’s year 12-13) was awful!

Been hearing crap like this since high school, it’s the least helpful thing in the universe

I know right. I remember back in college, this boy who was in my class was being such a huge d*ck to anyone with a disability it was absolutely sickening! Every time he saw me, he always feel the need to call me “emo/goth girl” just because I happened to be the only person in the class that liked metal music.
