Hanako smiled when Lav took her tray, telling her to go find a table and wave her over. “Sure. Thanks for carrying my tray.” She said, walking off. She scanned the lunch room, before spotting an empty table. She headed over, waving at Lav to signal she’d found a table. Hopefully she’d seen her. She sat down, placing her hands in her lap. She was used to using chopsticks, but she could figure out a fork. Maybe.

As soon as I saw Hanako’s milky hand rise over the sea of people, I started walking carefully towards her. I managed to get both lunches across, withouth anything spilled or ruined in any way and I hope I seemed like a gentleman with her because I do wish she liked me as much as I tried to convince her I liked Theo … maybe even more than that? As I said “Here you go, enjoy.” and she politely expressed her thanks, I smiled happily knowing after today we’d see each other again, but then I noticed her look strangely at her cutlery. She looked confused. “Hanako? Why are you starring all confused at your cutlery?”

Hanako thanked him when Lav handed her the tray. She quirked an eyebrow at the spoon, fork and knife in front of her. Ok…not chopsticks. Lav asked her why she was looking at the cutlery like that, and she chuckled awkwardly. “Um…I stab it with the fork, right? It’s been a while since I used them. I’m more used to using chopsticks and spoons for soup.”

And after saying all that, the girl walked inside the cafeteria, leaving no room for Elias to try and put the blame on her. “Hey, hold on!” he walked after her. Though, was it really her fault? Elias had a hard time believing that too, however, he had a harder time admitting he was in the wrong.

“Why am I the one to blame here?” he asked, after he managed to catch up. “You’re just as much at fault for not looking where you’re going. And what’s with the sudden strangling?” he continued on with his rant, crossing his arms. “You do know that it’s illegal to murder people, right? Or is it suddenly legal in this weird school?”

He was really starting to miss being back home. It was easier to have people follow your command when you have a whole group by your side, but now he was on his own. It’s not that he wasn’t charismatic, but it’s impressive how he even managed to continue being so arrogant after almost being murdered. Any normal person would’ve fled the school by now, but Elias had no choice.

“And I’m not buying you anything. I don’t even have money!”

Leonor was standing in a corner in the hallways, just standing. Why? She didn’t know either. She was thinking about her sibling, Horatio. I miss them so much! Maybe they would like to eat almuerzo (lunch) with me? And then we can pasar tiempo (spend time) together — she started making plans in her head, thinking of everything the both of them can do in an hour. But she didn’t know where they were. Is she in class? But which class? She wasn’t in mine… — she frowned. Or maybe she wasn’t in the classroom. Classes had ended, like, 20 minutes ago. Tal vez (perhaps), they weren’t there — lost in thought, she stood in the hallway for a few more minutes.

Many people passed by her; students, professors, magical creatures, animals, and whatnot, but Leo didn’t notice them. Most didn’t pay attention to her and minded their business. She paid no attention to her surroundings until someone shouted, “Aah!”. She shuddered and dropped her bag that hung around her shoulders. “Aaah!!” she screamed too. A boy approached her, asking, “Did you see that? The biggest bug I’ve ever seen!”. Leo looked around to find that bug. After two seconds or so, she turned back to him, “Uh, yes! It was, uh, huge! The size of my hand!” she exaggerated and held up her hands. She had seen no bug, but she didn’t want to embarrass him by calling him out.

She knelt to pick up the bag that she had dropped on the floor. “It was so scary, right?!” she pretended for a few more minutes before turning to the boy and whispering, “I didn’t see the bug. Where was it?”

Jara honestly preferred this pain over what she’d been thinking over. It was much more manageable than overthinking. Jara figured that if she paid more attention, she’d probably have avoided the injury. She looked towards the boy who offered to give her a ride. “No, I can walk. And can a wheelchair even support the weight of a person on the back? Wouldn’t that throw off the center of gravity for normal wheelchairs?” Jara inquired about the odd offer. “Oh, and I was going to my dorm to huddle up in a blanket. But, I supposed I might as well get free water from the Castleteria and examine the portion sizes for future reference.”

Following the bell’s ringing, Anang packed their books neatly in their bag, making sure they’re arranged in the exact order they used to be. They were arranged by subject and function, and Anang would define that as perfect. Attempting to start a conversation with the student failed, as the teacher shortly came in the classroom and interrupted them. However, all hope wasn’t lost. Anang took out their class schedule, a smile immediately appearing on their face as they saw it was finally lunch time. That would be a perfect opportunity to make friends and relax, if only they had the courage to approach someone.

As they exited to the hallway, they followed the map of the school on their phone. They made sure to save a picture earlier so they’d have an easier time finding their way to the cafeteria. They calculated their time, making sure to take no longer than 3 minutes to get there. That way, Anang would have plenty of time to relax. Their eyes scanned the cafeteria, looking for a spot to sit at. The room was filled with unfamiliar faces, causing Anang to feel a bit anxious, yet excited. Taking a deep breath, they walked over to a seemingly empty table. Maybe someone else would approach them.

Except, when they got there, there seemed to be a boy seated already. From afar, it was hard to see him with the students crowding the room. There was no backing down now, no matter how hard it was to start a conversation. They waved, smiling awkwardly, as they sat down across him, putting their bag on the chair. “Hello, I’m Anang! This seat isn’t taken, right?” If it were, they’d die. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but it accurately represents the embarrassment that would follow. “Sorryyy, I’m kindaaa new to this school… so I didn’t know where to sit and all…” they continued, their tone getting quieter with every word.

“Oh I forgot I read somewhere that the cutlery in most asian countries consits of two tiny sticks. But if you haven’t used forks and knives for a while, it’s okay, the hang of it is easy. Yes tehnically you stab it, but do it a little bit more gentle. Like poking it.” I looked at her meal. “I don’t know the propper etiquette but you’ve only got this small chunks of meat, so you can probably eat them with your hands. Again though, I don’t know if it’s acceptable to do that.”

@Ouijaloveletters

“You don’t have any money?” I said confused “What’s the point of going to a cafeteria where nothing is free if you don’t have any money? What were you planning on drinking water for lunch?” I chuckled as I said this. “And I wasn’t gonna ask you to buy it for me anyways, I have my own money. I was gonna ask you to bring it to me because by pushing me in you were forcing me the possibility of getting recognized by a certain someone I don’t want to be recognized by. I want you to take this money” I gave him 11 gold pieces, which is what I had on me that whole day and I told him “Buy me any food plus a drink, give it to me while I wait on a seat far away from my brother and if you decide to take my money or buy food for yourself with my money and leave, well I’m gonna finish what that other person started. I know somebody else fought with you today because you basically told me … ‘Does everybody want to kill me today’?” I quoted him even though it didn’t seem like the exact things he said, but it’s very simmilar. “And if you bring me back the food I’ll take it as a form of apology and then and only then I’ll apologize to you for the other murder attempt.”

@idiot.exe

“It wasn’t scary, but when I looked up and saw that thing I thought I was gonna get bitten by something poisonous and I didn’t expect it to be there, especially because it was so big, so I yelled out of surprise. It was like a jumpscare to me because I only noticed it for a split second out of the corner of my eye and when I looke at it, it wasn’t what I expected and I got a bit shocked.” I kept talking
“I didn’t see the bug. Where was it?” She whispered.
“You didn’t have to lie for me. I bet if I said to anybody else I saw a huge bug they would be worried about the bug coming back rather than question my sanity for reacting like that. But thanks anyways.” I smiled “Anyways I’m heading for lunch.” I pulled the collar of my turtleneck up after I felt as if she was looking at my neck before asking her “Wanna join me?” To tell the truth I hate eating alone in a place with a lot of people who can look at you. Not because they see you alone and think you’re unhappy like that or bored or want somebody to talk to, but because in my case I feel like everybody stares at me.

The bell rang and Emeka packed their books neatly in his bag. Standing up he arrange his uniform accordingly, he tucked his white shirt inside and arrange his jacket. Chukwuemeka smiled, he looked neat; just as he should. Chukwuemeka thought about what had happened today, the classes he went too, he had learnt a lot. He had not talked to anyone, too busy listen to the teacher talking so he can report back to his father. He had forgotten a few things as sometimes his mind would stray and think of other things.

Emeka made his way to the front of the lunchroom and got himself a pizza, he sat it one of the open spots in the cafeteria and began eating his pizza. He cut one slice and prayed to his father, the pizza burnt as it was offered to his father, till it disappeared. This signaled that his father has accepted the gift, just like he always did. Emeka smiled at this.

Few minutes later, someone walked up to him, Chuwkuemeka looked at the person “Hello, I’m Anang! This seat isn’t taken, right?” Chukwuemeka shook his head, “No. No, it isn’t taken” He told her. “Sorryyy, I’m kindaaa new to this school… so I didn’t know where to sit and all…” Emeka blinked, “I thought everyone was new?”

“Aww!” Star said as she went to comfort the poor girl, “You should be ashamed of yourself.” Moon narrowed her eyes in annoyance, “We should be ashamed. You’re me, too, dumb@ss.” Star blushed, “Oh, right, but still.” Saga then meekly asked if they were friends. Moon deep down kind of felt bad for the poor girl, “Yes, we’re still friends. Come on, let’s go do something.”

Suddenly feeling hungry, Moon decided to send Star to the peach grove to get them something to eat after helping Saga up. Moon then turned and addressed Saga, “Why don’t you pick something for us to do?”

Star walked to the grove of peach trees, she reached up to pick one when she heard a rustling in the branches. “Hello? Who’s there.” After a moment of silence, Star shrugged and picked a couple peaches. “I must be hearing things.” Star said to herself as reached up and picked another peach before nearly having a heart attack. Another monkey was sitting in the branches eating the fruit as well. “Hmm, are you lost little one?” Star asked as she slowly handed one to the monkey.

“Well, you see, I wasn’t aware that the food here wasn’t free!” he crossed his arms, slightly annoyed. “You’d think a school this grand, one where we got a special invitation to attend, would have actual free food.” he then rolled his eyes, checking his pockets for any money he may have. But of course, he left it all in his room. Speaking of which, he hoped that his roommate wouldn’t try to steal anything.

Elias then paused for a second, raising his brow in confusion. “So… Your idea of an apology, is me buying your lunch, because you tried to kill me in the hallway?” Elias might be ignorant sometimes, but this didn’t even make sense to him. But of course, it’s because he misunderstood in his favor once again. “Look, I’ll forgive you, but only if you lend me money. Otherwise, you’ll be in trouble with whoever’s in charge.” he continued, trying to make himself be seen as tough. Thanks to his talking without thinking, the girl already knew he was almost killed once. Now, she probably sees him as some weak guy who can’t even fight a lion. Because, apparently, he thought that fighting a lion would be a piece of cake.

“There is free food in here. The one in your fridge in your dorm. If you’re hungry, go there.” I said annoyed. This effing kid. I kept listening as he whine about him buying me food for my own money. And then he said that it would be for his money? Is he stupid? Like I literally gave him my money as I told him to buy him something, even if he didn’t hear me say it, he would know me giving him my money and then asking him to buy me something implies I want it bought by the money I gave him.
“Oh I see… You’re special! I mean you have a power like everybody else, but that doesn’t help with your brains. I get it. I’ll forgive you, just give me back the money I gave you.” I said. This wasn’t an insult, I genuinles believed he was stupid.

Anang let out a sigh of relief. “I’m so glad it isn’t taken, I wouldn’t want to intrude.” they smiled softly. They reached for their bag, taking out a neatly packed sandwich. They weren’t sure whether or not they’d have to pay for their food, so preparing lunch ahead of time seemed like the best solution. “What’s your name, if you don’t mind me asking?” The introduction seemed to be going good so far.

That’s what extroverts do, right? Asking for other people’s names isn’t weird or anything, or was that too personal of a question? Oh, just stop it already, Anang! As their thoughts were racing, they realized that they’ve been lost in thought for a few seconds, leaving awkward silence between them and the guy sitting across.

“Oh, so everyone is new?” they raised a brow. “I wasn’t aware of that, I guess I should’ve researched more.” Anang spoke, followed by an awkward laugh.

“Hang on a second, there’s food in the dorm fridge?” Elias was genuinely surprised. The dorm was the last place he’d think to check. Then again, he just went there to drop off his stuff, didn’t even stay long enough to meet his roommate. If this girl didn’t want to give him money to get his own food, then he’d have to go beg-- threaten his roommate. The food in the fridge was probably some low quality cheese and almost expired milk anyway.

Then, his eyes widened as he heard the girl speak that he was “special”. What could that have meant? Of course he had a power, but why was there a need to-- Oh, so she’s calling him stupid. Understandable. For a second Elias thought that she might’ve found out his secret. He sighed in relief, because if she had known, his non-existent popularity would be over.

He then handed the money over to the girl. “I really don’t get how you expect anyone to like you, if you’re just gonna order everyone you meet to buy you food.” he rolled his eyes, as if he were any bit likeable.

“I’m so glad it isn’t taken, I wouldn’t want to intrude.” They said smiling gently at him. It wasn’t like Emeka had any friends here yet, so of course the chairs would be free. And Chuwkuemeka didn’t want to send her away, would that be considered an abomination? not helping people in need? or? He would have to ask his father about that after school. “What’s your name, if you don’t mind me asking?” Chuwkuemeka blinked, “Uh, I’m Chuwkuemeka. But you can call me Emeka” He would have said that ‘that’s what my friends call me’ but he didn’t have much friends, being sheltered and trained by his father all his life. Emeka was an abbreviation of chukwuemeka and so people called him Emeka would also not truly be true, as he didn’t meet a lot of people except for the children of other gods his father made him play with.

Emeka coughed. The silence was really uncomfortable , “So uh what’s your name?” He took a bite of his pizza.

“Oh, so everyone is new?” He nodded, as far as he knew. “I wasn’t aware of that, I guess I should’ve researched more.” They spoke, followed by an awkward laugh. “it’s ok, we all make mistakes” He said, though emeka hated making mistakes.

“No … I usually order it to nobodies who put me between a rock and a hard spot but think they have what it takes to act like they’re high above you. Who are your parents anyways? You mentioned them as the reason I should know who you are, but if that’s the reason you think anybody will like you or know who you are you are mistaken. Especially if your parents suck, which they probably do.”
I smiled and said “Oh and just so you know, if nobody brings me food by the end of lunch, the offer still stands.” I looked down at his groin which I promised to knee if he gives me problems, and to be honest he’s one big problem to everybody around him.

Devi was just about to bite into another peach, when a voice startled her. She then proceeded to drop the peach on said person’s head. Oops. She quickly jumped down in front of the person, picking up the peach. The girl asked if she was lost, and Devi shook her head. She shifted back, figuring communication would be easier if she could speak. “Nope. I saw this tree earlier and came here for some quiet. You like peaches too?” She asked with a grin.
