“The nail polish was still wet.” Royal turned his focus to the male version of Tatum, red blood-no, paint, streaking across his cheek. Obviously, his nails were ruined, though they served as a fantastic reminder for Royal to get his done when he could or try painting them himself. Perhaps his roommate could be of assistance. “I don’t know sh-t,” the new girl noted, sighing deeply. She was probably just as confused as Royal, even more so, though definitely more pessimistic. He caught Tatum smirking out of the corner of his eye, and shot her a mischievous smile-“Keep thinking, you’ll never find out anyways,” he teased back at her. In reality, no, he didn’t have powers. The only secrets Royal was keeping, though life-changing, were dark and heavy, much unlike the ability to float. “Really, actually, the honor is all min-” He raised an eyebrow, but unfortunately, the conversation was interrupted again. Which, though disappointing to Royal, made sense when one was in a conversation with three other people.
“Well? Do any of you know me?” The sandy-haired boy asked testily, to which Royal shook his head, eyes wide and lips pressed together. “You were floating, right?” He then demanded of Tatum, who quickly lied, sounding nervous. Royal analyzed the situation as quickly as possible, knowing he’d have little time to react. Tatum had definitely been floating-he and Kiku knew that. And he definitely knew that she did not want this guy to know it. He shook his head, “I’m afraid there’s been a mistake, my friend. Kiku here, was the one floating. They have similar-ish hair to Tatum, so I see the resemblance from afar…” He patted Kiku on the shoulder to signal the one he was talking about. He hoped Kiku wouldn’t be too mad about him throwing them under the bus-however, it wasn’t like he’d said how they were floating. Besides, it seemed that Tatum was in much more dire need of protection at the time. They no longer stood behind him, instead approaching the girl and resting a hand on her back, murmuring to her. Were they taking the other side? Royal wondered, then felt bad for being suspicious of his friend.
“I’m calling Mom and Dad.” The boy announced, pulling out his phone. Royal felt Tatum tense up next to him, and his eyes widened as she lept towards the boy, who stepped out of the way, letting her crash into the dirt. “Someone grab that phone!” She yelled angrily. His first instinct was to help her to her feet again, but after her command, he ran at the blonde, nearly tackling him to the ground as he snatched the phone out of his hand. He didn’t want to hurt him, but he needed that device. Once he had it in his grasp, he tossed it to Kiku, knowing the boy would try to nab it back. “Kiku! Catch!!” Royal crowed. For a split second, he had considered tossing it to the closer black-haired girl, but as she had arrived with the Tatum-lookalike, he sorta was led to believe she was on his side as well. He looked desperately towards Kiku, hoping they could catch the device before slipping and nearly landing on top of Tatum and the boy.
