“I thought I didn’t lie, bunny? What’s with the sudden attack?” Aidene asked him, shaking her head and pretending to be genuinely hurt by his accusations. Ivan frowned. “Don’t act so innocent and then say you aren’t a child,” He mock-scolded her, like a parent. “No, but it does solve most of them.” Aidene said with a small sigh. “Fair,” Ivan chuckled. He wished he could just burn away all of his problems. Instead, his only defense was shape-shifting to a rabbit and scurrying into a small space for cover.

“Yes, blue, always blue.” Ivan shook his head, still clearly in disbelief. “Nope, nope, and no. I don’t know where you get cotton candy, but blue is superior.” Ivan sighed. “Once again, you’ve shown how delusional you are,” He said to her. “Ah, I think they’re pretty similar,” Aidene said, referring to her taste in partners. “Take that as you will.” She was glancing at him in a strange way, one that made his cheeks flush slightly, and his stomach flutter. He didn’t know how to take that was she talking about him?. Most people told Ivan he looked good in black, and even red. But when possible, he preferred not to draw attention to himself, and Red was a pretty bold color. He’d settle for a deep maroon, though.

The old woman-Marigold, pushed the gold coins back in his direction, shaking her head. “There are a few things I have to do. I want to do.” Ivan glanced at the coins, unsure. She was old, and this was probably the only income she made. It didn’t feel right. Aidene had turned away from both Ivan and Marigold, looking at the tents,

Marigold handed them both their snacks. Ivan took his excitedly, not eating yet, as he wanted to wait for Aidene. “If you ever want to talk with me, Aidene, I’m always here.” Ivan didn’t say anything, he felt like he wasn’t meant to be in this conversation. He was getting more confused with each phrase. Aidene looked dumbstruck at Marigold’s words. She scooped up the coins from the counter and placed them in Ivan’s hand. “Keep your money, she doesn’t want it.” Reluctantly, he slipped the money back into his pocket. Then, he turned to the old woman. “Well, then, thank you.” He turned to Aidene. “I’ll cover the next thing. I promise.” Usually, Ivan never kept promises, but this one wouldn’t be hard to keep it was Aidene after all.

She tugged him away from the snack counter and towards a random path. “Old people…” Ivan shook his head, peeling a wisp of his cotton candy off with his fingers. “Yeah…crazy… Did you even know her?” Ivan asked, trying not to sound like he was prying.

Lav finished his food at around the same time Tatiana did. Smiling, she wiped her hands and mouth. Lav made a note about leaving for the bathroom to wash his hands. She nodded at this. While she waited for him to come back, she doodled in the corner of her notebook. After a few minutes, he reappeared behind her shoulder to start writing.

Thank you, this made my day.

Was all Lav said to her comment about the misunderstanding. To this, Tatiana only drew a small smiley face.

Not at all!
I think only male names get carried like that.

Tatiana smiled to herself, and then added, If I were a male is what I meant.

In my case especially.

Tatiana frowned slightly. I’m sorry about that. At least they allowed you to go to this school!

Do you know where my dorm might be? Or even where student rotations are being held at? Basically I’m as lost as Alice and I might get as mad as a hatter.

She laughed at his reference to Alice in Wonderland, then wrote Of course! I can show you there right now, if you want!

“I’m not acting, I’m purely innocent. I’m sorry that you, however, can not say the same.” She replied with a dismissive wave in his direction after he mock-scolded. “Your hat may not agree with that response,” Aidene responded. Some problems, naturally couldn’t be burned away, but of course, she could light it on fire and escape from it. Of course, most of the time, they caught up to her.

“That’s what they called all the greatest minds,” quipped Aidene in her response. He was the delusional one, pink- how, don’t you ever get tired of the weird bubblegum taste. He was flushing again when she looked at him, “The air getting musky again?” Aidene remarked, remebering their earlier conversation. It was kind of cute

“I’ll cover the next thing. I promise.” Aidene smiled slightly, and appreciated his offer. “You don’t have to,” she responded lightly. “Save your own money, I’ve got too much of it anyways.” She usually didn’t like spending money on people, many people she charmed and manipulated were entitled and brats. It was a waste of money, but Ivan wasn’t like that. She appreciated that, which made her not hesitant to pay for their stuff.

Aidene was quiet for a moment and tore off a piece of the cotton candy, “Yeah, long time ago. I was…” she thought for a moment. “8? 9? Yeah, somewhere around then.” She laughed nervously before eating her cotton candy. Although, she really was hoping Ivan wouldn’t probe deeper and would cause her to lie. She didn’t want to lie to Ivan.

She inclined her head towards another booth, “Wishing Booth.” She was curious, did they grant wishes or something? “What do you think that is?” She asked Ivan curiously.

I wanted to answer to all she written but I couldn’t since if I were to do that we would probably keep on talking for hourse on end and take up space in the cafeteria loitering longer than we actually spent eating. When I noticed she finished writing I quickly and gently tap my finger on her shoulder to get her attention so she could look at me since I couldn’t do it vocally. When she looked back I motioned to the door. We took all our stuff, she took her notebook and bag and I took my letter and package. We walked to the door and she opened it. I seemed to get so comfortable with the situation I forgot of my struggle that gretted me the second I steped out of that doorway. There was some sort of a tree, but it was the size of a plant. I’ve never seen such a small tree nor a plant that looks like this. However rare and beautiful it was, it didn’t last long. It soon dried out and I remebered what happen. Since I didn’t think of holding Tatiana’s hand quickly enough, the tree dried up and I felt as guilty as ever. I emmidiately get down on my knees, starring at the pavement and I lied down into a fetal position
As I noticed small sparkling tears going down my cheek, the grass where my eyes were focused on was dying out.

:crossed_swords:Maximilian Krome :crossed_swords: // with Kaden

The fickle thing about time was what merely could change. Maximilian always enjoyed these little surprises, and honestly, it never took that much time to adapt. Simply studying Kaden’s speech pattern, it was easier to lose the 70s speaking style, trading for something more 2010s. Even in that, was the fascinating way how language could change. Accents and speaking styles adapted as new products were introduced to society. Besides, it’s not like he hadn’t taken short breaks for decades at times from the real world.

So he delighted in the use of the magnificent handheld device that could take better-rendered images and allow an artist to not need a canvas everywhere. Kaden’s didn’t seem that annoyed at all the frequent questions even though Maximilian didn’t quite enjoy all the uncertainty. A small price to pay for future knowledge later.

The other strange part was how Kaden also seemed to somehow enjoy the decore of the room. Several times Maximilian had to question the true intent of that statement while also noting that Kaden just tended to be far too nice in the first place. Maximilian slowly tried after his guest, both watching the layout of the area for potential improvement and also Kaden’s reaction. The one distinct difference was the slightly messy style and the mismatched chaos.

He glanced back at the new question. Kaden offering to organize the place was certainly interesting, Maximilian just couldn’t figure out whether if that was a way to help the room layout of his own OCD.

"You can rearrange what you wish, I trust your judgement, " he opted for answering, “the pirate ships could be real. The age of piracy ended in the early nineteenth century, however, the golden age was in the late 1600’s. Those were the best.” Magic was certainly different compared to now, but Maximilian has seen ships bottled that way. The current trend was to recreate those.

Maximilian headed toward the shelf before picking out a few bottles in general before taping at them. In return, only one of them actually appeared to be on moving water.

“There you go. I didn’t know if the magic was still working. If you really want it, you can have it. I have plenty more back at my ship.”

Merthiel could see how Valentina kept herself unbeaten by her, no matter how much she makes faces to intimidate the girl… or she thought to have so, at least. Strawberryhead was quite consistent on being friendly to her. She always have expected people to either walk away from her, or argue with her—which she likes the best. She does like getting into word fights, insulting people from head to toe as well as their name. But to this pinkhead, she made none of the common choices.

Until the unloved word “protection” came, she turned from a friendly strawberry to a defensive pale tomato. Merthiel did not expect her to take on such stance, as if she was ready for whatever violence she might do to her. She was a bit offended. Why do people think like I’m gonna kill them, like, seriously?

“O-On what?” Valentina stuttered, taking a step closer to Merthiel once again. Merthiel rose a thick brow, lifting one corner of her lips as she looked with a hint of slight mischief straight to Valentina’s eyes.

“Defense, of course—what else, right?” she answered with a shrug. “If you hurt me, I’ll hurt you, too. I can’t let that pass.”

“I’m sorry that you, however, can not say the same,” Aidene said, regarding his innocence. “What do you mean! I’m as pure as they come!” Ivan objected, his eyes wide open with mock-offense. The words felt almost bitter in his mouth. “Your hat may not agree with that response.” Ivan scowled, remembering his waste of money. He had only been given a bit of money that was supposed to last him weeks. He might have to skip a few meals to make up for that.

“That’s what they called all the greatest minds,” Aidene quipped. Ivan scoffed. “No, that’s what they called the people they sent to the loony bin. The greatest minds were sensible, like me.” He took another bite of his cotton candy-blue cotton candy. How could anyone like blue more than pink? Pink was sweet, airy… “I’m not even sure if we can be friends after this,” He joked through his chews although he was pretty sure he’d always want to be close with Aidene. “Air getting musky again?” Ivan shook his head, flushing darker. “Nah, not the air…my hearing just…” He nodded towards a bunch of screaming children on a carnival ride.

“You don’t have to. Save your own money, I’ve got too much of it anyways.” She smiled at him. Ivan wanted to agree, he would need to start spending more carefully. Still, he was the son of royalty to her, so of course he’d have plenty money as well. He smiled back, “No, it needs to be fair. Besides, I can afford to get rid of some as well.” He flashed a cocky grin. He wondered what it was like to have too much money. Probably nice.

“Yeah, long time ago. I was… Eight? Nine? Yeah, somewhere around then.” Aidene said after a pause to think. “Really?” Aidene must have a pretty good memory to remember some lady from her childhood… unless this lady had had a deeper impact on her? “Did you meet her at a carnival?” He asked, feeling guilty for prying.

She nodded towards a booth, one that read Wishing Booth. “What do you think that is?” Ivan tilted his head, squinting to see the sign better. He hadn’t heard of a Wishing Booth before. “Maybe it grants wishes?” He asked, getting excited, even though it was probably a scam. He tugged on her sleeve. “Let’s check it out!”

She felt him tap on her shoulder. Turning around, her blue eyes widened as she saw Lav had reappeared behind her. He motioned to the door…did he want to leave? Tatiana stood up, brushing crumbs off her uniform skirt. Pocketing her book, she caught up to him, holding the door on their way out. The two walked out back to the front of the school, still busy as ever. They were immediately greeted by a small potted tree-perhaps a bonsai. Realizing what was about to happen, Tatiana turned to Lav, trying to grab for his hand, but it was too late. The little tree shriveled up, similar to what had happened to her own plant earlier. A few students seemed to snicker, seeing this, and Tatiana shot them a glare. She would have walked over to give them a piece of her mind, but Lav had now curled up on the pavement, seemingly devastated. Tatiana sat next to him, folding her skirt over her knees. The grass below him was slowly turning dry and brown. Was he crying? Frowning, Tatiana put one hand on his back, the other fumbling for her notebook so she could write to him. She placed the small pad on her lap, wondering what to say. She didn’t want to make him feel worse.

Maximilian seemed to be liking Once Upon a Kingdom plenty so far, especially his smartphone. Kaden wished he could explain better, but logic and technology weren’t his strongsuit.

Kaden liked Maximilian’s decor a lot-although it wasn’t quite his style. He was pretty open, willing to learn about and admire anything. Besides, interior design was a type of art, and it was against Kaden’s art-morals to think someone had bad taste just because their tastes didn’t match his.

“You can rearrange what you wish, I trust your judgement.” Maximilian answered. Kaden blushed, ashamed Maximilian had heard his request after all. Slowly, he began to leaf through a few papers, wondering how he should organize them. Date? Topic? He looked over at Maximilian. He didn’t want to ask-he already felt bad enough about asking to re-organize some things. He decided that topic would probably be the most sensible and began to group the papers. There were a lot of blank papers, which he gave their own pile.

“The pirate ships could be real. The age of piracy ended in the early nineteenth century, however the golded age was in the late 1600’s. Those were the best.” Kaden’s eyes widened at this. So much information to take in. “Wow, that’s so cool… I wonder if there’s a way to get them out,” He mused. Not that he wanted to take them out, Maximilian probably wouldn’t need an ancient pirate ship while attending Once Upon a High. Still, it was interesting to wonder. “What was it like in the 1600’s?” He often forgot Maximilian was much older than him-immortal. He had experienced plenty of different eras. Kaden loved the 1600’s, and wanted to know what life there had been like for his friend.

Maximilian came over, tapping at his bottles. Most of the ships had no reaction to this, but one bobbed in the water, as if hit by a gust of wind.

“There you go. I didn’t know if the magic was still working. If you really want it, you can have it. I have plenty more back at my ship.” Kaden’s eyes widened-slightly greedily. “Are you sure?” He asked politely. He really liked the bottle, but he didn’t want to take one of Maximilian’s nicest paperweight. He had came to the dorm to help and hang out, not take things for himself.

She rolled her eyes. He bit his lip-was she already annoyed? “My name is Millicent. Although fair maiden isn’t too bad.” Her voice was tinted with pride-she was obviously proud of who she was. Li Jun wondered if asking who her parent was would be rude. “Er… nice to meet you, Fair Millicent,” he said, settling on a combination between both names. “I’m Li Jun.” He left out his last name on purpose. “It’s the first day. I won’t curse anyone.” Millicent said with a shrug. So she could curse people. “Thank you… I appreciate it very much,” Li Jun said politely, clasping his hands together.

“Yet.” She added slyly, holding out her hand for a handshake. Li Jun gulped. Taking her hand as gently as he could, he gave it a small shake. He wasn’t out of the woods yet.

“Millicent of the Moors.” She had a title after her name-she had come from the Moors? Li Jun had heard of the Moors, a lush, green place full of magic and magical creatures. Although, he had never been. He wondered if she was the daughter of one of the fairies, or princesses… or… maybe even the horned fairy Maleficent? That would explain the cursing. He wouldn’t judge her if Maleficent was her mother, though, his father was a villain as well.

“So, are you a returning student, or fresh and new?” She stared at him with mesmerizing green eyes. Li Jun squirmed around under her judging gaze. “I’m new, are you?” He asked.

She couldn’t give up, there had to be some way to convince Merthiel to be her friend. They had to share at least one interest or hobby… or maybe their parents knew each other? She didn’t recall meeting Merthiel in the past, but it was hard to think when under the blue-haired girl’s stony gaze.

Merthiel now looked offended-Great. Valentina looked up to the sky. Dad, can I give up yet?

“Defense, of course—what else, right?” Merthiel answered with a shrug. “If you hurt me, I’ll hurt you, too. I can’t let that pass.” Valentina practically let out a sigh of relief. So Merthiel was rude, but she wasn’t bloodthirsty. “I wouldn’t hurt you,” She beamed. “I just want to help you out.” She decided it was time to bring up the idea of dating, as that was the reason she had approached Merthiel. Valentina seemed to feel relieved, letting out a sigh, at Merthiel’s answer. She did not expect how innocent the pinkhead was to feel reassured, even for the very least, at her words.

“I wouldn’t hurt you,” Valentina said with a beam. Merthiel crossed her arms, feeling a little bit pleased with her answer—but she wasn’t reassured that would actually never happen. Even the smallest of kids dared hurt her… what more from a stranger who she only had met for a fair count of minutes? “I just want to help you out.”

Merthiel’s thick pair of brows furrowed together, with hints of confusion in her heterochromic eyes of brown and silver. “Help?” she said, assuring. Help me with what?

“Why do you even want to help me?” she asked, “Why… would I even need your help?”

Narrowing her eyes, she stared at Valentina with intent. Merthiel wasn’t certainly the type of person who’d just accept help from anybody else. She had always believed she can do it herself, and no one has even ever offered her help. What kind of help would she be able to offer to Merthiel?

Merthiel crossed her arms, a strange look spreading across her face. Valentina couldn’t tell whether she was unhappy or pleased. Valentina smiled earnestly, trying to convince this girl that she really did mean no harm. She hadn’t meant to confuse her so much-she had never wanted Merthiel to think she wanted to hurt her. Ah, gods… She rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. How had she messed up so badly? I must be a little rusty… Perhaps she had lost some skill over summer break.

Merthiel’s thick brows furrowed together, and she looked confused. “Help?” She repeated. Valentina nodded.

“Why do you even want to help me? Why…would I even need your help?” Merthiel had made it clear she thought of herself superior to Valentina, so she had expected a question like this. “Well, it’s kinda my duty to help you,” She said happily. She didn’t know if Merthiel needed her help, but deep, deep down, she definitely wanted her help.

Her grey-brown eyes stayed on Valentina, cold and narrowed. She didn’t seem open to the idea of help. “I saw the way you looked at those couples.” Valentina nodded lightly towards the couple Merthiel had been glaring at earlier. She looked at Merthiel empathetically. “There’s someone out there for everyone. I can help you find your someone-or at least someone.” She went easy on the smiling, hoping that Merthiel would give in and accept her help.

Valentina was rubbing the back of her head, feeling not confident about something. One second she was beaming, then one second she is awkward. Merthiel did not really care that much, and only ignored Valentina doing that. She wasn’t assuming for something else, like she used to everytime somebody else did that in the past… or maybe this is just an exception, being bothered about something else.

“Well, it’s kinda my duty to help you,” Valentina said happily. As Merthiel stared at her, obviously with no interest, Valentina nodded at a familiar direction of a corner. The couple—who she happened to fire her annoyance at—was still there. “I saw the way you looked at those couples.”

Merthiel rose a brow as Valentina looked at her empathetically. “There’s someone out there for everyone. I can help you find your someone—or at least someone.”

Valentina smiled as Merthiel’s forehead was creasing more. The situation she’s in was becoming ridiculous. Is she assuming… Merthiel scoffed as she shifted her weight, keeping her arms crossed over her chest.

“What are—I mean…” she rubbed a temple of her forehead. “This is ridiculous. You’re thinking… that I have some grudge from that couple?”

She looked up to the darkening sky, then looked at Valentina again. “Strawberrybead, I think you’ve misunderstand.” she said. Looking to the couple again, she mumbled with a low voice. “Who are you even to talk like that’s really your job? Are you Eros or something? Ridiculous.”

:crossed_swords:Maximilian Krome :crossed_swords: // with Kaden

Watching Kaden work with his own decoration style was like trying to decipher some algorithm. It was equally as interesting to guess how the other boy was placing things. After a bit, he understood the blank papers going where they were, but all the other piles were still indecisive. Maybe everyone just had their own way. Then there was the other matter of just having blank pages in the first place. He needed a way to fill them with art of other things. Ideas practically came from everywhere, recreating the images caught with the new camera could work.

“Taking the ships out would be dangerous because we don’t have space here,” Maximilian felt the need to inform, “but there are spells. It’s just been a while and I’m rather rusty on that.” He didn’t need the ships either. He had his own, it was sturdy and it worked. If Kaden wanted to see one, Maximilian could take him tomorrow.

“As for the era, I only hung around because pirates were so popular. The funny thing is that so many Englishmen made it seem like they were the ones conquering the oceans. Most recognizable pirates were in Asia taking the Atlantic and Indian ocean. The East India Company were practically pirates, but just with a fancy name for the sake of exploitation. They ruined everything and pirates stopped being prominent afterwards.” So everything took a rather sad downhill eventually. Not to say that it wasn’t fun initially.

“Who known, maybe if there was a time travel spell,” Maximilian joked. Even then, he was starting to think that somehow, some student could pull it off. After seeing all the cool things he did today, there was no doubt that every spell was possible, but perhaps just not allowed.

It was nice in a way seeing how fascinated Kaden was with history or just pirates in general. There was already much common medial about ruthless individuals who roamed the sea, and while that was true in most parts, the close bond on the ships was also just really nice. The feeling of knowing that your mate would protect you, intimate relationships that stemmed from that. Saying that females weren’t allowed in the ship was really only for pirates that were strongly superstitious (though all pirates were to a certain extent). No one really cared. If a gal could fight, she could join. It almost made Maximilian think what Kaden would do onboard. Probably talk the Spanish authorities into being friends.

“I have plenty of those bottled ships around,” he said, “I really won’t mind if you take one. Besides, I haven’t collected one in a while and a royal brigade would suite nicely with the collection. The last one I got was from the second world war.” And that ship was already impressive, the weapons comparatively to the ones in the 1700s were just amazing. No more wood, all-metal, all engineered with systems running the ship and not sails. Still, there were so many sunk ships during that war that really no one would notice if Maximilian stole a few.

“Even if the ships aren’t real ones,” he rummaged through the shelf, “there all kind of models. You have the classic pirates ships, all wooden. The Japanese pirates had lovely sails, usually with paintings. The ironclad was a big thing in the mid-1900s, and naval warfare just got better from there, albeit pirates were no longer a major thing.” He gestured to all the displayed bottles, “take you to pick. What age of piracy are you the most interested in?”

Amaya Gould

The aroma of cooked eggs and tang of bacon greeted Amaya downstairs. She blinked in surprise, she didn’t think he’d still be here. Especially today. She smoothed her already ironed uniform and took a breath. She fought back a smile before stepping into the kitchen. Good morning. It’s not that hard A. She wouldn’t think about the fact that he always left too early for her to say a proper good morning.
The smile, which had found its way on her face disappeared when she spotted black ink hastily written on a napkin. “Precinct needed me. Eggs on table.” The small, stupid, irrational shred of hope that he would see her off to school died. He wasn’t for her going to Once Upon A High, but she hoped that-- At least he made breakfast… She thought, as she sagged in a chair and ate her breakfast.

Wind tickled her face as she stood before the largest thing she’d ever seen. Her apartment paled in comparison to the castle. Amaya blinked remembering this was supposed to be a school. The morning temporarily forgotten, she bounced forward, a cheeky smile broadening her face. I’m going to live here. In a castle.
She slung her bags over her shoulder and shook her head, a smile still playing across her face. This is not where she imagined she’d ever be.

Lying on the floor I suddenly get up, realising I look eccntrick and weird if I just break out and cry in the middle of the road. After I focus my gaze at the other people instead of plants and animals I notice nobody looked at me as if I was weird, but they did look worried. Must be a hard time here, if they think to worry when somebody does this, but nobody finds it strange. “I’m all right.” I lie to everybody to keep prying eyes away from me. It made me feel weird … like I felt stupid doing those things infront of them and now I’m ashamed. I turn to face Tatiana and look down on her notebook noticing she didn’t write anything. I decided to also let her know I’m all right so that’s what I wrote down. Well a glorified version of it anyways. “It’s all right Tatiana. I know those are not the actions of a sensible man, but you can trust me I’m all right.” I tried to put this experience past me and use it as a reminder to look at the road and not the grass. I motion to her that we should go and I start walking with my face completely turned to face the stone steps.

“No, that’s what they called the people they sent to the loony bin. The greatest minds were sensible, like me.” Aidene snorted and shook her head, “All the greatest people at one point were classified as insane. Don’t worry, I see this as a great omen, and from you no less.” She winked slightly, “I think that may be best,” she nodded mock solemnly at him, although it was accompanied with a slight smile. “I can’t be friends with someone who prefers pink cotton candy over blue.” She took a bite of her own cotton candy and paused and nodded knowingly as he nodded towards the screaming children on a carnival ride. “Mmhm, sure.” She wasn’t sure on what he was blushing (once more) about but she was almost certain it wasn’t from the carnival ride.

“Hmm, if you’re sure,” Aidene shrugged. “I’ll warn you though, I’m an expensive person.” Aidene teased slightly, although it wasn’t quite true. She did like nice things, which happened to be expensive but she was used to living with her mother, so she was used to …cheaper things. Being a child of a god had certainly changed that signficantly however. She could easily obtain most things she wanted at very little expense to her. She almost forgot that Ivan himself was royalty as well, he didn’t quite seem like most royals.

“Yeah, it wasn’t that long ago though,” Aidene replied biting her lip, when you got used to the fact you would live for an extensive time you found that accompanied by a larger memory as well and, besides, that night and all it’s events would’ve been hard too look up. Her chest tightened at the memory, and she stared at her cotton candy as she tried to focus her thoughts into one straight line. Hopefully Ivan didn’t connect the dots, if she left anything to connect…she had spent a lot of time wiping that event from the public’s eyes.“Yes…” Aidene trailed off raising an eyebrow at Ivan. “You’re quite curious aren’t you?” Aidene teased slightly, although it ran with darker tones, she didn’t quite like sharing so much so yet. But it was Ivan, she kind of trusted him.

“Oh, that would be interesting,” Aidene admitted relieved in the change of topics, although there probably was conditions to the wishes. It was lit up, the booth decorated with red and silver. It was most likely just a scam, like that Santa Claus thing at the malls. She allowed him to tug her along to the “Wishing Booth”, although there was a long line that stretched around the booth, chattering with excitement. It took a few moments but they eventually reached the point where they could wait in the long line with - mainly girls,- talking with excitement in their voices and peering over at Ivan, attempting to be inconspicuous.

“All the greatest people at one point were classified as insane. Don’t worry, I see this as a great omen, and from you no less.” Aidene winked at him. Ivan chuckled, quickening his pace so he could stay at her side. “Hm. But should I really trust the way you see things?” He replied, peeling a puff off of the cotton candy stick as he walked. Aidene claimed she wouldn’t want to be friends with anyone who preferred blue cotton candy which was fine because he didn’t want to be just friends. “Hey. I unfriended you first.” He reminded her. She sounded like she didn’t believe him, which was absurd. Of course it was from the ride-children were so annoying, especially screaming ones. He didn’t know how she could be so chill about it.

“I’ll warn you though, I’m an expensive person.” Aidene warned him playfully. Ivan couldn’t relate-except today, apparently. He has spent most of his week’s gold supply and didn’t know how he was going to eat the rest of the week. Still, being with Aidene, having more fun than he’d had in years, it felt right. He wondered how people in relationships could spend so much money on each other all the time. Going out on days like these… wouldn’t it add up? Why was he comparing this to a date anyways? Hanging out and dating were completely different. Doing his best to steer his brain away from the idea, Ivan replied, “I’m sure you’re not even half as expensive as me, princess.”

“Yeah, it wasn’t that long ago, though.” She bit her lip, looking slightly uncomfortable. “Wow… can’t believe she’s still a carnival worker,” Ivan commented, trying to keep the conversation more light. That’s enough prying for now… He sniffed. I guess she really likes selling cotton candy… someone her age would probably have retired by now. He thought to himself, also staring at his cotton candy. There was still plenty left. ”You’re quite the curious one, aren’t you?” Aidene was teasing, although it sounded a bit strange. Ivan decided he should probably back off a bit so she didn’t get too suspicious. “I just want to know more about you,” he said somewhat flirtatiously, then quickly stuffed his mouth full of cotton.

He wondered what the conditions to the wishes were. Either way, for one wish he would do most anything. To see his family’s warm smile again. Or to be free of the agency forever. Or maybe something more simple…that this day would never end. Could any magic even do that? He tugged Aidene to the back of the line, sliding front of two boys who were about to get in line. Most of the people in line were their age, maybe a bit older, and excitedly gossiping. The line was long, but Ivan expected more from a booth that could grant wishes He felt the eyes of the girls in line all over him. “Wow. First the tavern, then this line. Looks like the Once Upon a Kingdom girls are all over me.” He said cockily, although he didn’t meet any of the girls eyes. Then, he inched forward in line a bit. It was moving considerably fast.

“Hm. But should I really trust the way you see things?” Aidene smiled before responding, “My way is the only correct way of seeing.” She’s nodded to the people around them, enjoying their day at the carnival. “The rest of the fools parade around in an illusion.” Aidene shook her head and turned to face him. “Hey,” she repeated before she poked his forehead with her pointer finger. “I did it better.” She informed him, and amused lilt to her voice. Noticing him him having to walk faster, Aidene quickened her pace before raising an eyebrow at him. “How good’s your stamina?”

“I’m sure you’re not even half as expensive as me, princess.” Aidene was surprised at his responses, although he didn’t let it show. And he called her princess, which was a new one… she wasn’t sure how she felt about it. “Is that so?” Aidene asked, tilting her head slightly. She chuckled as she continued to walk, not quite sure on how to respond to that – she didn’t want to test the theory as she didn’t like wasting money on silly things like that. She shrugged as she stuffed another piece of cotton candy into her mouth, “Princess? That’s a new one.”

“I just want to know more about you,” Aidene paused for a moment, surprised at his ansewer. The tips of her ears turned red as she cleared her throat slightly uncomfortable. If she was frank, Ivan was more curious about her history and her life than most people were. In fact, she couldn’t recall the last time someone was actually interested in knowing things about her. Yes, there was the questions for courtesy but no one really cared, which oftentimes worked out in Aidene’s favor. “Alright,” she began. “Question for question? You’ll learn a little about me and I’ll learn a little about you?”

If Aidene was being honest, she didn’t know what she would wish for. She had everything she could need and want. A bit ago, maybe, she would’ve liked to her first wish to be to send away the voices in her head. The second wish would be to have her mother alive again. And her final wish was to no longer be war spirit. But, the voices gave her a power that others didn’t have, she knew her mother would be disappointed in her and no amount of wishing could take away her heritage. “Wow. First the tavern, then this line. Looks like the Once Upon a Kingdom girls are all over me. Aidene wa snapped out of her reverie by Ivan’s voice and she shook her head in amusement at his usual cocky tone. “Sure…”

The line was moving quickly and it seemed everyone was recieving tickets of some sort…perhaps the wishing booth hadn’t started. Whispers continued rise with glances at Ivan and more whispers. It didn’t take a genius to discover why they were whispering. Eventually they reached the booth themselves, where a petite, short, pink-haired girl smiled at them both. Although her eyes seemed to linger on Ivan and Aidene could feel the waves of greed growing from her. “Awesome! We have a new victim!” The girl held her hand out to Ivan, a cheeky smile on her face. “Welcome sir to the Wishing Kissing Booth, we couldn’t fit all that on the sign so we just Wishing Booth – anyways, we need more participants to be kissed.” She lowered her voice at the girls eyeing them and leaned closer to Ivan, her bright blue eyes staring at him. “Honestly, I pity you. So how does 40% of your profits sound?” Aidene covered her mouth with her hand, struggling not to laugh. It was just their luck to stumble on a kissing booth, the entire situation was so absurd she couldn’t help but laughing slightly.

“How very open minded of you, Aidene,” Ivan replied sarcastically. He smiled back at her to show he wasn’t being too serious about what he said. Talking with her was much different than talking with anyone from the Agency… they were blunt and to the point whereas he and Aidene could joke back and forth. He laughed at her remark about the other people at the carnival. “I’d rather be in an illusion than see things from your eyes,” Ivan said, even though he didn’t know if that was true. His eyes widened as she poked him in the forehead. “Hey. I did it better.” She quickened her pace, raising a brow at him. “How good’s your stamina?” Ivan tilted his head. “Why don’t you ask my ex?” He laughed lightly, his tone confident and cocky.

“Is that so?” Aidene asked him, seeming to be processing something. He nodded, glad she hadn’t asked him to prove that… it would be hard when he had less than half the money he had started the day with. I deserve a raise… “Yep,” he said, watching her chuckle and stuff a piece of pink cotton into her mouth. “Do you like it? I think it suits you. Princess.” He repeated the nickname, taking a bite of cotton candy for himself.

She looked surprised, then cleared her throat uncomfortable, the tips of her ears as red as the carnival tents around them. He wondered if he had come on too strong or she was getting suspicious. But agency business aside, it would be nice to get to know a bit more about her. Her favorites, her least favorites… He smiled slightly as she agreed, offering “Question for question.” “Sounds good!” He agreed, a bit too excitedly. Calming himself down, he added, “You can go first since I’ve spent the last few minutes interrogating you.” It was only fair. Besides, he needed to decide what to ask first.

“Sooooo… do you have anything you want to wish for?” Ivan asked somewhat tentatively. He didn’t know what Aidene could possibly want, but everyone could use a wish. Besides, she was probably thinking about what she wanted too-she was in line for a wishing booth. “Sure…” Aidene said, snapping out of some sort of thought. Ivan shifted his weight, confidently flashing a smile somewhat in their direction. The idea of actually looking at them felt a bit embarrassing.

He noticed everyone was getting a small slip of paper-a ticket or something. Had the wishing not yet started? Was it more of a raffle, where only a few lucky people could wish? That could explain why they were moving so quickly. Ivan knew it was foolish, but he’d likely chance it anyways… Plenty of people were whispering now, glancing at Ivan like he was a piece of meat. Ivan felt sweaty. Did they know? Had someone recognized him, someone from a Kingdom he had once visited? He pressed his hands together and clenched his teeth, trying not to let any emotions leak out. When they reached the booth, a short girl with pink hair smiled at them. Ivan felt a bit uncomfortable under her hungry gaze. “Welcome, sir, to the Wishing Kissing Booth! We couldn’t fit that all on the sign so we just wrote Wishing Booth-anyways, we need more participants to be kissed.” Ivan’s eyes widened and his hopes came crashing down. He tried not to let his face fall, but his heart felt like it had crash landed in his stomach. Why would anyone write “Wishing Booth” in short for a kissing booth?! Maybe they were somewhat famous at carnivals and people already knew what they were getting into, but still… Ivan tried to smile again and stop reasoning with himself. They were here now, and he wasn’t getting a wish. He’d have to deal with it. “Honestly, I pity you.” I pity myself too… Ivan thought, remembering all the whispering girls from earlier. “How does forty percent of your profits sound?” Her bright blue eyes were even bigger than his as she looked at him expectantly. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Aidene trying not to laugh. He couldn’t glare at her, since he was still looking at the pink haired girl. “Er… I’m sorry, there’s been a mistake. We read the sign wrong or something…” his cheeks were link with embarrassment as he tried to explain. He couldn’t possibly enter a kissing booth-there were countless reasons why. Besides… forty percent of fifteen… Ivan’s brows furrowed, he was horrible at math. But it couldn’t be that much, right? “I’ll have to pass.” He finished.

“How very open minded of you, Aidene,” Aidene shrugged and gave a teasing smile as they walked. “I know, I’m so open minded.” Aidene replied, returning Ivan’s sarcasm. It was easy to have this soft, joking banter with Ivan – usually she had a hard time with joking with anyone because she didn’t want to get too close. But, it was extremely easy with Ivan. “So rude,” Aidene gasped in mock offense. “Why don’t you ask my ex?” Aidene paused, her brows knitting in confusion at the peculiar response. “Wha-…Oh.” The meaning dawned on Aidene and a flush swept over her cheeks. “Uh- No…, I’m not that quite interested in that aspect.” Aidene was never a very dirty or sexual person, in her head, love and war were two very different things. Aidene shook her head as she continued to eat her cotton candy. “You’re so…ugh.” She muttered, still embarrassed.

“Do you like it? I think it suits you. Princess.” Aidene shrugged at his question. “I don’t know, does it really?” Aidene was used to people calling her princess, but usually as a formal title – Princess of the Sun. Not as a nickname. “And aren’t you a prince of some kingdom,” Aidene raised an eyebrow as she glanced at him. “Wouldn’t want to get that ex of yours jealous,” she finished in a flippant tone as she finished the last bits of her cotton candy and burning the stick to ash and letting it slip through her fingers and fall onto the grass. She’s casted a mock-innocence glance towards Ivan as she shrugged a shoulder.

“I go first? Okay, let me think.” Aidene thought for a moment, thinking of something she could ask him. Usually this would be perfect to draw information from someone – get a sense of what could destroy them but she genuinely wanted to know more about Ivan. “Okay…What’s your middle name?” It was simple, insignificant to most people but she thought it best to start small.

“Sooooo… do you have anything you want to wish for?” Aidene paused, she didn’t even know. “I’m not quite sure,” Aidene admitted. “I have everything I need and a bunch of things I could want.” She shrugged nonchalantly before she rubbed the back of her neck as she looked around the line. Ivan didn’t seem to lose an ounce of his confidence as he shot a smile in the girl’s general direction. “Anything you want to wish for?” She asked, turning his question back on him.

At his sound of passing up the deal, many girl groaned and muttered in disappointment under their breath. The pink-haired girl’s eyebrows knitted together as her blue eyes turned into a pleading expression in a snap. Aidene had to give the petite girl some of her respect, she was an avid business woman. “Please, sir? Your face alone would get us a bunch of new customers … and we donate 5% of profits to charity.” The girl fixed her expression on Ivan, her wide stare piercing, “You drive a hard bargain, 60% of the worth of tickets you bring in, and I’ll give you…” the girl tapped on her chin for a moment, “A wish. I’m a daughter of djinn so …yeah.” She gave Ivan a wide smile before repeating, “60% and a wish? C’mon Girls,” the girl addressed the others. “Wouldn’t you want him apart of the kissing booth?” The girls nodded and began to plead with Ivan and the blue-eyed darling gave Ivan a wink, a sparkle in her eye. “So, what you say partner?”

“I know, I’m so open minded.” Aidene replied sarcastically. Ivan was glad she got his sarcasm-but not surprised. Again, they clicked surprisingly well. “So rude!” She gasped in mock offense. Ivan laughed. “So I’ve been told. Multiple times today. By you.” He playfully returned her poke in the forehead. She paused at first, not quite understanding. Ivan felt a bit guilty for giving such a dirty response, but couldn’t help laughing as she shook her head, understanding. “I’m not that quite interested in that aspect.” Ivan shook his head as he walked. “Sure you aren’t.” He joked sarcastically. “You’re so…ugh.” Her cheeks flushed as she chewed on her cotton. “You’re cute when you’re embarrassed.” Ivan pointed out, also taking another bite. His cotton, like hers, was almost gone. His own cheeks felt hot as well from what he had just said. It’s just teasing…it’s just teasing…

Aidene shrugged. “I don’t know, does it really?” Ivan tilted his head. “I think so. You’re demanding, rich, pretty-” He cut off, getting even more embarrassed with himself. “Like a princess.” He finished a second later, trying to keep his cool. Aidene recalled his “heritage”, and joked about making his ex jealous. “Oh, let her,” Ivan began, before he could stop himself. “She’s got nothing on you, anyways.” None of exes had ever made him feel the way Aidene was making him feel today. Which is because she’s a friend. Not a girlfriend. He lied to told himself. He watched as she finished the cotton off the stick, and turned it to fire, letting the grey ashes slip to the grass. She looked at him with mock-innocence, and shrugged again. Ivan watched with fascination, as he always did when she used her ability. He was both envious and in awe of it. “Good on you for helping the environment, Princess.” He remarked, nodding towards the ashes before tossing his own stick in a nearby trash can.

Ivan watched as she thought about what to ask him first. Finally, she asked, “Okay…what’s your middle name?” The question was lighthearted-which caught him off guard, as he had expected something more deep. His last name…the agency hadn’t assigned him one, and it had been so long since his father had used his full name, he couldn’t even remember. Still… "Lucius." He finally said, giving her his real first name. The name felt odd in his mouth-like it wasn’t his to say anymore. He hadn’t said it in years. He tilted his head. “What’s yours?” He tried to convince himself knowing her middle name would be useful to the agency.

“Yeah, me either,” Ivan lied, when his question was turned back on him. Must be nice, not a single thing coming to mind when given the oppurtunity for a wish… Ivan thought enviously. “Maybe a robot that does homework or something.” He’d almost forgotten they’d have to start school tomorrow and he wouldn’t know how to do half the work.

Ivan tried not to flinch at the slight sounds of groaning and muttering that arose from behind him. He didn’t like people being disappointed in him-mostly because when the agency was disappointed in him, he didn’t get dinner. But what was he supposed to do? Kiss a bunch of strangers in front of Aidene? He watched as the girl’s eyebrows knit together and her eyes got larger. “Please, sir? Your face alone would get us a bunch of new customers…and we donate 5% of profits to charity.” Ivan wondered which charity took money from a Kissing booth, but he supposed it was nice of the Wishing Kissing Booth to donate. Her blue eyes pierced into his soul, searching for any drop of mercy. “You drive a hard bargain. 60% of the worth of tickets you bring in, and I’ll give you…” She tapped her chin, thinking. “A wish.” Ivan’s eyes boggled. Did she just say… “I’m the daughter of djinn so…yeah.” She smiled brightly at him, and Ivan felt his heart fill up with hope. “C’mon Girls. Wouldn’t you want him a part of the kissing booth?” The mutters and sighs turned to ones of pleading and the girl gave him a wink. “So, what you say, partner?” Ivan glanced at Aidene, although he had already made up his mind. “Alright, alright, if you insist,” He tried to be cocky about it, but it was hard to hide his giddiness. “Thank you.” He smiled at the girl, hoping this wasn’t a scam.

“So I’ve been told. Multiple times today. By you.” Aidene shrugged slightly and was surprised when he returned her poke in a playful manner. He laughed at as she understood, rather slowly what he was hinting at and she rolled her eyes as he shook his head. He was flirtatious and dirty which simultaneously amused and embarrased Aidene, but mostly embarrased her. “Sure you aren’t.” “I am not!” She insisted her cheeks still flaming red. She looked away before adding, “My sisters are more interested in that.” Which was, unfortunately, true. They had no issue seducing and persuading those of any gender, meanwhile Aidene got flustered if someone so much as even hinted at it. It made for a few close calls when she was doing her havoc-bringing onto various places – she had to learn to poise herself. Ivan had a way of making her lose her poise though. She glared at him, “Glad you’re finding this cute, tell me should I stammer a bit and see if that makes it cuter?” She finished sarcastically.

“I think so. You’re demanding, rich, pretty-” Aidene turned her head to face Ivan as he cut off. She laughed slightly and a light pink dusted her cheeks. “Huh, striking simalarities.” Aidene rose an eyebrow as Ivan continued to speak, she was slightly surprised…and maybe pleased by his response. Simply because it was nice to recieve a compliment from him, they were friends after all. That’s not all. “Good on you for helping the environment, Princess.” Aidene chuckled slightly, “Huh, you’re sticking with that nickname, then? But yes of course, as royalty it is my duty to protect the environment around me.” Aidene replied in mocking tone and did an air cursty in a sarcastic manner.

" Lucius." Aidene nodded, filing this small amount of information away in her head. It was light, un-important but still important to her. Because she wanted to get to know him, so she could have something to remeber about this friend she had once upon a time long after she’s burned down this school. “Mine?” A ghost of a smile seemed to hover on her lips for a moment before she spoke her middle name. It had been a long time since she heard it, her mother used to use her full name when she needed to get her attention or when she was angry with her. “Carina,” she ansewered. “And that was your question, so mine now is: If you could go and visit anywhere, where would you go?”

“Alright, alright, if you insist,” Ivan had agreed to the pink-haired girl’s offer who beamed and ran around the booth and threw her arms around him into a hug. She was shorter than Ivan so she had to step on her tippy toes but in her elation she didn’t allow that to faze her. “Thank you!” She released Ivan quickly and stepped back and the other girls in line whispered excitedly. Aidene rose an eyebrow at Ivan accepting, but she supposed the wish would definitely be a tempting driver. Although, she couldn’t help feeling a bit jealous? No, I’m not jealous. That’d be ridculous, we’re just friends. Aidene thought to herself as she leaned against the booth. “Don’t come to me if you end up getting Mononucleosis,” Aidene teased slightly as she referred to the ‘kissing disease’. She wondered what she’d end up doing, she didn’t want to stand her watch Ivan kissing people…not because she was jealous – simply because that’s weird! And she was a little jealous. But at the same time, she didn’t want to end up walking back to the school alone. She brushed a stray wisp of hair away from her face as she glanced at the line of girls already gathering closer to him. “You’ve already got a crowd,” Aidene chuckled lightly, waving away thoughts of jealousy and leaving. She patted his back and gave him a sympathetic look, “Like pinky said, I pity you. Deeply.”
