By definition, political correctness is “the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against.”
Political correctness in comedy has been a sore subject as of late, and it looks like people are throwing around the term more than ever. Everyone from Kathy Griffin to Bill Maher have talked about it, and everyone has vastly different opinions.
What do you guys think? Is political correctness just a way to gatekeep humor and prevents comedians from making more ‘edgy’ and controversial jokes? Or is it a way to protect those that could potentially be used as punching bags and that could be sensitive to those kinds of subjects?

if yall are just having fun, you can politely tell people you aren’t comfortable with their jokes and walk away from the conversation, comedy is subjective after all.
I like none politically correct humour but you gotta pick your moments and if the person you are talking to isn’t comfortable with it then you should respect that

Always been an interesting topic to me. Humour has - and should have - no limits. And yes, there isn’t an argument here. In the west, humour has no limits. Comedians like to pretend they’re being ‘censored’ because people didn’t find their stupid jokes funny. There’s a difference.
It’s like, you really want to tell that super racist joke. In the company of people you know won’t take it seriously, or won’t actively offend them, sure. So long as you don’t actively think these things. But, if you really want to tell that joke and you feel the need to tell it in front of everyone, it says more about you as a person really
