Evangelo Name

Mav decided to ignore the weird… crab thingy sitting on the counter - at least for now. Instead, he grabbed the old map off of the bed. He figured the crusty beds didn’t have much to offer. He could almost smell the matress molding. Then Hermes examined the two basins on the china cabinet. He wasn’t sure what he was looking for, but he cast Mage Hand - his first ever cantrip. A spectral floating hand appeared and he sent it to search in the murky water for… something. Anything, really. Finally, he temptively approached the metal creature on the table while remaining 20 feet away from it. He sent his newly found Mage Hand to pick up the tiny thing and restrain it so Mav could get a better look without being put in danger. He also made a mental note of where the doors were as they were most likely his next target - granted this creature wasn’t harmful to him.

A sigh of relief escaped Dreamseeker. Opal was glad it worked without a hitch, gaining more confidence in this new form. Realizing it’s a toilet room with gross sink water, Dreamseeker held their breath. Her first plan of action was to open that door. Dreamseeker turned around and started for the doorknob, then stopped. She decided to check if the door had a keyhole or a peephole to look through so they could check what was outside.

As Hermes cast his cantrip both verbally and with gestures, and plunged the spectral hand into the filled sink. It came back out empty after 20 seconds of searching, nothing was in there. He dismissed the hand, only to walk back down the room and recast it. Standing 20 feet from the table, Hermes could make out what looked like a small spider comprised of a shiny steel shell with eight spider like mechanical legs and a small dome shaped head at the top that appears to be made of glass. It’s head tilted back at him, seemly curious about what he was.
Moving the hand over to the table in order to grab the metal spider but it scuttled noisily out of the way (dex save: 20) and hunched down closer to the table surface, no longer curious about him. Acting so quickly, it was difficult to see where it came from but a small pin flew straight at Hermes and became stuck in his bicep, threw his clothing. (To hit: unnatural 20)

@Skyler2 - Time to roll initiative.

As Hermes got a better glimpse at it, he realized it was some kind of… gross spider thing. He would have left it alone after that but then it decided to attack him. The pin didn’t hurt - it was just annoying. He pulled it out and commanded his Mage Hand into something much grimmer - a decaying, skeletal hand with necrotic energy surrounding it. Once again, Mav was using a cantrip. One, though similar to Mage Hand, was called Chill Touch and much less pleasant. He attempted to swap the creature away attack roll incoming and then ran for the door opposite the table. It would be a longer run but Hermes could make it with his movement, he then turned the doorknob - praying that it wasn’t locked. Despite knowing how to pick a lock in both the game and real life, Hermes was currently missing a lockpick.

If he’s not allowed to open the door this turn it’s fine just thought I should write this before going to bed also he’s basically going for the door that’s not next to table. I think that’s the layout, at least @CrazyCaliope

Ashborn cursed the door under his breath as his shoulder throbbed in pain and in return for utter failure, which besides being locked up in a bedroom was already getting on his nerves. As stared at the closed door, breathing out to calm his nerves, suddenly like a light bulb moment recalled the stuff in his inventory. He quickly searched for the Thieves’ Tools and with them began to try and pick the lock of the door.

Turning around to face the door, the sound of a couple of bubbles popped up out of the sink.
Looking down at the door and door handle, Dreamseeker couldn’t see any keyhole. There was only a small bolt lock on the inside of the door, showing that it was clearly unlocked and there was no visible traps.

Damn! With a nat 20, I gotta be nice to ya since I feel like it was sorta wasted.

The chill touch cantrip came coming… but to no effect. The spider seemed to have immunity to necrotic damage. Although, it did distract it long enough for Hermes to get to the door on the opposite side from the spider. The door was unlocked and he could pull it open. Then as the door opened, the dome detached itself from its legs and flew to the middle of the room.

Grabbing the lock picks, he attempted to pick the door. Except, what he noticed was that the door was unlocked the whole time.

Dreamseeker slightly jumped at the bubbles from the sink. Opal had to make a choice, the dumb one of messing with the sink like a stupid character in a horror movie or the less stupid choice of running out… likely into a spike pit. On second thought, she figured that no option was correct. Dreamseeker turned back into a limbless ooze and started to slide back and forth. Opal wasn’t entirely sure what could be in the sink, but probably nothing good. She decided to suppress her curiosity and carefully open the door after turning into a more humanoid form once more. It was more important that they find their teammates, in which case they could go back to the sink if needed. When opening the door, they first stuck out the dagger so they could light up whatever room they’d find themselves in.

Just as the realisation hit him that the door he had been struggling with was not even locked to begin with he took a whole minute to curse himself before getting up and pushing open the door.

Mav had heard of fight flight. He had not, however, known about doing both at the exact same time. Which is what this creepy spider was doing. Not to mention the fact that his cool hand did absolutely nothing to the damn thing. “The absolute f*ckkkkkkk… I thought you could only find those in Australia.” He immediately slammed the door closed, leaving the spider in the other room. Whatever was left in there was absolutely not worth it. He turned to the new room, hoping to see one of his teammates.

Outside the door, the dagger showed them what seemed to be a hallway that was 20 feet long and 5 feet wide. But to the right, standing in the middle of the hall, was a small red and furry creature. It giggled out a “Hi”.

Looking through the open door into the next room, he saw a simple but large room for a dresser. It was 15 feet across and 10 feet deep. Then there was something else, something that moved in the furtherest corner on the right.

He heard a buzz get closer on the other side of the door and then a few seconds later, it died down.
Where he was now, turning away from the door, was in a stone hall. To the right was a 6 feet dead end and to the left seemed to be about 18 feet. The hall was about 6 feet wide.

Ashborn’s stature casted a shadow on the floor of the now revealed room, blocking the poor attempts of dim light from previous room to entre this one. Skeptically he stepped in, but halted at once as something in the furthest corner seemed to move. Is that some creature? - he thought and just to be sure used his darkvision again.

@CrazyCaliope can I do a perception check again?

As Ashborn stepped into the closest, the door swung shut behind him. Though it was dark in there now, he could see the grey form of a goblin-like creature with large and pointed ears, wearing nothing but a tattered loin cloth. Its arms flailed toward him but it didn’t seem to be getting any closer.

No need just yet, as this was always going to happen if you stepped into the room.

Ashborn flinched a little as the door shut close behind him all of a sudden. Despite the darkness that engulfed the closet, he spotted the ‘creature’ in the corner in the right, the pointy-earned, grey goblin-like creature. He didn’t approach it, nor move from his place. “Who are you and what are you doing here?”, he asked frowning, preparing to defend himself if it tried something, “Do you know how to get out of here?”, he added expectantly.

The creature didn’t react any differently to the yelling, in fact, it was almost like it didn’t even hear him. The only thing that happened was Ashborn voice carrying. Almost like an echo that didn’t bounce back to him, it was an echo of his own voice that came from the corner behind him.

If Opal learned anything from the television, it’s that the cuter something is, the more afraid you should be of it. But, Opal figured it was better to be hospitable and dead instead of rude and dead. Plus, the thing was super adorable to her. That was also one of the reasons she picked Dreamseeker. “Hi there,” Dreamseeker giggled back. Opal wanted to choose her words very carefully. After all, she didn’t want to trigger some fight or flight reaction in the creature. “My name’s Dreamseeker. Do you have a name? Were you in need of the toilet?” Dreamseeker asked. She avoided asking what the creature wanted in fear of the answer being Dreamseeker’s life and consequently her own.

The hair on the nape of his neck bristled in shocked as his own voice came back to him, but from behind. There was no pointing in wasting his time with this useless haunted creature if it weren’t going to help him escape. ‘Big nope.’, he decided mentally, pivoting on his heels and swinging around, as he tried to open the door again and get out of there since closet seemed like a dead end to him.

Nothing. There was nothing she could find. To her right, she could see the door shape again, back to the side of the room she was first on. Puzzled by only noticing the shape at a glance, she turned to her right, looking to see if she could get a better look at it, before walking that direction. Up to this point, none of this game was making any sense to her, she didn’t know what to do. All she could do was search, checking if there was anything hidden either along the wall or somehow in the open space in front of the first two beds.

I don’t know what kind of check to do, but I need to roll for something, right?

The happy little creature giggled again when she responded to it. It’s mouth was half as furry as it’s body and had the same kind of shape as Pac-Man. It spoke in a falsetto. “Hello Dreamseeker. My name is Elmo. No, Elmo don’t need to go toilet. Is Dreamseeker hurt?”

As she began walking back along the wall to the other end, she started to investigate where she’d seen the door last. (Investigation: 16 + 6) She reached the end and stopped, without turning. She saw in her peripheral vision, right nest to her, on the left wall was a door. Right there. It was closed but it was there. Though something told her that if she looked directly at it again, she wouldn’t be able to see it.
